I'm only 17 living in Virginia. Became a Celtics fan/Pierce fan back in 1999. Die hard Celtics fan, always watching them play even when the games end around 1:30 a.m. on school nights when they're at the west coast trip, always going to defend this team and always be a Celtics fan for life.

Awesome. This is a cool thread. Mid 20's. Born, raised, and still living in the Midwest. Airball was one of my first words. I started watching Bird et al., alhough it was 1990 bird. Parish was one of my favorite players from that team.

I loved Dino Radja's game. I remember Kevin Gamble hitting long-range buzzer beaters. Favorite Celtic ever is Pierce. I got to see the last regular season game ever in the United Center (Bulls) against the Celtics. It went double overtime and Dee Brown dropped 40. I was 9. Mind blown. I have a Dee Brown jersey hanging in my closet (although never worn) to this day.

I work a few jobs, play some music, play ultimate Frisbee, and drink good beer.

Matt, please consider "stickying" this thread, & let it gradually fill up over time. I find it very interesting. I would also like to see more "middle-aged" Cs fanatics join in. :0)

When I was in the army, we did a joint special operations training exercise with Australian troops from Campbell Barracks (WA) at Bindoon. We got to go to Perth but that was it. I would love to go back and visit Australia again but as a civilian, of course.

Old, live in San Diego, work in the environmental field (just to keep it vague). Native of Boston Propah, raised there and lived in various parts of the West Coast for about the last 10 years. Still miss the smell of cigars during halftime/intermission at the Garden. Just the best place to see a game.

What about memorabilia? Anybody have anything cool?

Stories? Favorite games? This thread should be huge.

Who has the most obscure jersey? Being a UConn guy I did own a Travis Knight jersey, but luckily I lost that piece of crap some years back.

Here is a question to people who went to the original garden. I remember going as a kid and going to the "store" if you will. I think back then it had some Bruin related name. Did they have like a locker set-up for most of the players? Each players jersey hanging and for sale? I remember being surprised that anyone would buy an Alaa Abdelnaby jersey

Funny that you bring up Uconn jerseys. outside of the Celtics, Uconn is my favorite basketball team. i actually have Ray Allen, Richard Hamilton, Rudy Gay, and Donny Marshall (lol) Uconn jerseys.

I have a handful of NBA jerseys as well. I have a Bird jersey, a Russell jersey hanging up on my wall. KG Minny and Celtic jerseys. Pierce, Shaq Phoenix jersey, and a Michael Jordan jersey I got from my uncle one year. No real obscure NBA jerseys. That Donny Marshall Uconn jersey is probably the most obscure one I own, and that has been at the bottom of a box for years now. I refuse to wear it haha.

Did you guys ever have a favorite jersey you liked to sport in pick up games? I always rocked my KG Minny jersey back in the day (that black timberwolves jersey was killer). Now I either wear his Celtic jersey, or my Pierce jersey.

Agreed stojo my intentions when making it were to get this big of Celtics game stories and things like that. And ex it will be considered.

Surprisingly I only own 2 jerseys. That's one KG green, and one Ray Allen finals white. Have plenty of jersey shirts though, delonte west, ryan gomes, etc... My old pierce jersey shirt got ruined after years of wear and tear. I'll probably buy an authentic jersey when he retires.

As for other stuff, I mean just a bunch of randoms. From mini hoops to towels, from key chains to bumper stickers. No real expensive memorabilia besides a Bird plaque.

17/m/Canada (eh!)

Became a Celtics hand in the the early 00's because the Pats were my team, my parents from Boston and I started getting into Basketball. Hated Kobe/Shaq for some reason and so only felt logical to cheer for the Lakers arch rival. Favorite Celtic growing up was Toine. Always thought he was a boss fro the shuffle.

Applying to colleges this year and hoping my Parents don't die of a heart attack. I'm 6'2 and drive a Yaris. It's very uncomfortable.

I owned his celtic jersey! Let me see if I can find my Lyman DePriest Uconn jersey.

When I was younger I was all about the obscure jersey. Everyone and their mother had a Jordan jersey back in the day so I would try and stick out. From my Calbert Cheaney bullets jersey to my Mookie Blaylock hawks away jersey, I loved them weird. However, my best and most obscure is....what for it.....this is for real......never saw anyone else with this in over 20 years......Yinka Dare.

Oh, you said memorabilia. I thought said paraphenalia. I was about to wax poetic about my foot bamboo affectionately named "Foghorn Leghorn".

Being on leave from the army and seeing the Lakers last game at the Garden. Nick Van Exel hitting a fall-away three pointer to beat the Celtics. You can see it at the end of this video.

Man, David Wesley was incredibly raw back then.

I remember Tommy nicknaming Brian Shaw, Reggie Lewis, Dee Brown and Kevin Gamble the "Zip Boys" in the 1991 season (I actually had a couple t-shirts with that on it.)

I also remember during the 1991 season watching Drazen Petrovic go off against the Celtics and being in love with his game.

Chris Ford hitting the very first 3-pointer in the history of the league during the 1979-80 season. Tiny Archibald being my favorite player. Then there was Danny Ainge, Easy Eddie Pinckney (who I loved at Villanova when he knocked off Ewing) and Kevin Gamble.

