Austin Rivers has been a trash offensive player for a lot of years now, but seems to have developed into a decent defensive player, and has some ****/fire to him -- I guess I'd welcome that. Team could use someone ready to throw down at a moment's notice.
Hield hasn't really interested me since he was at Oklahoma. Despite his epic 3pt #s, career 57 TS% and not really much impact. I think, going forward, he's unlikely to do much more than fade away quietly.
I think people are sleeping on how good Malcolm was last season. Having him as a fourth offensive option is really kind of wild.

Brogdon has to play better defense, and somehow provide better leadership with Smart gone.

I would really love Hield, but Brogdan would have to go somewhere else. I doubt Indiana wants him back. Not to mention, we're left with zero ball handlers on the bench if he's gone.
If we can somehow flip a package centered around Malcolm for Hield and McConnell, I'm ALL for it.

Lakers send out: nothing.
Lakers receive: multiple unprotected first round picks.
Lakers fans: this looks like a fair and balanced trade.

If he has the opportunity to acquire him, Brad does this 10/10 times, regardless of what contract he wants next year. Adding Hield would make us unstoppable on offense. With him on the floor to end games, we'd give all coaches in the league nightmares. The chance of a title outweighs whether or not you can retain Hield next season.

Except Brogdon is better overall and fills a larger need. Only clear advantage of Hield is his durability. One of the few iron men in the league.
And as with Brogdon, Pacers will do good by Hield and send him to a team of his preference (as long as they're compensated fairly). I'd imagine Hield would prefer to join a team that's willing to extend him -- Orlando, for example.

Hield is a good movement shooter and he will help a team but who's gonna bring the ball up.

Was it me or didn't Hield play as a 6'4" SF in Indiana?

I think they ran a lot of Hali-Hield-Duarte/Nesmith lineups.

This is the deal, imo
BRogdon to Toronto
Trent Jr to Indiana
Hield and Jackson to Boston
then send a pick and bring in Rubio into the TPE
Final Roster
White/Rubio/Pritchard
Brown/Hield/Svi
Tatum/Walsh/Hauser
Porzingis/Horford/Brissett
Timelord/Jackson/Kornet
Elite Depth, Elite shooting, Some great defensive pieces.

Agree with most of that but think Rivers has still been pretty decent offensively. These are his catch and shoot 3 pt % over the past 3 years: 36%, 37%, 40%. Very solid numbers. The other thing I like about him offensively is how much of a low usage guy he is. Doesn't need the ball in his hands - which is important when we have 3 high usage stars on the team. His usage rate is typically around like 12.6% which is really low.
Also, outside of our top 7 guys, we don't really have anyone who has proven they can hit shots in the playoffs. Pritchard's shooting has dropped off during the playoffs, Hauser hasn't been given much of a chance to play yet in the playoffs. Our other guys have basically no playoff experience. Rivers, across his last 3 postseasons, (2021, 2022, 2023), has shot 40.3% from 3 (25/62).
Lastly, I know it's a highlight vid, but he made some impressive drives to the bucket last season - I like that he doesn't settle for 3's on those plays and looks to still have good quickness off the dribble.
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything

Buddy Hield is a career 47.5 percent shooter from the corner and he should thrive with the amount of open looks the Celtics can generate for him on offense.
Sign me up!
Hield to Boston
Brogdon to LAC
Players and picks to IND
I am 100% fine with White, Pritchard and Banton at point guard especially because Tatum will have the ball in his hands a lot of the time.
Hield doesn't defend but neither does Brogdon. No difference there.

I'm with you on this. Brogdon is good. I'm fine if he's back. But if there's any validity to him being "unhappy" in Boston then moving him for someone like Buddy makes sense. Buddy is a WEAPON. Surround him with Tatum, Brown, Zinger, etc and let him get open looks..He will murder

Perhaps.
I'm not quite 100% sure those guys at PG is adequate. But I think it could work. I am optimistic about Banton - I think he's good, he just isn't a very good shooter. But if you surround him with guys like Tatum, Brown, KP, Al, Hield, Hauser, etc. he will be driving and kicking to those guys getting tons of assists, and if the defense stays home on those guys, Banton will drive it in to the basket and score easily with all of that space.
My main questions about this trade are:
-Not sure it's realistic for Hield to come to Boston. The reason Indy is trading him is because they couldn't get an extension done. Hield probably wanted too much $ and/or more years than Indy wanted to give. Boston likely isn't gonna give him that type of big $ extension he wants, and Hield is probably gonna only get moved to a team that is willing to extend him.
-I'm not sure the Clippers do it. I'm not sure the clippers have shown any interest in trading for Brogdon, ever since the initial KP deal fell through. Perhaps they found out more info about his elbow injury and simply decided they don't want to trade for Brogdon on that kind of a contract. Also, they resigned Westbrook after that deal fell through so perhaps they're less inclined to trade for Brogdon now..

Well, if Brogdon brings back both Hield and Isaiah Jackson, yes to this in a heartbeat -- it's probably the deepest team in the league with plenty of A-tier talent.
Not sure if Indy and Toronto would be on board though. Jackson would be a great Rob backup, really good fit of a young athletic big. I think Indiana passes on this unless there are future assets included. And losing Jackson makes them thin up front, no?
I'd do this deal and then for that backup PG vet bring in someone who can spot minutes but leave some for Pritchard. George Hill? We get all the Pacers players! Or Austin Rivers just to have more vet presence and some back court defense.
I forgot about Ricky. Had to look up his status and he's taking time from basketball for mental health reasons. If wants to return to the NBA and is ready, health-wise, he would be welcome in Boston. One would hope that a chance at a championship ring would help improve mental health, but of course it's often much more complicated than that.

Yeah, no one is trading for Rubio right now with that mental health situation..
