The word right after the draft was that Iverson was going to play a year in Europe.

I think Iverson's agent clarified, saying that Colton would consider Europe IF he didn't make the current roster. I could be wrong though.

You might be right. I didn't really pay much attention to the info on Iverson -- I was dizzy trying to figure out how many dozens of players were on the Celtics roster after Draft Night's haul.

I actually wouldn't be surprised if there is very little movement before the season starts beyond completing the nets deal. The types of assets the team would be looking for (decent young players, draft picks, expiring contracts) from moving the mid-tier vets is only going to be available if another team gets a bit desperate. They also really can't take on any additional salary in a deal, so that limits the options a lot.

If it happens before the season, great, but I think it's more likely mid-season with a team willimg to pay to replace an injured expiring guy.

I think M. Brooks gets moved to clear some of the log jam because he is very cheap, and the releasable guys get released. Tons of guys could get moved, of course, I just feel less will happen early on.

I actually wouldn't be surprised if there are many more deals... before the end of the week. But then again, maybe not. This is DA we are talking about, so who knows...

well the fun part is there actually HAS to be another deal doesnt there?

We already have too many guys under contract.. without even taking into account that many of the positions/roles overlap

something is coming.. major or minor, who knows.. but the silence over the last few days, no interest in FA's, no trade talk lends me to believe something is in the works for one or more of the incoming Nets' players

Nothing wrong with predicting even though we have no idea what will happen.

Watch this team surprise all and make a good run and see Ainge trade some of his assets and expirings for a guy like Deng to go on a run. Obviously Deng is going nowhere if the bulls are in it, but you catch my drift. Basically Ainge makes a deal like he did at that 04-05 deadline to get Antoine Walker back and help this team go for a surprising playoff run. That was led by a gang of misfit veterans, one star and some unexpected rookie play. This team is built the same way if you consider rondo a star. Maybe the nets will fail and we get pierce back

I don't see the Point in having Bogans on the team, can you waive him after the sign and trade ?

Obviousely he Counts against the cap, but only the 1st year is guaranteed, I don't want him to be taking up a roster spot.

I also don't see any teams taking him on without giving back a bad contract or us not giving up at least cash and/or a 2nd rounder.

So better waive him.

I'm thinking that Joseph will stick...

IMO Ainge probably drafted him in the first place as insurance at the small forward position behind Pierce in case Green was unable to play last year. The fact that he was sent away was probably because there just was no roster spot left open for him.

I'd bet that Ainge still likes him allot. Thats why he wanted Joseph back as part of that deal.

As it stands, Joseph likely will become Green's backup now that Pierce is gone.

Thinking Bogans (who is an awful NBA player) and Joseph.

Truth is I am not sure if that is enough. I lost track of the amount of players on this roster.

A trade doesnt need to happen?

Iverson, Pressey etc havnt been signed at all. White, Randolph and Joseph can be cut.

Rondo (1)
Bradley - Lee - Crawford (3)
Green - Brooks - Wallace - Bogans (4)
Sullinger - Olynyk - Bass - Humphries (4)
Melo (1)

Thats actually only 13 roster spots taken.

Best parts about Bogans:

1. He's a badass, and looks like a guy that should play a villain in a movie.
2. He's got a fat non-guaranteed deal for next year, which might help facilitate a trade next offseason.

Otherwise, not very good at helping win games, or this rather dreary offense.

i expect that Joseph and White are DOA

idk about randolph, will be dependent on us clearing roster/cap room

likely a trade or two, maybe can package an expiring with a longer contract (lee, wallace) for a 2 year deal just to even out the roster

i'm sure Danny will surprise us

Sorry. Didn't mean to come off like that. I agree it's always fun to project. It's just every time I try Ainge goes out and shakes things up.

The high point of his career was when he was traded for Brandon Hunter...in 2003.

mwhis21 wrote:IMO...I think that Humphries will be worth more come the trade deadline. Am I the only one who thinks this? If he gets 30 minutes per game he's probably going to grab about 8-10 rebounds per game. He's one year removed from a 14-11 season.

Come the deadline some playoff bound team might just be willing to part with something valuable to add a rebounding big like Hump.

Am I missing something because this guy is getting crapped on here. What do people expect to move him for right now?

If Humphries stays on the Celtics till the season there is no chance in hell he gets 30 minutes a game. He's got 4 guys in front of him. His value is an expiring contract, that's about it.
