Re: General Boston Sports Thread
Kinsler has a .860 OPS since the end of May, and is one of the best defensive 2nd baseman in baseball. Removes Swihart from a utility role so I'm guessing we will see him catching much more often.
I'd like another reliever but i really like the Kimbrel/Barnes/Thornburg trio, and i trust Workman as well once he is back up. Plus come playoff time they'll have Eovaldi in the bullpen.

Talk of the long-rumored possibility that the New England Revolution could build a stadium within Boston’s city limits got kicked up a notch late Monday in a video clip making the rounds of social media.
Miami businessman Jorge Mas, who co-owns a Major League Soccer franchise with a group that includes soccer superstar David Beckham, spoke with the Miami Herald’s editorial board regarding the group’s proposal to redevelop a city park. That proposal would include developing a 25,000-seat soccer stadium near the Miami International Airport
In the conversation with the Miami Herald, Mas suggested that the Kraft Group's New England Revolution are planning a soccer stadium in Boston, according to a video clip posted to Twitter late Monday evening.
“One of the only franchises left to build a soccer-specific stadium is the New England Revolution, which is owned by Bob Kraft of the New England Patriots. They’re building a facility, I think, right near or next to, Boston Garden,” Mas, the chairman of Coral Gables, Florida-based infrastructure construction giant MasTec Inc. (NYSE: MTZ), said in the meeting.
Land is scarce near TD Garden, a sports and concert arena adjacent to Boston’s North Station, formerly known as the Boston Garden, that’s home to the Boston Bruins and Boston Celtics. And city leadership is denying that there’s any formal proposal to develop a soccer stadium within Boston city limits.
“Mayor Walsh has always said that he’s interested in building a soccer stadium in Boston, however there is currently no proposal before the city,” said Samantha Ormsby, press secretary for Boston Mayor Martin J. Walsh.
When asked the last time Walsh met with the Kraft Group regarding a stadium within city limits, he said, "We haven't talked in awhile," Ormsby told the Business Journal in an email.
However, one area that has been long rumored to be a serious contender to host a soccer stadium is Widett Circle, an 18.5-acre industrial tract just south of Boston’s downtown, that was listed for sale last year.
An 18.5-acre industrial tract at Boston's Widett Circle, an industrial site located just outside of downtown, could host up to 6 million square feet of mixed-use development. The site had once been considered a potential home for an Olympic stadium.
Jonathan Kraft, president of the Kraft Group, and Kraft Group CEO Robert Kraft signaled their commitment to a downtown Boston stadium while speaking at a SportsBusiness Journal late last year.
“We’re as optimistic as we’ve ever been that in 2018 we will have a piece of land that is in downtown Boston and we will be able to build a home for the Revolution on it,” Jonathan Kraft said at the SportsBusiness event in November.
Boston is among 32 cities that global soccer governing group FIFA has tapped as one of several potential host cities for the 2026 World Cup, which was granted to a joint North American bid of the United States, Mexico and Canada.
New England Revolution representatives did not immediately respond to a request seeking comment.

How about moving the Revs to Foxborough permanently and building an NFL stadium for the Patriots in Boston? And one with a retractable roof so we could host a super bowl in february.

foxborough gave the patriots a sweet tax-break. plus they also gave them land, interest free bonds, and permitting permission to build whatever they want. essentially it was win/win, it kept the patriots from leaving and helped modernize their town with patriot place and surrounding businesses. my buddy/jose gonzalez played on the revs last year; he says ownership/krafts keep selling the idea of moving the revs, but behind doors they're waiting out a better deal on land/bonds in southie. im guessing after bob passes-away jonathan will build it and name it after his dad. patriots will forever remain in foxborough.

The Pats just signed Eric Decker to a one year deal. This should be a big help to their depleted group of receivers

Sox still chugging along! Now they own a 7.5 game lead on the Spanks! Another Homer for Pearce. The guy hit 4 homers in 5 at bats in two games.

Pearce is absurd. 4 HRs in two games, the new Yankee killer.

David Price could go a long way to winning Sox fans back by pitching a good 5 innings then beaning the first batter in the 6th.
Hey Man, nice shot!

On August 15th 2017 the Dodgers hit 50 games over .500 mark, they peaked at 55 games over .500 on August 25th 2017.
Red Sox are now 44 games over .500 with the next 10 games being:
vs Yankees
3 @ Blue Jays
4 @ Orioles
2 @ Phillies (last game on the 15th).
Need to go 8-2 to tie the Dodgers on the same date as last year.

Eovaldi might be the Sox second best pitcher after Sale already. Cora has options on starting pitching come post season. Especially if E-rod gets healthy in time

Re: General Boston Sports Thread
Apparently Goodell wanted Brady to admit to something that he didn't even know about! A new report says that Goodell wanted Brady to admit to the guilt of the two equipment managers for tampering with the footballs - even if Brady didn't know about it. Can Goodell possibly look any more foolish than he already does?
