Moot. He just got an extension and they won't fire him regardless of the outcome of this series.

Re: If not Brad, who?
That's always the pertinent question.
I think maybe it's fair to say that Brad might only be a good coach and not a great coach, but he certainly isn't a bad coach. Bad coaches don't make the playoffs every year after their first year without a superstar.
If you take every possible coaching candidate, most of them will be worse than Brad. Maybe there's someone out there who's better and available, but unless Danny is convinced that he's found that person, you don't fire Brad.
The only other reason you'd fire Brad is if it becomes apparent that the team is tuning him out and I have seen no evidence of that this season.

Everybody tolerates it when people start switching everything

Stevens, Nurse and Spo are probably the 3 best coaches in the league right now.

Wait... there is more than one person who thinks we should move on from Brad Stevens?
Wow. This might be one of the worst takes. Up there with the Paul Pierce sucks threads we used to have 10 years ago.

Re: If not Brad, who?
I don't want Brad fired, honestly. I just want him to change some of his negative traits, to name a few:
- his calm demeanor for one, I wish he'd show some emotion every now and then. I mean it wouldn't hurt wouldn't it?
- his stubbornness on his rotations, taking out the hot hand or keeping them on the bench just because "it's not time yet"
- his lack of leadership as Tatum pointed out. I think the players look to him for leadership, but it's not there.

Great thread.
He's coaching the team that is.

I would reach out to Popovich. Thing is, Brad already signed an extension, he ain't going nowhere.
Good assessment:

Going through your post game comments, wanting Brad Steven's head on a platter? Really?
Dude is a top 2 coach in this league...
The Boston v. Toronto series could arguably be the NBA finals due to the quality of the chess game both coaches are playing... The winner of this series will most likely have the best shot at the NBA title... and yet you are complaining about Brad Stevens?
Just curious, if you want him out, who would you replace him with? I'll wait..
PS: Thank you for this most entertaining series we have had... It's definitely not good for my health but hella entertaining..

That’s on the players. This is not a video game, Brad doesn’t control every action with a joystick.

Brad Stevens is a excellent coach. Stevens had nothing to do with the 3 turnovers by Tatum and Brown in the last 2 minutes in the 2nd OT. Celtics players are young. They are learning that you need to value the ball in the playoffs. Every time you have the ball it counts. Toronto knows this.
It's just growing pains. Stevens and the young Celtics are growing together.

I disagree that he had nothing to do with the turnovers. He handled the minutes of the players in this game differently than ever before. He would never have guys play the entire second half like he did tonight. Fatigue could have definitely contributed to those turnovers after playing them the whole second half and both overtimes.

Just careless turnovers.

No idea on what delusional trip you are but neither the Celtics or the Raptors have ANY chance beating the Clippers or Lakers in a best of 7 series, except for massive injury problems on their side.

Not sure about the C's (although we are built pretty similar) but Raps have swept the Lakers for the past god knows how many years... Including all the games with Lebron this year and last year. They don't match up well against us at all.
We match up well against the Clippers too. So there it is..
Our worst match up believe it or not are the Celtics.. because we both play tough D and that fluid game.

Agreed, he isn't and I don't want him to at all. Neither are Spo or Pop. I was just working with they hypothetical given in the thread.

Re: If not Brad, who?
I'm not Brad's biggest cheerleader as many of you know. He's a system coach that doesn't deviate from his system to put individual players in their best position to succeed. He's also not very fiery on the sideline. That said, is it his fault they went out and spent a ton on a 6' PG who can't defend, whose game is predicated on his quickness but has been injured and is approaching 30 y/o? Is it his fault Danny took Robert Williams over Mitchell Robinson? That Danny traded for a Kyrie rental, thus losing the #8 pick in the 2018 draft which could have been used on SGA or MPJ? Is it his fault Danny felt a roster crunch that wasn't there so he took two scrub draft and stashes instead of drafting Siakam, LeVert, Dejounte Murray or Brogdon? Is it his fault that Danny passed on Sekou, Bazley, Clarke, Claxton, Bol, Roby in last year's draft?
Brad is definitely part of the problem but Danny has failed him big time. Even with that, because of injuries and players leaving the conference making it the clear inferior conference still, we have a chance to go to the ECF despite all that Danny has done. Brad has to get some credit right?
