DLO's salary is expiring in a tank season. Doesn't hurt them one bit. While they get off the salaries of DFS (player option likely gets picked up) and Milton (multi-year).
Nets should've demanded more though.

Russell's contract is expiring. Could also be used as salary ballast in a trade to land a good player (assuming the CBA allows for Russell to be traded again before the deadline, I have no idea).

Can be traded immediately by himself, but not aggregated with other salaries (60-day waiting period).

I would expect a retrade or buyout. I think he’d be a great tank commander, but they may not want to risk someone putting up points.

OKC or Cavs should trade for him to create more parity in the league.

Dang now Suggs is out with a wrist injury. Magic without their top 4 scorers.
Edit: And currently on a 20-2 run to take a late lead vs Nets right now. Orlando wins it on a Cole Anthony floater.

Re: Around the NBA (and other Sports), 2024-25
I'm starting to think that the NBA is more corrupt than I previously suspected.
The Lakers average 24.3 Free Throws per game.
The Celtics average 17.4 Free Throws per game.
There is no way that the Lakers endure more contact than the Celtics per game. The refs just don't give the Celtics the whistles that the Lakers get. You could say the league carries the Lakers, more than a bit, since they have the most lucrative local TV contract of any NBA Team by a MILE. But the NBA also sticks it to Tatum and Brown, in particular, by not putting them on the line as much as they are entitled.
Like I said, it's a corrupt league, running a business, and determining outcomes thru the refereeing. But now that they have sports betting, you have to factor that in if you're going to put your money on one side or the other.

I've seen a few Laker games this season.
Reason why they're getting to the FT line is they're focusing on scoring inside than shooting 3s.
How can the Celtics get to the FT line if they keep shooting 3s?
So that answers your question about the Lakers enduring more contact.

Another fight tonight, Herro got thrown hard to the ground.Surprisingly he was able to get up. Amen thompson should be suspended for at least five games for that one. IME also thrown out.

Re: Around the NBA (and other Sports), 2024-25
Playoff teams in the west caught a break after the Nets rejected the Grizz trade offer for Finney-Smith. He would have fit right in with that Memphis roster.
It was surprising that Brooklyn turned down a 25’ 1st because of where it was most likely going to land (currently 25-30 range). That would have given them 5 1st round picks in the 25’ draft. Cap space is more important than draft picks for Marks it seems.
Can the C’s help them reduce future cap space also for a little draft compensation?
C’s get Whitehead and the rights to the Bucks 25’ 1st
Nets get Springer and the rights to the Wiz 25’ 2nd
Nets unload 3mil in salary for 25’ season and get a valuable 2nd
C’s get another future prospect and a potential pick in the teens.
This trade would hurt the cap even more but if they don’t win the chip then imo a sell off is very possible. Moving KP, Jrue makes a ton of sense and getting ahead by inserting some youth with a decent draft slot is the way to go.

New Orleans Pelicans threatening Washington Wizards for leagues worst record and, in the process, coming for our #31 draft pick.
This coming Friday and Sunday, Washington and NOP play a home and home against each other, only two games between them this year. Big stakes for ping pong ball positioning, with BOTH teams looking to go 0-2… lol…
Since we have the Wiz 2nd, it’s let’s go Pelicans!! NOP beating Wash twice is best, most desired outcome for the C’s

via Dan Devine on BlueSky:
There is a Kalen Etzler who's draft-eligible in 2026. Hope the Bulls land him. There's also a Ralen Brown who's undrafted in 2022. So CHI gotta sign him too.
Checking with the Elias Sports Bureau to confirm, but I believe the Bulls are the first team in NBA history to throw out a lineup with a Jalen, a Dalen and a Talen in it.

The Knicks are just rolling right now. Celtics better get their act together or they will be looking up at the Knicks.

Even if all the games in a 7-game series will be played in NY, Cs will still beat the Knicks 4-1.

Keep thinking that from what you seen of this team. Right now you can make an argument they’re the 3ed best team in the east based on their play.

3rd, 4th, or even 5th best in the regular season means nothing when the playoffs start.
I'll do you one better.
The Celtics are just the 4th best team in the east right now.
That's based on their play.
