They’d have to draft for us at 10, all Dallas rotation money is bad.

Probably be Josh Green at most as far as players, most likely TPE and draft compensation.

If we could get him a couple of years practicing with Al he could develop into a solid option. Look at how successful Butler has been next to Bam a young stud big man. I don’t know what it would take but maybe one of our guards and a couple of first rounders might entice them.
Agree. WCJ would be perfect. Unfortunately I don't see any reason Orlando would move him. He's a solid player on a good contract.
Orlando has been rumored to like Grant though. Personally, I'd do Grant (S&T) + Rob for WCJ and Isaac. We take Isaac off their hands in exchange for arguably a downgrade at center, though they might also see a defensive anchor like Rob as a better fit in the frontcourt next to their high scoring forward duo of Banchero and Franz Wagner.
No thanks. WCJ can shoot (kind of) but Rob is the better defender/rim protector, better passer, etc. Both are on similar contracts. I think you could debate whether you'd rather have rob or WCJ on this team.
But I'll take Grant over Isaac any day of the week. Isaac is literally the most injury prone player in the league. He'll probably be out of the league within the next 12 months.
Even if you think WCJ is a little bit of an upgrade over Rob (given rob's injury issues), the gap is bigger imo between Grant and Isaac. And WCJ is not exactly an ironman himself.
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything

Trade Grant to Dallas for the 10th pick, then draft Taylor Hendricks.
Bring him off the bench in the beginning. Keep Al starting at the 4.
But then, slowly ramp up Hendricks' minutes as the season goes on. And slowly reduce Al's minutes.
Let Hendricks learn from Rob and Al. He'll eventually replace Al as the starting 4, while also being able to play small ball 5.
Hendricks is GOOD. Has a chance to be like a less injury prone Jaren jackson Jr.

I like the idea, but technically not possible.
Can't sign & trade Grant til FA begins in July. You can say agree in principle, etc, but even that probably violates tampering rules since you have to get Grant to agree to sign there. Would have to be DAL drafting him, with no pre-arranged plans, and then we just happen to S&T Grant there later...

Could you sign and trade Grant to Phoenix with Brogdon? At 14 million that's 36 million outgoing but because of BYC it only lets us take back 5 or 6 million in incoming.
Takes your payroll to about 166 million for nine players and two 2-ways.. moving off Smart for cap relief/assets (Gary Harris, Jalen Suggs) drops you to 156. You use the full MLE and go back above the tax line to 168 in payroll.
White/Suggs/Pritchard/Davison
Jaylen/??
Tatum/Hauser
Al/Gallo/Kabengele
Rob/Ayton/Muscala/Luke
You MLE a combo guard, a wing who can playmake or a 4.
That's 15. Waive Muscala or trade Pritchard for a future second-rounder and you might squeak under the tax.

I wouldn’t trade for Ayton.. dude needs the wizard of Oz…. He doesn’t change anything for us and makes what over 35 miles a year?
Good assessment:

Guys, Dallas is not trading a lottery pick for Grant. Non-stars don't land nearly that much in a S&T.

ah, bummer. Darn rules lol
It was a long shot anyways for Dallas to give up that pick for Grant. Oh well..

Sometimes two teams just happen to like the same player.. or two teams "just happen to like" the same player
