It would change some dynamics, don't kid yourselves. Philly lost some close games to the Celtics in the postseason, lacking a real closer.

We are getting Irving/Hayward back but we still don't really have anyone on the Celtics who can be a real Lebron stopper, or slow him down.

I still want Kawhi Leonard.

OK, another question. Assuming Brown and Tatum continues to play as well or better than they did this season, do you in the summer of 2020 want Hayward to opt into his $34.2 million player option for the 2020-2021 season or for the Celtics to give him an even bigger contract that year?

Hayward will turn 30 in March 2020. So in July 2020, he will have completed 10 seasons and probably will be eligible for a deal starting between $35-40 million. Maybe more if online gambling increases the cap much more than anticipated over the next two years.

By then Kyrie would be earning over $35 million if he's still on the team. Jaylen Brown would be an RFA that summer as well.

Do you give him a new deal, hope that he opts out of that $34.2 million salary and signs with someone else or he opts in for one last year?

I guess it would depend on whether this roster has won any titles by that time or how close they've been, whether Hayward has had big playoffs runs for the Celtics in the next two seasons.

But if Brown and Tatum are only improving in the next two seasons and playing bigger roles and minutes in the playoffs, it may be tough to pay Hayward that kind of money.

I really try not to be paranoid or assume bad faith. I know fans of other teams can have opinions that differ from ours without being trolls. And I don't want to be that guy who's jeering out every rival fan just because of their rooting interest and not the content of their posts.

But it gets really hard to give folks the benefit of the doubt when every single Raptors and Sixers and Warriors fan that has come in here in the last 48 hours is trying to convince us why we should give away our assets, or won't be able to retain them, or won't be able to get who we want, or will never be able to contend with them, etc. etc. etc.

It's remarkable how all these other fanbases know what's best for us, if only we'd listen.

Where do I try to convince you to do anything?

I'm asking what decisions Celtics fans would make. I did the same with Clippers fans when they were looking at having to extend CP3, Griffin and Reddick last year.

Or Toronto fans when they were looking at extending Lowry when he was over 30.


Now if you guys think the team could pay every player whose contracts will be coming up in the next two years, fine that's one answer

Maybe not realistic but an answer.

You guys seem to take it for granted that the East if not the title next year is yours. If either of that happens, great, but there are tough choices coming, whether or not either result occurs.

Which of KD, Curry or Klay are you letting go? 3 elite shooters is clearly a luxury and you cant pay them all.

One of the reasons I always wanted Leonard here, to go against Lebron. Now if Lebron went to the Lakers and can announce this crap soon and stop being a drama queen......all is settled. However if you make the finals and play GS having Kawhi still is important.

Yes Jaylen Brown is good, but I am willing to let him go. Dude got owned at times by Kyle Korver in the ECFs.
