Aldridge leaves Portland -contender team- and will want to play in boston because WCS aka mcgee 2.0 is the player selected by boston.

smart, dragic, leonard/harris, love/aldridge, marc gasol is more realistic, at least two great players and other good players will play together, but only aldridge in this type of team hasn't sense.

Monroe, Milsap and Kuofos are realistic. Leonard's not happening...

I like Monroe but he's not a good fit on this roster with Sullinger already here. Millsap is staying in Atlanta. Kuofos, no thanks. I'd rather draft WCS.

Do you want Danny Ainge to go all Joe Dumars on us and fork out major deals to Charlie V and Ben Gordon? common!!! you're better then that

I can see Ainge signing one of those guys. Depends who's available in the draft though. Also, I don't think they'll pass on Monroe because they have Sully. Monroe's a better player, and they can always move Sully. Got have some established players to attract the 2016 free agents.

Looks like Houston's wings have struggled, especially their new European guy. They could package him and Shved on the 18th, day before the deadline. Would fit in a deal with Prince nicely.

to what end?. we actually add a little salary. are Kostas P and Sved guys we would want going forward? or just to help Housto stay ahead of the Clippers?

I'd take Papanikolau in a heartbeat. The guy has potential and was playing well. He's still not even 25 years old. I doubt Houston does it tho, knowing who their gm is.
Good assessment:

Yes, the Celts would like to have a ticket — or, more precisely, a number of ping-pong ball combinations — for that draft position raffle.

That doesn’t mean the club will become the Washington Generals in the last few weeks of the season if the poor overall quality of the Leastern Conference threatens to make them a playoff team. The Celtics still want to play every game to win and to have a legitimate chance to win, believing that’s the best environment in which to develop young players. (No argument here.)

But it’s fair to assume the club wouldn’t mind weakening its roster and, at the same time, strengthening its future over the next nine days. With the Feb. 19 league trade deadline bearing down, sources say Danny Ainge and his lieutenant, Mike Zarren, have continued to work to find warm and caring homes — and a draft pick — for some of the veterans who are helping them be competitive.

As it stands, NBA execs are telling us that Tayshaun Prince has the greatest immediate value on the market. He’s on the last year of his contract ($7 million), and, despite a recent hip issue, he’s shown he can still play.

As one source put it, “He knows how to play, and he’s played in big games. Someone hoping to make a playoff run is going to want him, even if it’s just for depth or insurance.”

The problem, according to conversations, is that clubs may hold their breath, keep the second-rounder the Celts are going to want and take their chances that Prince will be bought out if he’s not dealt by a week from Thursday.

Teams have been talking about Brandon Bass since early in the season, but, so far, no one’s come close to offering anything to pry him away.

“It’s crazy,” said one Western Conference source. “People have seen how well he’s played in Boston, but it’s as if they’ve backed off him because of how he played in Dallas or Orlando. I don’t get it. We don’t have a need for him right now, but whoever gets him is going to like what he can do, even if it’s just in limited minutes.”

Fair to say the sources are Ryan McDonough.

There is also a good little blurb about James Young.

I think its wishfull thinking to get anything for these guys since not many teams want to look foolish coughing up anything for a 3 month rental. That said, I wonder if we can leverage that Sixer 2nd (basically a late first rounder) AND one of Prince, Bass, or Thornton, to get a real first rounder back this year or next. Something like this would only move us 5-6 spots ....but something is better than nothing.

You're going to be waiting a LONG time on that. If they get Karl, you might as well just move on as he's going to have a two year window to try and rebuild with Cuz. And given that he's signed long-term, there is just no rush to having to trade what could very possibly be the most talented big man in the NBA.

People need to be looking for the next Paul Millsap, Eric Bledsoe, Kawhi Leonard, Paul George and Josuf Nurkic. Much more likely that's the type of guy the Celtics get. A young player underused or under appreciated by his drafted team, or high upside full size wings and centers in the draft or free agency.

Dude -- other then those 2 weirdo plays that Cousin's didn't move, I love this kid. I love his attitude, all that.

His comments somewhere along of the lines of - I just play, the front office hires & fires coaches. -- is awesome. Put him on a good team with a lot of effort & he'll make it work. He's been there 5 years & handled himself. That situation is tough in Sacramento.

My plan -- give up everything to get this guy. Besides Smart. whatever picks they want, Young, expirings, whatever needed to get this guy. Take back their bad deals. WHATEVER we have to do to get this stud.

Take Thompson back, or Landry, or both. Man whatever. We give & take whatever needed to build around Smart & Cousins.

Agree. We either land a really good draft pick, or catch lightning in a bottle like Houston did with Harden.

If Cousins were to ever hit the market, it would be the K.Love situation all over again. We'd be offering Sully and mid first rders, while another team offers Andrew Wiggins .. all while Celtics board "insiders" get our hopes up by saying something is going down and Gotham this and Gotham that ..... Ok. I need to relax.

Ainge was interviewed on Toucher and Rich and said he's heading over to Europe through the All Star Break. Find that pretty interesting with a week to go before the deadline. I know that you can still do just about everything you need to as far as communication with your staff/other GMs, but it's not the same comfort level.

It isn't about anyone giving up value necessarily the issue is salary. Who has a 7 mil in salary to move to acquire one of these guys? Beyond that who believes Ainge is really going to play hardball with them when and if they ask for a buyout? He doesn't even really want them on the team now. I wouldn't be shocked if Bass and Thornton want to go the Hump route where they keep putting up numbers and hope their agent can leverage their Bird Rights into a sweet little S&T deal that gets them a better salary next year. That is why I think Prince has more "value" or interest but it isn't as a trade chip but that teams expect him to ask for the buyout after the deadline.
