Jeremy Lin donates one million dollars to his alma mater Harvard in Boston, the city he spent 4 years playing for.

I agree. Curry, Thompson, KD or Green could go down and they'd still be good enough to win a title. It was nice seeing them get beat so soundly but the reality is it could take them a few games to figure everything out.
Those guys could score 100 by the end of 3 quarters regularly, sit their whole starting squad and ride out the win during the 4th quarter with a 15pt 4th from their scrubs and still win most games by +10. They'll average 28-30 per quarter easy this year with that starting crew. This was a little hick-up.
Hiccup.
Hick-ups is what Larry didn't have.
We really need 15+ mpg from Looney, McCraw, Clark, McGee, Macadoo. That's more than possible.
Just a bad game. They'll be 8-2 after the first 10 & no one will be talking about it.
It is crazy though how I was rooting for them in the west, & they get Durant (who I do like) & I hate them so much now.

Re: Around the NBA Thread 2016-17
I watched the game and I would be concerned if I were Steve Kerr. GS had only 16 assists on 40 baskets, and six of those were from Draymond Green. The Spurs had 25 on 47 baskets. Golden State was also outrebounded 55-35.
Durant took most of Klay Thompson's shots. Meanwhile, the Spurs' bench outscored the Warriors' bench 54-21. Jonathan Simmons (Jonathan who?) had almost as many points by himself as the entire Golden State bench. Simmons, Patty Mills and Ginobili had one open three after another.

yeah, what curm is saying here is the real story here. turnstiles on defense, poor passing, durant still iso'ing on the high post. every time they ran a proper action for him to the basket it worked, like how **** hard is it to get the players to share the ball and pass it.

Harvard isn't ruining Cambridge. The real estate that Harvard and MIT don't already own has become too expensive.
Harvard is ruining Allston instead.

It's only a matter of time before Klay realizes he's getting dumped on and left out in the cold. He may very well average the lowest points per game of his career now. He can't be happy with that.
And I find it extremely funny how Durant says the home opener loss was a slap in the face and a wakeup call. That goes along with his comments of when he first got to the team and said how relaxed they all were. The nonchalant work ethic can implode at any time. I think their 2014 easy road to the finals was just that: an easy road they'll never get again.

I think their bench issues are overrated. Their big 4 plays 33-34mpg each. They need 70-75 mins from their bench. Iggy 24, Livingston 20. West can handle 16mpg. Those 3 are older, but but have good iq's & are still valuable.

same here. I live in SF for several years and sort of adopted them before they started this great run with Klay, Steph, and Green. Up till last year's playoffs I was a fan. But something changed for me. I started to notice that Steph plays very sloppy. Like I'm so good I can play in my sleep. And just like CLE exposed that type of lazy play because they can D it up, SA did that last night. Seeing him play like he's too cool for school is a huge turn off for me. Also, Green with the punching the groin shennanigans costing them game 5 was a bad look. I find it hard to root for them now. I'm still looking forward to seeing them firing on all cylinders but I'm no longer actively hoping for their success.

Re: Around the NBA Thread 2016-17
One of their problems is they match up poorly with SA. They'll still be first in the West, but they'll have more regular season losses. They got KD to matchup in the finals but they may not get there.
Bogut leaving is a very real loss for that defense. They lacked size against SA and it showed. The rim was open most of the night.

I am gonna LMAO when GS starts imploding because Klay ain't getting his touches and stops playing defense. Remember that GS has him guarding the opponents' best guard because Steph can't defend my grandmother.
Klay is the key to that team and if he becomes fourth banana after KD, Steph and Draymond, he is going to cause issues for that team.

Harvard has a 35 billion dollar endowment, and their campus food services workers just had to go on strike to keep a decent wage and benefits package. They also just got a big grant to study inequality.
And here's a fun one, I can source this if you don't believe me- the current focus on subjective criteria like "extracurriculars" in college admissions stems from the fact that Harvard's old model, a straight entrance exam, was failing to weed out undesirables, especially Jewish people.
I'm in grad school, not sure if I want to, or will be able to, stay in academia, despite being smart and a good teacher- in part because there's so little funding, more and more classes taught by adjuncts- and in part because there's a dirty cycle where scumlords in finance suck up all the bright, privileged, unprincipled people who can't think of anything better to do than make money, then those people make donations to the schools they were taken from, like Harvard. So more **** Harvard could help. (Admissions are also a joke, everywhere, they're so faux-meritocratic, and in reality, totally bogus. Yet they have a ton of power. And schools like Harvard actually thrive on being "selective", so they recruit as many applicants as possible in order to turn away as many as possible, even if their admissions is mostly subjective, because all the top schools turn away more qualified, prepared students than they have room for. It's artificial scarcity to inflate the value of higher education.)
