Can play every position except on the 5 they say. I like his skills tho, he is very athletic and quick for his size, if only he had a good jumpshot but he can work on that.
He looks a more athletic and quicker version of KD without the jumpshot.

Afterwards, Ainge was quoted by Greek media as saying Adetokundo reminded him of a young Scottie Pippen

I think Celtics' pick at 16 is worth for the risk. It's not like we are going to waste a lottery pick.
Currently he is ranked at 18 in nbadraft mock draft.

All the hype he is getting I bet he is not around when we pick. You almost pick him on the measurements alone.

I feel like most major NCAA programs already have a guy like this on their roster. He only stands out because he is a black kid in Europe IMO. A skinny, raw Durant without the jump shot means what, exactly?

Re: Meet potential Celtics first round pick Giannis Adetokun
He is still very young tho.. but i would prefer Withey, that guy is really NBA ready. But there is a chance that we he wont be around when we have to pick. And im a bit sceptic about Dieng his rebounding is decent but not that good as Withey.
So a choice between a young talent like Adetokun or Dieng isn't easy for Ainge when Withey is already selected. Maybe Adetokun has a much higher ceiling than Dieng, we dont know that.

for the 15-17 range in this draft, hes probably the best we can hope for.
I still think Alex Len or that big dude from Gonzaga could potentially slip to us though

Looks like they have been scouting him extensively and supposedly told him their intent to draft him in 2013 draft. Glad to know Ainge hasn't forgotten that there is basketball outside the US. The other benefit of drafting him is that it will force Tommy Heinsohn into retirement.

Hardest thing to me when it comes to missing out on giannis was picking Kelly o.....his ceiling at best was a serviceable role player in the nba IMO. He was never gonna be a star.

Rare whiff from me on that one. No need to call me racist, though. Really not a lot of black European players, and plenty of guys in a similar mold have flamed out.

A rare whiff? Don't test our ability to bump old threads.

I've tended to fare pretty well, especially on the major ones.
Back to Giannis, some good takes here. Mine obviously wasn't one of them, lol. But think about how crazy his rise was. Played for one year in Greece's third division, before elevating them to the second division in his second year. They were then immediately relegated back to the 3rd best league a year after he left.
This would sorta be like a walk-on Division 2 NCAA player from Bumblast State Junior College becoming an MVP someday.

Yeah all those division 2 players that look like Giannis. Just take the L and move on.

I did take the L. Had a lot of company on it, too. Again, 2nd/3rd division in freaking Greece.
That’s pretty amazing. The year before he was drafted, he played a division below a league where Stephane Lasme won the MVP. Remember that kid? Not even the best player on UMass teams that didn’t even make the tournament, drafted in the mid 2nd round and kicked around the league on some 10-day contracts?

But come on now, he was a 17, maybe 18 year old kid with language barriers who had supposedly just started playing bball a few years before. He was the same age (when drafted) as Hakeem was before Hakeem entered college. Granted Hakeem had just started playing at the age of 17, he wasn't even highly recruited by colleges a year later.
Not that I knew what to make of Giannis or saw what was coming, but he sounded intriguing (not just the physical attributes, but nbadraft.net said "He has a natural feel for the game and a good basketball IQ, with good passing skills and instincts and the potential to become a point forward at the next level"). He generated a lot of buzz, as a skinny foreign kid who may as well have been straight out of high school, in a climate where teams were generally scared of foreign prospects going bust.
