Kristaps to the Lakers

KCP, Klebr, #16 (Magic), #32 (Celtics) and a future Boston 2nd to the Nets

Jrue Holiday, Sam Hauser and #28 (Celtics) to the Magic

Suggs, Vanderbilt, Knect, #26 and #27 (Nets) to the Celtics

WHite/Pritchard
Suggs/Scheierman
Brown/Knect
Vanderbilt/???
????/Kornet/Queta

Still need a starting Center and a backup PF. PErhaps draft or a trade for a cheap guy who could break out (Williams)

I asked Jay King in his mailbag about the possibility of Jaylen, DWhite, KP and Jrue being traded. This was his response:

As far as I’m aware, none of those four players will be untouchable, but the price tag for Jaylen Brown and Derrick White will be extremely high.

YEah

Jaylen for Giannis or Jaylen for Spurs picks and youth.

Those are extremely high prices.

Trade idea of the day.

ATL- Porzingis
DET - Niang
BOS - Mann, #13 - 2025, 2027 2nd round pick (CLE), 2027 2nd round pick (MIL)

Celtics cut $15.2 million.

LOL, I feel for you tho (if you're a Bucks fan & not a Kings fan), Middleton for Kuzma was a headscratcher, the type of "culture move" that kills your team.

Not sure that Jrue for Kuzma would be worse, since Jrue doesn't have the same seniority that Middleton had, and the move would at least save us long term salary in addition to short term...whereas Kuzma actually costs you guys long term salary. But...

Kuzma sucks. Pass

“Hall of Famer Marc Stein reported this weekend that Boston is in fact listening to trade offers for Holiday, something most people assumed. While the focus has been on reducing payroll, sources have told the Paroxysm that Boston is setting the price at a first-round pick along with whatever reduced salary comes back in the deal.”

If we could get a first for Jrue I'd be ecstatic ngl

That's why I don't believe Jrue has negative value.

Cs are going to get something of value for Jrue.

I've proposed that one with 28 for 22 swap instead of 13 several times. It's one of my 2 favorite KP deals. If we can get 13, I'd love it, but really doubt ATL goes for it. They need to keep the lotto pick, and KP is expiring / injury risk. Definitely think you can get the 2nd from DET. Possibly the one from ATL with the swap. I would be amazed if Brad can get 13 out of it. Maybe if KP agrees to a cheap-ish extension.

Orlando fans are going to kill you in your sleep. :) There might be a Jrue deal to them, but Suggs isn't coming out, and they're not paying him and picks. If it was all fodder and the pick swap, then maybe:

ORL: Jrue, 27 for KCP, Anthony, 16
BOS: 26, Anthony for Jrue
BKN: KCP and 16 for 26, 27

BOS probably takes Anthony and one of the picks and flips him elsewhere. You could conceivably use ATL TPE for that with the KP deal above. But, that's a lot of salary for ATL to take on.

If Brad did trade Jaylen for the #2 pick, I doubt Brad would select Dylan Harper because of his 3pt shooting numbers and need for the ball. I think Brad would take Tre Johnson out of Texas as an ideal type of player who can succeed when Tatum controls the ball for 40 minutes a night...

I don't think Brad cares about consensus rankings and at the combine Brad put in to interview Cooper and Tre, not Dylan Harper

I’ve said they aren’t paying to dump guys and more likely to get positive value to live salary from the beginning.

There’s going to be a bunch of teams that make moves and pay value to improve and the Celtics have some of the better players available.

Just look down the league’s teams that don’t have control of their first round pick, or have stunk forever and need to start competing, or have had some recent success they need to build on, or all three. It’s a long list.

Also we can’t aggregate or take back more Salary. It’s just not going to happen.

We can aggregate as long as we end up below 2nd apron after.

Jaylen Brown + any one of Porzingis/Jrue/White is enough salary going out where taking Giannis back gets us below the 2nd apron. And MIL can salary match taking back Brown plus one of them if we pull in a 3rd team to take in either PatC and a minimum salary or Bobby Portis.

Brown/White/all the picks we can send is probably an offer they should have made and Giannis would want to sign an extension for if Tatum didn't get hurt. You could probably get Horford back for a min if we got Giannis:

Pritchard
Jrue / Scheierman
Tatum / Hauser
Giannis
Porzingis / Horford

The issue is I think MIL might prefer more of a younger/cheaper package and now that Tatum is out I doubt Giannis wants to extend here. but salary matching/apron rules are not the reason a Giannis trade isn't happening.

Idk what happened to Mann but he seemed like a decent player at one point. Would be great value if he managed to bounce back but I like the buy low approach while getting paid to do so

Brad could have gotten a 2030 pick swap with Dallas for Grant Williams in that S&T but instead he let SAS have it because they didn't want to take back the salary of Reggie Bullock to push them into the 2nd apron at the time (later on they decided Jrue was worth it to go over).

They didn't have to give up Josh Richardson in the Derrick White trade. They had a TPE that fit White, but giving up JRich allowed them to duck the tax.

I don't doubt that they can get "value" for Jrue in the form of decent players under contract or some late/protected 1st. I just think that Brad has shown us repeatedly in the past that on the margins of the roster and with lower value assets he's willing to sacrifice for the cap sheet and I expect that happen again here. I think they will prioritize salary savings over getting a marginally better player back.
