Heady glue guy/utility player, I can’t help but see Kirk Hinrich or a less potent/smaller Gordon Hayward.

If we traded up he’d be the most disappointing pick imo, right after Okoro.

Good take on Kira and the draft overall, above! I agree that Precious might want to be a wing more than a big, but I’m intrigued.

I think he is gone early you just don't hear a lot of negatives about him. But honestly I am not sold. I feel like teams fall in love with PGs early in that 4-10 range and you never hear from them again. That is criminal in my mind as it is just not a position you need to fill at that point in the draft. In his favor I have heard that he is supposed to be an impact guy and if you tell me got him at 14 I would tell you he was a total steal.

But this season was so short we are all really full of **** when trying to asses how good a guy is going to be. Did Conference play even happen?

The one guy I am willing to go out on a limb and just say I love is Kira Lewis. I also have a thing for Jalen Smith but can't necessarily defend it.

Truthfully, I've had a lot of time to study this one due to Covid and taking a leave of absence to help my son with first grade. Plus the prep for this draft has been endless! :o

I'm feeling a bit cheated because all of this free agency stuff is kind of stealing its thunder and I'd almost rather be hyper focused on the draft as per usual, but its a global pandemic so what are you going to do right?

The thing is that the Celtics at 14 really are in the sweet spot in this draft. I might want to be a tad higher to have a definite chance at Onyeka, but I think all the value is in the middle of this draft. This is one year I'd hate to have 1-3.

The other guy that intrigues me is Poku. He's just so thin, his handle and jumper are great. The C's are in weird spot. Their main talent is young so developing a players is an option, but I can see the allure of taking a Saddiq Bey type because he's a plug and play guy.

Good news for me is I don't see Phoenix taking Lewis at 10 when they just traded for CP3. Maybe I'm wrong there though. Aaron Nesmith is also a guy I have my eye on. He seems like a smart pick in our range.

Yeah it’s been a fun draft to scout given all our picks. SmartWentCrazy is the board’s resident Poku believer. I don’t see it — too thin. Playa Hater has promoted the idea of trying to trade 26/30 for a second pick in the terms, which I like. I agree there’s going to be some good gets throughout the first round. I like Nesmith, for example! And Oturu, Nnaji, Paul Reed too.

Hope your son’s doing well with first grade, I know it’s a strange time for educators both professional and seat-of-the-pants; my wife and I are always reminding ourselves that the one benefit of the pandemic is all the family time we’re getting, which will go down in the history books if they still make those afterwards:)

PG skills but he looks like more of a SG to me?

His rep is high IQ / great instincts. Per 40 last year he posted 2.7 steals and 0.7 blocks, versus only 1.4 fouls. Freshman year, 1.9 and 1.0 vs 1.6 fouls. Efficient scorer inside the arc, A/TO ratio is nice too...unless you compare to Monte Morris who played in the same system and posted insane A/TO stats.

Guys in his mold (i.e. tall PGs) don't have the greatest track record, and often take time to develop. Pat McCaw is actually one of the closer comps in terms of HS rank, height/build, and general strengths and weaknesses. McCaw posted similar steal numbers and similar overall numbers, his stats were not as exceptional as Hal's in subtle respects, but he also played in a less favorable system.

He is said to be a good shooter, shot well at Iowa State...but Lonzo Ball shot better as a freshman at UCLA and there are similar (if not as notable) questions regarding Hal's shooting form.

I'd peg him somewhere between Malcolm Brogdon and Lonzo Ball, I don't know how much he contributes immediately, I view him favorably but wouldn't trade up for him. Just my read; take it fwiw I haven't really watched him at all except for a scouting video or two.

In preparation for us drafting RJ Hampton I’m trying to remember what it was like watching Terry Rozier develop.

Now I’m wondering if I have to look at Jay Scrubb again. I’d rather Hinton.

I have been doing so much catch-up reading I have become too burnt to post.. This GH not knowing is killing me. I have a feeling one of the usual top 10 mocked players will slip right to Boston, or a spot or 2 away.

Can't Believe the draft is finally here. 19 hours away...

please make it happen Danny boy!!

BTW with Houston now picking at 16 and having only that draft pick, I would offer 26+30+47.

Boston has 14 and 16 for 2 very solid players IMO. Houston gets 2 1st rders and a 2nd.

I can see the Celtics with 3 first round picks still failing to draft a big that can defend and addressing a big issue that plagued this team for the last 3 seasons.

Big point guard still priority #1 but, not many options

Im all in on Poku. He’s obviously too thin, but he’s 18 and just measured at 7’.25 barefoot with a 7’5 wingspan and a 9’4 reach. Allegedly 215 ish now too.

The kid is 18 and hasnt really played in a year due to an injury and covid, was 17 in the majority of the highlights out there. He’s insanely skilled for his age/size combination and his fluidity at 7 feet is impressive as well.

I just want to take a risk on him. He likely will bust, but he has a chance to be a seriously special player. Theres only so many players out there with his size/skill/fluidity combination and we should take the chance on his upside.

Get Hayes or Oko and Reed or Oturu, punt Hayward for Turner or Huerter or WCJ and go-out all on youth remaining relevant using Kemba and when his deal expires find the 3rd wheel to the Jays in Bam or Mitchell or Shai or whichever buddy wants to play with them.
Robert Horry is better than MJ, because everybody knows that 7>6.

A few days ago, I thought I hadn't watched video of picks outside of our range, the truth is I hadn't looked at mocks... you guys talked about every pick who will likely be off the board and I just took it as you naming guys in our range. I guess I have watched everyone including a lot of guys mocks say we won't be close to with a hail Mary! Y'all just think everyone is gonna fall because you want them! Had me looking at all those guys for nothing! :banghead: :banghead:
