yup. and we could very well get to keep jeff green too.

i'd love to hear about what and how was disclosed by whom and when, but i suspect that info is going to be pretty closely guarded. especially since this is sort of a precedent-setting case -- has it ever happened that another team has been awarded draft picks owing to a failure to disclose a medical condition?

Our doctors presented a dam good case to the LEAUGE, so I'm convinced there was enough negligence to get a charlotte 2nd rounder.

Also, I bet we would have gotten a first rounder if there was anything of malicious intent from OKC.

 Where's that poster, fallacy, at now? You know, the one that had a sig with a picture of Presti on it, with the caption of "U mad?" scribbled on it? I remember that guy would take every opportunity to post on this board about how awful Jeff Green was, and what a genius Presti was for securing their center of the future. This trade gets worse for OKC by the minute.

Imo, this pick will be anywhere from 30 to 34, nice pick..
Good assessment:

Are we sure about this?

It's from the Byron Mullens trade, and apparently it was top 55 protected when that deal went down.

Yeah, I'm sure---That pick was unprotected, it was the Charlotte 2016 2nd round pick to San Antonio that was Top 55 protected.

Here's the link:

Charlotte trades a 2016 second round pick (top 55 protected) to San Antonio as part of the Theo Ratliff trade.
• Charlotte trades Oklahoma City a 2013 second round pick (unprotected) as part of Byron Mullens trade. This pick was awarded to Boston as compensation in the Jeff Green medical dispute.

You rock! That was boggling my mind, man. I wanted to know so bad.

Awesome deal. 31-36 I assume. Maybe the Twolves will stink too and we get their high pick.

Any initial thoughts on next year draft? I remember people were talking about this draft 2-3 years ago.. I know that kid Shabazz from UCLA will be good but he is top 5 pick.. Will it be as deep as this draft?

Gives DA another chip to use on draft day if he's trying to move up.. with only limited guys under contract we can use all the assets we can get, even if they are second rounders

This makes no sense. The NBA says that the Oklahoma cardiologists knew, but didn't tell the Thunder. The Thunder are still being penalized.

Yeah it's a weird situation--- they're probably penalizing OKC for not being completely up to date with player health for the NBA's own security since this was a potentially fatal discovery.

What's weird is why would the cardiologists cover this up? We don't have enough details because based on what's been released, it's not adding up.

OKC cardiologists knew? Then the Thunder are liable, they hired the cardiologists. Did Jeff Green know?

If this is the case, Celtics deserve a first round pick. OKC is lucky they had this second rounder available.

If that's true that's absurd.

What should happen is we get Harden like Ainge had wanted, Jeff Green becomes a free agent and then we sign Green making the thunder double screwed for this idiotic mishap

IMO, it probably went down like this:

- Jeff Green might have a heart problem. OKC cardiologists find it, and tell the Thunder about it.
- perhaps OKC's cardiologists tell the Thunder that they don't think it's that big of a deal.
- OKC trades Green to Boston, failing to disclose the heart problem, since their cardiologists said it wasn't that big of a deal.
- Green's heart defect causes him to miss a season.
- Ainge files a complaint
- the Thunder freak out, and call their cardiologist, getting him to take the blame
- cardiologist explains to the league office that it was his fault, and that the Thunder shouldn't be penalized.

If the cardiologist really did withhold information from the Thunder, then why hasn't he been fired yet? Why hasn't he been sued by the Thunder? He did cost them a draft pick right?

IMHO, the Thunder are partially guilty.

I guess this means we will have the 30th and 31st picks in next year's draft...

That makes it 5(?) 2nd round picks in '13 now.

EDIT: My bad. It's just the 3rd. The other 2 are in '14 and '15 respectively.

Most likely Cetlic's don't get one of those. I believe one is from the Kings and top 55 protected.

I'm hearing stuff like "their cardiologists" or "OKC's cardiologists" but the cardiologists were reported as being independent of the team, which is why Stern said there was no bad faith (in which case the repercussions would have been way more severe).

This is probably more a case of "Keep up with news of your players' health while they're in your city even if the doctors are not directly connected with the team" as a warning.
