Hell no to multiple picks for Caruso.

That is all for today.

Walsh is a nobody now? Dude, he just scored a whole basket in an NBA game. Un. Touch. Able. 8-)

I do hope he sticks around. Nice guy, good story, I think he'll reach his potential, which is quite high. If a godfather offer comes in I will shed a tear and move on. Otherwise I want to see him playing here when he's grown into his man bones.

Agree about not betting on Drummond or giving up too many future assets for Caruso. There will be value shaking loose before the dealine. Brad is in his come-to-daddy mode. It may be something nobody is talking about, or maybe nada.

Offer picks for Lonnie Walker to give that guy who can attack the rim off the bench.

I probably wouldn't describe Lonnie Walker that way.

His FTr is insanely low. His 3Pr is insanely high. And he's only made 68 shots inside the arc this season.

By comparison, Kispert also has a crazy high 3Pr. But he has a higher FTr than Walker and has made 107 shots inside the arc..including going 6/6 inside the arc in his last game..
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

Caruso is definitely a step above Payton. He's a vastly better defender, he's a much more efficient scorer, including from 3 on the same number of attempts. He's a natural role player who isn't going to try to do too much, which is perfect on a team that has so much high-end talent. Add him and we move from having the best top 6 in the league to the best top 7. With Hauser rounding out the top 8, that playoff rotation is absolutely elite.

Plus Caruso has one year left, so if it works out we can basically run the whole team back. If for whatever reason Jrue bails on us, Caruso can step in and keep us from taking a major step back in terms of talent.

BOS: Alex Caruso, Andre Drummond and Torrey Craig

CHI: BOS '24 1st, BOS '26 1st, CHI '24 2nd, Payton Pritchard, Dalano Banton, Svi Mykhailiuk and Lamar Stevens

Caruso replaces Pritchard in the rotation. Drummond shores up the frontcourt (even if he doesn't play any minutes ahead of Kornet). Craig is wing depth that won't realistically see the floor.

Is it an overpayment? Probably. Does it make us significantly better? Absolutely.

Seems like they might have a hard time saying no to that. An overpay by a bit. Maybe make that 26 pick a swap a bit further out.

I think first and foremost, you have to look for someone who fits into a healthy playoff rotation. There are 240 minutes total across the 5 positions in a game. Our top 6 seem reasonable to forecast for:

Tatum - 40
Brown - 38
Holiday - 36
White - 34
Porzingis - 32
Horford - 28

Give or take on each guy, but as a general starting point, just those 6 count for 208 minutes. So across the whole rest of the roster, there's another 32 minutes up for grabs in the playoffs.

Then you have to look at positions. There are 48 minutes available at the C spot. In that top 6, we have Horford and Porzingis combining for 60 minutes. So just off of that, we're playing 12 minutes per game with double big men - 25% of the game. Just basic math to get there if we play those guys that much. So if we're talking about playing another big man with those remaining minutes, just by math it's going to push us into playing double big for more than the 25% of the game we're already doing it.

Now look at the guard position, PG specifically. There are 48 minutes at PG. Have to think Holiday/White will have their rest staggered so that one of them is always on the floor. They're playing a combined 70 minutes here. So between the two of them, you'd more than cover all of the needed minutes at the PG spot. So while you CAN play another guard like Pritchard, you don't HAVE to.

They need a horse who knows how to box out and rebound. Poor rebounding is this team's achilles heel. Every missed rebound is an extra possession for the opposing team.

We are 10th in the league in defensive board % and 16th in offensive board %.

Ideally yes, but I wouldn't balk at including it as an unprotected pick if that gets it over the line.

In fairness, our 2024 pick is pretty much guaranteed to be 28-30th in the draft. That '26 pick has very little upside and is likely in that same range. The deal isn't that far off from three good 2nds and Pritchard for Caruso.

If anything I'd try to keep the Chicago 2nd, which likely ends up only 7-8 spots behind our own 2024 first and try to land some cheap depth that will help us as a 2nd apron team.

Three days to go we can kill another hundred pages on a Mike Muscala level move no doubt.

If true, I like that they're looking at Delon Wright. Just in case Bulls are being bullheaded or we get outbid for Caruso. Backup combo guard/PG is the spot we can significantly upgrade (mainly because of size/defense) with the resources we have. Of course if Burks becomes available via buyout, Tatum and Brad need to do a fullcourt press to sign him.

I'm lukewarm on any realistic possibilities for a Luke "upgrade"/replacement.

Not to mention that Neemias Queta was 29 points, 29 rebounds PER 36 minutes last night :D

If we win banner 18, doubt anyone will be complaining about picks we gave up to do it.

I would shop everybody outside the top 5 tbh including Horford just to see what you can get. With Embiid out of commission and the Bucks looking more and more like a first-round exit, his value drops in my eyes. Not saying I would do it, but it's worth looking into. We need bucket-getters, toughness, and rebounding when the 3's aren't falling. Add in some picks and maybe you can upgrade your #6 and #7 slots.

Ultimately, we probably make a small move not trading in our rotation similar to the Muscala move, and look to pick up a body on the BO market.

Starting with the first day of the offseason, teams over the second apron in 2023-24:

like the Boston Celtics

can't take back more salary in a trade;

are not allowed to aggregate contracts;

are restricted from sending out cash in deals;

and are restricted from using preexisting trade exceptions to acquire a player.

Biggest reason why I think Brad Stevens is going to be really aggressive over the next few days.
