Re: Trade Thread 2021-22: To Trade Or Trade Not
Ignoring Simmons as an option for the Celtics, feels like we jumped the gun a bit with the Kemba deal.
Think Simmons has to be traded now with the way he was thrown under the bus by Embiid and Doc. That will inevitably shake some other things loose in terms of other trade opportunities by virtue of causing other big pieces to move around. In particular it'll change the PG landscape for a number of teams.
Maybe Horford ends up still being the best option to get off of Kemba, but I can't help but think we'd have been better off waiting to see what happened in the rest of the playoffs before settling.

Why would the Lakers agree to that? TT and Parker are both washed. Though that lineup would rival any team, even the Nets super team.
I think the lakers do that because
1) Davis wants to play PF, so they need a center who can perform his role in the playoffs. Thompson has won in the past with Lebron, is only a single year contract, and Parker will bring offense to the bench in a similar role of Kuzma. Perhaps they need a little sweetener, but shouldnt need much. imo.
And I did type uop a bit too quick while I was between thoughts and breakfast. It really isnt financially possible as constructed.
Come on man, they would laugh at TT and Parker. They are on a win now mode with father time catching up with Lebron. They didn’t even play Harrell that much in the playoffs, and he is definitely 1000 times better and younger than TT. Parker is end of the bench talent right now. They can definitely find better offers for Kuzma than Parker and TT.

That may be true, but Brad probably wants this thing over the soonest. Don’t want this hanging in their heads the whole short off season. Now they can focus on getting a coach, and improving the roster. This was a good start Brad, on having a bigger, balanced roster.

If the Celtics waited then someone else would have traded for Horford and the Celtics would have been stuck with Kemba.
Good move to act quickly and rid the team of Kemba before the options dried up in my opinion

I am sure the deal isnt 100% finalized yet and can be updated at any time.
Perhaps we end up sending KEmba to Philly and Simmons here or okc, or someone else to OKC.
Kemba and pick to Philly
Thompson and Romeo to OKC
Simmons and HOrford to Boston.

I don't blame him for wanting it to be over or for making the move, I just think it's a lesson for the future.
I gotta think there is going to be some sort of point guard round robin with Simmons involved and we've locked ourselves out of it now that we've paid to get Horford. Not the end of the world, but I don't see the upside of getting it down before the finals ended.

Also we improved on a glaring weakness on our roster. We are small on every position last year, now we got bigger.

No one else was/would be trying to get Horford. He wasn't exactly a prime target being massively overpaid as well and 35.

Listening to Embiid say the turning point in game was when Simmons was afraid to take an open dunk when he was the guy with unforced turnover with score 96-92 leading to game winning dunk by Gallinari will definitely ease the pain of this terribly disappointing Celtics campaign.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

Why would OKC want to let us get in on that? They'd just take Simmons or assets from team 3.

Rather have Horford than Simmons. But Kemba for Simmons still could happen. I could see OKC maybe biting. Maybe LAL too. LeBron really likes Simmons and might be inclined to trade for him

Harrell will be leaving. I am incredibly confident in that.
Also, Kuzma will be traded and not for alot, he already removed Lakers from IG and alot of wierd stuff going on there.

https://lakersdaily.com/lakers-kyle-kuzma-looking-for-bigger-role-elsewhere/
Kuzma value is terrible. 4 year long contract, just came off a TERRIBLE playoffs
29% from floor 17% from 3.
His value for Laker is completely shot.
They have a massive need for bigmen. 1st and foremost. They also need a point guard but they can get one of those easily enough by either resigning Schroeder of nabbing any ring chasing vet off the free agency market.
Kuzma is their ONLY trade piece right now. That is it, and the most glaring hole to fill is front court.
So, IMO, THompson, Parker and a small asset is more than enough for Kuzma

I really like Lonzo Ball here. A lineup of Lonzo, Brown, Tatum, Horford and Timelord/Moses, and a finishing lineup of
Lonzo
Fournier
Brown
tatum
Horford
Would be a good offensive and defensive lineup.

Yep, I have zero interest in Simmons and I hope that Brad Stevens has even less.

Depends on the price.
IF you can get him without moving Tatum, Smart, Brown, Fournier or Horford you have to take that chance.
Simmons
FOurnier
Brown
Tatum
Horford
That is a very intresting lineup.
