Terry is a SG. Again you can love or hate him but 40% from 3 is what it is.

I like him. Not love or hate, but he’s a pg / short sg. Either way, not high demand at $18M. Neutral seems about right to me.

They were the high bidder on a big, non-max contract. He performed about as can be reasonably expected. He SHOULD be neutral value. :)

Listening to some NBCSports podcasts... Forsberg has the C's as 5th in the East, as things stand. I'd say he is about right, as I have them 4th.

The will win the East if they stay healthy. Book it, Dano. I'm talking about the last team standing, not regular season records.

Complete tangent, but I got to be honest, I have a hard time thinking of Langford and Nesmith - #14s in general - as "lottery picks". I know they technically are, but it feels like it's in the same way that Roy Hibbert was technically an all-star.

Not saying this to knock them. #14 just feels solidly mid-pack.

Late lottery or mid-round.

Terry Rozier/Al Jefferson/Kelly Olynyk territory.

Regular season standings, I'd have as 4th or 5th too. Bucks, Heat, and Raptors all ahead then maybe one of Nets/Sixers.

Depends if Ojeleye finally gets 30 mpg. If Stevens would wake up then easy Top seed in the East

Boston, post-Hayward, represents the other side of the Bird rights trap. Its roster is a bit like a deflated balloon right now. The Celtics used their MLE on a big man, just like they would have anyway, and another small exception on a guard, and as a result are more or less the exact same team they would have been … except without Hayward. They can’t replace him as an over-the-cap team. It’s possible for Boston to pull off a late, dramatic save by generating a massive $30 million (or so) trade exception in a sign-and-trade with Charlotte, but even that will prove costly. The Celtics need to pony up an asset to include in the trade with Charlotte and then, almost certainly, another asset to bring a player into the exception. At a minimum, replacing Hayward in their salary structure will cost them two draft picks.

Their MLE wouldn’t have been enough to get Thompson, this team would be looking at Noel/Boucher type talent. Not sure why this gets left out. I don’t really see why they would have to pony up an asset either if it meant CHA needing to stretch Batum or not.

Is the Thompson deal signed or could we in principle change it to a S&T w/ Cleveland's help?

I know we'd be hard capped either way, but preserving the MLE would still add to our flexibility a bit (e.g. by taking Teague into it and preserving the Biannual Exception, or by being able to later add a late-season cut vet player for more than the vet minimum, or simply by adding somebody else now we otherwise wouldn't have).

I think the right move for your team is to package Kemba and Jaylen for an upgrade. Maybe Paul George or Bradley Beal?

Shift from having 4 mid to low tier stars into 2 top tier stars

You then can easily build Tatum and a top tier star with role players that Ainge is good at.

I don't see Beal being moved, but if he was willing to leave WAS I'd consider it, but not for Brown. FWIW, Beal and Tatum are good friends, but WAS is not moving Beal at this time and he's been clear that he wants to stay.

I would also take scary Terry back but only if Kemba is traded. I’m not even sure what we could get for Kemba honestly. It would have to be someone to replace Hayward’s production.

Moving on from Bogs.... Who says no?

Image

Celtics - Give up a couple of picks (one 1st and 3 2nds, although they OKC pick may be close to a 1st) to bring in a different Gordon to play PF and even small-ball center

Hornets - Get their guy without stretching Batum and get a 2nd just to for working with Ainge on this

Magic - Let the Okeke era begin! Well, at least until Issac comes back next year. They get Terry who could probably start over Fultz or at least be a good spark plug off of their bench. I know they just drafted Cole Anthony but Terry is really more of a SG so I don't think that would be a problem.

IMO Nesmith should have been picked much higher. Dude shot over 50 percent from 3. He has a NBA body as well. Not sure you could ask much more if your Ainge. He probably would have picked him even if he had the 8th pick.
