It makes zero sense for them to rush into anything. It would be knee-jerk and stupid.
IMO, Lakers could offer their entire team besides LeBron and I'd still prefer the Celtics package and probably even what the Knicks can offer.

You might be right. Just a prediction.
I hope DDB is correct but my official prediction is that he ends up on the Lakers as well. Not trying to be a wet blanket just want to get that in ink somewhere.
I know that we are all laughing at the Lakers' and Rich Paul's obvious ploy to force the Pels to trade AD to them. We all know that they are going to float the idea of AD not wanting to sign with anyone other than the Lakers after 2020. That doesn't really worry the Pelicans at this point, because they know Danny is still coming strong in July with a good offer.
HOWEVER, here's another way to apply pressure to the Pels:
- The Lakers have a ton of expiring contracts available. About $30 million worth
- they do have a bunch of young players, who, while not as good as Tatum, are still pretty good prospects
- Kuzma, Ball, and Ingram, combined, make about $18 million next year.
I think that before the end of this coming weekend, we are going to start hearing rumors that the Lakers have a deal lined up for another All-Star. Magic and Pelinka are going to threaten the Pels and say "Hey, if you're not going to trade us AD, we are going to ship him off to *insert team* for *insert All-Star*. They are ready to go. Just giving one last chance. If not, then good luck dealing with Danny Ainge next summer!! He is going to bend you guys over when he realizes that there are no other strong suitors for AD".
This, along with the Knicks getting the 1st pick overall, are the scenarios that worry me.
