I don't care about the general board, tbh.
Good assessment:

There already is. Just read the thread about Hayward that is trending on the GB.

Funny thing is, most posters don't believe the Celtics have a chance of getting him because "why would he go to a worst team?" :noway:

It actually makes a difference, but only if he's eligible for a new designated player rule.

“To get this type of premium deal you have to have played eight or nine years in the league and been on the All-NBA team this year or in two of the past three years, win the Defensive Player of the Year or have won the MVP in one of the past three years. You also have to re-sign with the team you played for since your rookie contract, although players traded during their rookie contracts still qualify. That’s not a lot of players.”

Basically, he would have to bet on himself to make an All NBA Team next season.

Or lose 15 million bucks.

Crystal ball

Craptorsfan123: DeRozen is still better, Celtics fifth seed at best.

Lolz: I like the Magic with Payton and their young players better tbh.

Not sure, pal. He likes it there in Salt Lake City and the Jazz is just starting to get better again, just won 51 games, went to the Semis, bet the Clippers, IDK man. Of course I want him to come here and play with us over Jae, but it is what it is

You realize that him opting out has nothing to do with whether he wants to return to Utah or not, right? It's simply a contract issue. he is eligible for a max contract extension if he opts out. Why would he opt in for one more year?

I agree, he and his wife may love life in Utah as well as the team's prospects, that doesn't mean he's still not going to opt out of a one year deal to sign a max contract extension with them.

It's all contractual minutaue that hopefully you have read the knowledgeable posters in this thread and now undestand my point.
Peace.

Of course he opts out, that isn't in doubt.

But my guess is that he resigns in Utah for a max contract with an extra year. I hope I'm wrong.

Most people already hate the Celtics and want to see them fail so that's nothing new there. But it is kind of ironic considering that in most "how can the Celtics improve?" topics on the GB, most people seem to think Hayward won't be a difference maker for this team or get them into the finals. So it's kind of silly if people got that mad about it after most people think that he can't push them to the next level.

Hopefully we are in the running some way or another...come meet with Tom Brady, David Ortiz, IT...and Kelly Olynyk in the Hamptons.

And if Hayward signs in Utah, be prepared to see some seriously vile hatred on the Celtics board. There is a certain segment of the Celtics fan base that feels entitled, for whatever reason.

Personally, I don't see him leaving, which is part of the reason I wanted to trade for Butler at the deadline. But hopefully I am wrong.

Maybe not. But I do distinctly remember one poster going on an "Al Whore-Fraud" rant when it even looked like he was going to re-sign with Atlanta last season. Tough to imagine him and a handful of his ilk staying quiet if Hayward stays in Utah.

I look at like this: the more hatred from the general board, the better we're doing 8-)

You guys who post on the general board should try your hardest to up your heel game over there. Step up the smug, notch up the condescention. Talk about our future like we've got 40 rings coming down the pike every chance you get and trash every team for the pettiest reasons possible. Oh, and use lots of these  . It's not like you'll be dragging the quality of the conversations down.

Hayward becomes the new king in new england the minute he signs. Thats a lot better than prince in utah.
