Playoff rotation of:

PG: Holiday (35), White (13)
SG: Bullock (20), White (22), Brown (6)
SF: Brown (30), Hauser (18)
PF: Tatum (38), Horford (10)
C: Porzingis (32), Horford (16)

I feel like White might be super marginalized in the starting 5 and starting him with Jrue might create a rotation log jam where you need to play another PG type, and those guys can tend to be liabilities height wise. Bullock is still playing a minor role in the rotation here, but starting him allows you to go with another wing like Hauser here over a Pritchard type size liability.

Bro, you really are high on bullock. That’s multiple posts you’ve got with bullock. That guy sucks. and you want a guy like him to start??? Lol lmfao. He won’t play here. I have hauser and Svi, and some of the young guys ahead of him.

I wouldn't say I'm super high on him. He's a quality rotation player with a very easy-to-fit game tailor made for a reserve role on contenders. Right now we have 6 guys worthy of being in a playoff rotation and Bullock would be a 7th. You might like Hauser, Svi or whoever better, but none of them have proven themselves to be as good as Bullock is right now (and I'm not saying that's a super high bar to clear either).

I'm actually very hopeful for Hauser's development, which is why I have him in my playoff rotation there. I'm assuming he'll be ready. But there was still that 20 minute role I gave to Bullock there. I don't like the odds of any of the rest of our roster being as ripe for it as Bullock as is...

Walsh - maybe in due time, but I don't want to have to rely on a rookie

Pritchard - he can play in a regular season rotation, but his lack of height will always be a liability in playoff matchups and I don't think he brings you enough on offense to make up for it

Brissett/Stevens/Banton - don't trust their outside shots and think they'll get Tony Allen'd off the court in the playoffs, though they could have regular season utility

Svi - love the shot but don't trust the foot speed defensively to stick

Kornet/Gabriel - ok with them getting regular season spot minutes at the 5 with load management, but don't want them playing playoff minutes

I don't see an argument for anyone of them over Bullock based on their careers so far, except maybe Walsh if you think he'll hit the ground running (which is a very, very aggressive projection for a 2nd round pick like that). He's available presumably for the minimum. I think that would be a great signing relative to the caliber of player you can expect at that salary.

As far as starting him, that had nothing to do with being super high on him. That was just about lining up rotations. I stand by that being helpful to line up the 8-man rotation I listed there where you're only playing 2 PGs in Holiday/White. Breaking them up to start gives you more flexibility to use them together throughout the game vs. having most/all of their time together to the start of each half and the closing 8-10 minutes. It helps ensure you won't have to avoid introducing a 9th player to the rotation to avoid playing them for too long stints on the floor or managing foul troubles.

I don't know all the new rules about the 2nd apron. Can the Celtics use their $6.2 TPE now that they are over the 2nd apron?

If they can then I could see picks going to a team for a player making $6.2 million or lower as the next move.

Celtics are all in now.

I personally don't want to move D White. Too valuable.

losing Rob stings a bit , unfortunately Timelord couldn't stay on the court...Obviously this team need another 5/rim protector. What are the C's options? D Howard could help if he played his role.

I think Al has 2 more good runs in him. He's got 2 years left on his contract and will probably retire after that.

I figure he should come off the bench this season for about 25 MPG and then about 20 MPG the season after that. Win back to back titles and then ride of into the sunset :)

We just signed Wenyen Gabriel yesterday.

I figure him and Kornet will compete for that 3rd big spot, with Queta as the darkhorse. That's 5 bigs, which is plenty.

Why do people keep bringing about Dwight howard? The guy hasn't been an NBA caliber player in 3 years. ONly team that would sign him last season was in China, no one wants him again this season, he's like 50 years old..

Celtics and Pritch discussing an extension (via The Wiretap)

Payton Pritchard, Celtics Discussing Extension
OCT 2, 2023 9:14 AM

The Boston Celtics and guard Payton Pritchard are discussing a contract extension. Pritchard is in the final season of his rookie scale deal.

Boston and the fourth-year guard have until the start of the regular season to reach an agreement on an extension. If no deal is reached, the Celtics can make Pritchard a restricted free agent in the summer of 2024.

Pritchard is expected to take on a bigger role in a revamped Celtics backcourt. Boston traded starter Marcus Smart and Sixth Man of the Year Malcolm Brogdon. Pritchard is expected to back up newly acquired Jrue Holiday and holdover Derrick White this season.

Good question. I was wondering about this myself. I think we can use the TPE but since we're so far over the tax, wouldn't that $6 mil player end up costing us like $18 mil?

So it probably wouldn't be worth it, unless it's for *just* the right player but what are the odds there is that perfect player and his team actually wants to trade him and get no good players in return?

Kevin O'Connor @KevinOConnorNBA
yesterday

Even after adding Jrue Holiday, the Celtics can still trade two future firsts and three swaps. They also have eight second round picks. So if Boston needs to improve its depth before the trade deadline, Brad Stevens has the assets to make more moves.