I went into the army in 1992 so most of my following at that point was restricted to box scores, magazines, Sporting News and the occasional national game. It was during this time that I really started breaking the game down statistically and stuff. I used to breakdown box scores on MRE boxes when we were out on training exercises or otherwise deployed. The spades players in my unit disliked it because they would usually use the MRE box as both a table and scorecard and my calculations would usually be written on it.

I followed the team as best as I could during up through the mid-90s but, when my unit wasn't in training, I spent most of that period near Seattle. Went to probably 100 or so Sonics' games during that time frame at Seattle Center, Tacoma Dome and then later at KeyArena.

I got involved in youth coaching on post. Made a few contacts in the Tacoma area and did some advanced scouting at both high school and small college level in the Puget Sound area. Kicked it a couple times with Marques Johnson, actually. Friend of a friend. Pretty affable guy except for the fact that kept hitting on my (then) wife.

Got reassigned to Kentucky-Tennessee later in the 90s. Balled with Chris Witney, Greg Buckner, Bubba Wells and Trent Hassell when he was still in high school. Used to talk shop with Bird Averitt during his recovery. Former ABA player who had a short stint in the NBA. Played ball throughout my army time until 98 when I was at FT Bragg and dislocated my knee (think Shawn Livingston) jumping out of perfectly sound aircraft.

Since the internet came along, it has become a lot easier to follow the Celtics. When I was over in China, I was able to continue watching games via the slingbox. I really appreciate online forums because I find it great that people can share insights and stuff.

Oh, my favorite Celtics player of all-time is Kendrick Perkins. I root for the laundry, though.

I'm approaching late 20's. Grew up in CT, went to UConn. White, finance guy. Investing is my passion.

Sports: LOVE Celtics/Patriots/Sox, UConn Basketball and US Men National Team (Soccer). Ray Allen is a childhood hero. I Despise Duke. Pierce has been my favorite Celt since his rookie year. I love KG, Ray, Rondo, and Perk. This team has been so much fun to watch. I also love Celtics that fall into the “lunch pail, blue-collar” category, who know their role: i.e. rebound, defend, hustle, etc. and don’t whine (such as Grant Long!). My favorite non-celtic is Steve Nash.

My death-row meal would be filet and lobster tail, washed down by a Sam Adams, and served by a topless Salma Hayak lookalike.

1. We share the Truth as our super hero - obviously.
2. College in NE at the college voted by Forbes in June 2011 as the best institution of higher learning in the USA (small college or big university [Ivy or not]).
3. Med school at Duke - but I rarely root for them.
4. You are in the generation of my daughters. I am well preserved, but getting frigging older.
5. My favorite meal any day would be every millimeter of Cameron Diaz' body.

I'm UConn/Columbia, if you are Harvard/Duke, you'd be my arch enemy haha. Given the way you phrased it though, my guess is Amherst or Williams.

29, from France (not very good in English but I try to make it work ! ). Celtics fan since 1989 (thanks dad). Not a Patriots fan, but a Jaguars fan.

Everytime I can, I woke up to watch live games on the internet. When it's 7 PM in Boston, it's 1 AM in France...can tell you it's a long day when you have to work at 7 AM !!!

I will come to the Garden, I don't know when, but I'm sure I will cry. My girlfriend hates me for my passion about the Celtics, but she would love to see the city, so we are fine lol.

22, grew up in Cambridge but often found myself in Beacon Hill(Near the Boston Common if some of you aren't aware) where my uncle lived. As a youth I found myself venturing over the long fellow bridge to catch celtics games. I grew up a die hard Celtics and Red Sox fan. Because i'm pursuing a job in law enforcement I now find myself living outside Hartford, Connecticut. Once I can afford the substantial price of living in Boston I plan on moving back to the area.

Does Columbia offer a degree in Socialism or Communism yet?

Harvard is very much overrated. They even matriculated Obama.

Google Forbes. I believe that the selection was made based on the accomplishments of graduates for the last umpteen years & votes of every Dean in America. Good guessing!

just turned 32 :( I live in Maine. I grew up in Mass for my first 8 years and then came back up to Maine and living in the Portland area. Go Red Claws.

I've been watching the C's and all of our teams (Pats/Sox/some Bruins) since I can remember. i used to love watching the real big 3 play and used to cry when we lost. I was a Bird fanatic and used to spend hours shooting hoops pretending I was him. My brother and I used to mock all the C's different foul shooting styles. loved Joe Kleine's freethrow shot. lol I loved McHale, Parish, DJ, John Bagley, Stojko, Pinkney, Gamble, Lews....i could go on forever. i lived thru the days of Brett Szabo and Thomas Hamilton....A lot of folks think i'm obcessed and well, i kinda am. Fav player is Bird and always will be.
i have gotten my 12 year old daughter into the C's and all other NE teams. It's fun to corrupt her and buy her jerseys and such.

I've been on this board for a while but mostly lurk. I'm quite opnionated and direct so i'd rather not piss anyone off :) I'm a jokester as well and sarcasm isn't always interpreted well on here.

LOL. Columbia has its characters, but less so in the professional schools where it is a feeder for wall street and top law firms. I'm trying not to get political, but let's just say I resent the rhetoric aimed at "the 1%." I think envy and entitlement are my two biggest pet peeves besides Sheed.
