Celts trade Baylor Scheierman to Sacto

Kings trade Orlando Robinson plus 2 2RD picks to Philadelphia

Philadelphia trades Yabu to Boston

Pretty sure it does.

Sheierman gets paid 2.49 million. Yabs 2.09 million. From my understanding of the rules that should be ok. Celtics taking back lesser salary. Philly taking back less than 125% of what they send out.

It fails in the espn trade checker and the trade machine says Philly is taking back too much salary. Works on real GM trade checker.

PHI over the 1st apron is what screws it up. I don't know if they have avenues to get below it. If not, we basically can't trade with them. Would need a 3rd team to eat (minimal) salary so both BOS and PHI send out more than they take back.

Works with Springer as well. SAC could use some D. PHI could use a center. Hmm... We'd have to sweeten it for PHI, most likely.

Bring back The Dancing Bear??

I'm not saying there's a correlation (there is none lol)... BUT there are zero teams that have a winning percentage vs. the Celtics since the Celtics waived Yabusele.

You could have given me 10 guesses and I wouldn't have figured out that Utah is the team that gives the Celtics the most trouble in recent years.

Not since Gobert and Mitchell were traded (1-3). I do remember we struggled in a couple of games vs. them 'cos like Mazzulla Ball, they took and made a ton of threes plus were great at constant movement, both player and ball. Mitchell might be one of those rare star contemporaries that have a winning record vs. Tatum.

Yeah Ws and Lakers would have been the first coming to mind, my guess is these were back in the Gobert/Mitchell days but I'd have to check.

Amazing no team has a winning record in that span tho that's wild.

Who's on the block?

Things to consider:
- AL will be back for a 3 peat dynasty label? Right? 2 year Westbrook deal with the 2nd being a player option? :D
- C's get Luke's Bird Rights and he is playing like a guy who should get a multi year deal.
- Can't combine contracts in a trade.
- 154mil Cap with a 188mil lux tax threshold projection?

I can't see any team wanting KP and I'm fine with that. Hopefully it's just a heel right now. They'll manage him the best they can next season.

I think XMan will be a simple trade whether it's at the deadline or in the offseason.

It depends on what happens in the playoffs and how well Jrue holds up. Some guards really fall off around 34, 35 years and some maintain for a few years more. Chris Paul was how old when Phoenix went to the Finals in 2021, like 36 years?

Jrue oftentimes starts regular season slow, he did last year and then was awesome in the playoffs. If Jrue is awesome in the playoffs again, our third best player as he was last year, then it’s a real conundrum with the 2nd apron and, obviously the repeater tax. It seems like Tatum is unmovable, Brown is highly unlikely to be moved. And the remaining big salaries are White, KP and Jrue. White is youngest, most impactful for regular season wins, Jrue is most impactful in the playoffs, KP is most positionally valuable but with he worst injury situation and only one year remaining.

Some people are like the obvious solution is to move Jrue. And I just don’t agree that that is the obvious solution if you want to raise banners. If you at Jrue career playoff impact (+/-, on/off) Holiday is just a much higher impact playoff performer than White. So it’s not clear to me at all, if Jrue has another playoffs where he is the 3rd best player on a title team, that the solution is to dump him. I would do everything possible to keep him.

Obviously age will have a big say in the matter and I am curious to see if Jrue declines from last years playoff performance

I can't see it being Jrue also. At least next season. He's too good when it really counts. He's gonna win them a playoff game, or 2 or 3 :D

It's not my money when it comes to 2nd apron ramifications and restrictions, but at least we know that players can't be combined in any deals.

So if a team was willing to take a big money contract from us, they couldn't also ask for a young player to be added in the deal. Or I could be totally wrong. :dontknow:

What the Celtics can do is make it 2 separate trades.

For example, Celtics trade Jrue for a player getting less money than Jrue then make another trade, with the same team, like Baylor for a draft pick.

Can't combine, but can make 2 separate trades with one team.

I'd throw out a few names they might look at - old friend Daniel Theis, fellow Hornet Jeremiah Robinson Earl, and old SL nemesis Sandroxander MamuMamukelalalashvili.

Theis might make a lot of sense if they are not satisfied with Tillman's production as their (reasonably) switchable bench big.

If the Cs aggregate they have to end up under the 2nd apron and stay there (hard capped) so in theory it’s possible, but really not likely.

I’ll do it if it guarantees 5 straight chips for the Celts, starting this season (so 6, 5 from the trade)! :D

I agree. MPJ is a bit younger, but not much. I think it only makes sense for Brooklyn if a pick is added.

Himmelsbach:

Players on nonguaranteed contracts will have their deals fully guaranteed if they remain on rosters past Jan. 7. This does not apply to anyone on the Celtics’ current roster, but it’s worth keeping an eye on that date, anyway, because they still have an empty roster spot and are expected to monitor the activity of teams with players on nonguaranteed deals, according to a league source.

Return to Boston Celtics
