Unless TT or Rob Williams gets hurt, Theis is no loss at all. Fournier will really help the bench, but is likely a rental given Ainge's recent track record with free agents.
At least Fournier gives them another scorer when Kemba is out for a back-to-back.

Hard to believe Orlando wanted anything to do with Gary Harris, but I never expected a Gordon deal.

When you have Kemba’s black hole contract there’s not much you can do. If only Kemba can play better maybe he might have teams interested in him

Happy with:
Adding a legit rotation guy in Fournier.
Moving Theis, Teague, and Green to force Brad's hand on playing more Timelord, Pritchard, and maybe Nesmith/Langford.

Disappointed with:
Semi still being here and there's still available minutes for him.

At this point, I've just accepted that this team is ****. Their window is closed. And it sounds so weird saying that when the two best players are as young as they are, but I'm just not seeing the path for legitimate contention.

Going forward, the Celtics have all the makings of a treadmill team. Little to no cap flexibility, aren't bad enough to get high draft picks but aren't good enough to be legit title contenders, they lack high-level prospects. Yes I know the team is still generally young, but unless you think Tatum & Brown are gonna take another big jump to being All-NBA 1st team caliber or Romeo Langford is some type of hidden superstar, how bright is the future really?

Essentially I think think we'll basically be like the Blazers with Dame & CJ. Good every year but never an actual threat to win the title.

Here are the players under contract for 21-22. Scroll down to 101, and find the player(s) who will fit the $ 11.05m TPE.

I'm undecided on Fournier until I see if he can make more of an impact than Romeo

Who has a gigantic, very useful trade exception and then destroys most of it with renting Evan?

Nearly half the teams were trying to make good trades.

Another half sat most of it out.

The Celtics did some weird stuff.

Now Celtics fans have to sit and wait, with nothing to watch, until the offseason when Kemba might get Horford or Love.

Love the Semi the person but really wish they could’ve sent him out in a trade so that Nesmith and Langford would be forced into getting more minutes. I fear Thompson and Semi are still gonna get a lot of minutes when in reality they should be developing the young guys this year and try to make moves this offseason to financial flexibility

I guess to try and look at the positives here..

Fournier is a great get. A lineup of Kemba/Jaylen/Evan/Tatum/Rob ain't bad at all. Not gonna win much but at least we've added some much needed scoring, and it keeps Semi from starting or any double big lineups.

Romeo will be back at some point. Will get to, hopefully, see a lot more of Pritchard, and Nesmith. Maybe Wagner could play better under Brad? Still young, big bodied, can hit shots. Maybe some better coaching will unlock his potential.

Ultimately, I'm going to try and enjoy watching the kids develop this year and see what the off season holds

Assuming this is a joke?

He instantly adds another scoring option which IMO was the biggest issue this year. Kemba, Brown, Tatum were the only 3 threats that defenses have to focus on to stop

And the Blazers have been really good at adding talent - Hood (now Powell), Covington, Nurkic..

Read on Twitter

I can't believe Miami, LA, and the Nets have gotten better at this CBA/cap minutiae than Mike Zarren.

We didn't need to get rid of Theis to get under the tax.

If they didn’t need to get rid of Theis why did they then?

Blazers have been able to add good players, but their status as a team remains the same - They're good enough to make the playoffs, but not good enough to win a title. I feel like going forward the Celtics are gonna be stuck in that same limbo.

This is actually a fantastic series of moves, and Zarren should be applauded. These moves, while also being a symbol of admitting mistakes, is a huge step in the right direction to rectifying them.

Avoiding repeater tax, and recouping some productivity AND the ability to sign another player with bird rights totally is a huge deal for a depleted team like ours.

I fully expect Danny to resign Fournier long term.

Thank you Zarren for this personnel

Daniel Theis trade: Boston Celtics send big man, Javonte Green to Chicago for Moritz Wagner, Luke Kornet (report)
By Souichi Terada | sterada@masslive.com | Thurs. 03-25-21

https://www.masslive.com/celtics/2021/03/daniel-theis-trade-boston-celtics-send-big-man-to-chicago-for-moritz-wagner-report.html
The Celtics added three players (Fournier, Wagner and Kornet) while sending out three bodies (Theis, Green and Teague), meaning they’re at the maximum on the 15-man roster. However, Wagner ($2.2 million) and Kornet ($2.3 million) could be waived to create a roster spot. That means Boston could be players in the buyout market, whether that’s a guy like LaMarcus Aldridge or Andre Drummond....

Arguably the biggest benefactor Thursday could be Robert Williams III. With Tristan Thompson out for health and safety protocol and Theis out of the picture, Williams is slated to be the starting center at least for a few games. The Celtics had been cautious of Williams’ playing time because of his injury history. But after Williams’ elevated play in recent weeks, he’ll have a shot to earn some more minutes.

The 6-foot-11 Wagner and 7-foot-2 Luke Kornet are expected to be backup bigs if they stick with the roster. Wagner has played in 25 games for Washington this season, averaging 7.1 points and 2.9 rebounds per game. Kornet averages 2.0 points and 1.2 rebounds per game and has seen action in 13 games this season.
