Well you have to assume the losses are going to start to pile up now. Like I said in another thread these are like injuries. Some teams are going to get lucky and have no exposure cases and other teams won't be lucky.

I guess the rest of the team doesn't have to quarantine because Tatum didn't test positive? I really don't understand the whole process.

Do protocols require that without a positive test?

Technically you are supposed to quarantine longer when you don’t have a positive yet but you have close contact due to delay in a positive test showing up.

From the NYTimes

Players are required to quarantine for at least seven days if they are exposed to someone who tests positive. If a player tests positive, he could be required to isolate for at least 10 days.

Durant, TT, Grant, Timelord were all said to be out for at least seven days.

Tatum tested positive. Bad news.

Well if that's the case my main concern is: please get well JT.

Might be time for the league to go on a 2 week lockdown honestly. Give it a rest for a minute with all these players dropping like flies.

I don't disagree but the season started 2 weeks ago. If they cannot get through two weeks without shutting down not much hope for the rest of the season. This is going to be an ongoing battle all year.

Aw man, that sucks. Hopefully Tatum stays well. If they go .500 in the duration that he's missing, that would be great.

As long as he doesn’t get sick it doesn’t matter. This season is a sham until pandemic curve is flattened and record only matters if you risk missing playoffs. Might as well enjoy the prospect of Nesmith getting minutes he hadn’t earned and getting to see guys like Carson Edwards get another chance to build some trade value.

The vaccines are being rolled out for phase 1 in MA.

Honestly, a sports league is probably only a month away from the relatively small number of vaccines needed for their players and staff.

But yeah the NBA cares more about money than the health of their players so it won't happen.

Hopefully Tatum doesn't suffer long term implications down the road in his 40s because of this. But it doesn't seem too much of an ask to just shut it down a month or so and restart it.

Cant say I'm surprised figured this would happen considering where this country currently is with COVID.

10 to 14 days leads me to believe he either tested positive today or he was directly exposed by someone close to him.

FWIW, it was reported (I believe by Adam Himmelsbach if I'm spelling his last name right) that Kemba could return on Friday vs the Magic.

Big if true.

So Javonte likely had it. RWIII def has it. Tatum likely has it. Grant and TT may have it.

Sounds like were in an outbreak. More positives will come.

I don't think Tatum tested positive. If he did test positive then the entire Celtics team and wizard teams would have to quarantine.

It seems like to me that Tatum was exposed but tested negative. If you're a contact of a contact you don't have to quarantine. As I type this the Celtics and wizards are a contact of a contact so that is why both teams don't have to quarantine.

Really? Players are getting exposed to COVID after the NBA went back to basically a "business as usual" model while COVID cases continue to rise to higher levels than last summer when they did the bubble? I am Jack's complete lack of shock.

Team has to have 8 players to play, we are down to 11 now...probably more will have to quarantene being in contact with Tatum.

RWIII and Seth Curry confirmed tested positive and their full teams/opponents did not quarantine

Well that means he'll miss at least...

10th vs MIA
12th @ CHI
13th vs ORL
15th vs ORL
17th vs NYK

The next game after that is the 20th @ PHI but that would be the 12th day so hopefully he's back for that. Kemba is rumored to be returning the 15th vs ORL, that's also the same day the quarantine ends for Williams, Williams, Thompson so really the c's need to survive 3-5 games and then hopefully the team is back and healthy.

Then the NBA is not following the suggested guidelines. My guess is that they are are just testing guys daily and if they are negative they are good to play.

We cannot get tested every day like the NBA players so we have to quarantine if we are exposed.

Suspend the Season. -- As I've said in other Threads.
They need to go back to the Bubble, until they get the Vaccine.

The 2nd half of the Season, may need to be delayed.
It's not Scheduled yet.

I'm sure that they were aware of this possibility.

Bummer.
Schedule is not too tough, hope JB can carry the team.
Something's up with the Wizards.

Had they listened to my suggestion of playing the 1st month or two in the bubble, none of this would have happened.

I'm confused about their so-called protocols. How one player is quarantined while the rest of the team (or their opponent) aren't. They literally just breathed on each other while playing basketball.
