At the very least, if you havent given up on the season, the crowded standings make for some good scoreboard watching.

Was watching Miami best the Lakers last night. Now tonight Celtics have an easy must win game. Atlanta plays the post-deadline bulls and the hornets play the bucks. Should be a handful of relevant games every night the rest of the way.

A fully-healthy Heat had a hard time finishing off the Lakers who were missing AD, Lebron, THT, and Kuzma. Even Drummond was hobbled with an injured toe.

I might be fine with the Cs ending up as the 6th seed with a first round matchup vs. the Bucks.

Not an impressive win at all but still counts and for Miami its one that looked like an L on the schedule before the injuries were known.

Id rather host a series and avoid the good teams in the first round obviously (4th), but home court advantage doesnt mean much so 5th is okay. If we have to face one of the good teams in the first round, I prefer Bucks, Sixers, nets in that order, which is reverse order of the standings. So for once... I am not rooting for any side scenarios where I prefer a worse seed based on matchups.

Just win as many games as possible and let the chips fall where they may.

I'd rather face the Bucks than Sixers/Nets. But I'd also much rather be in the 4/5 match up than face the Bucks. We have beaten Milwaukee 2 out of 3, but in a 7 game series they still scare me with all of those shooters, lots of weapons, 2 good big men (Giannis, Lopez), solid defense, they're fairly deep. I mean, they're just a solid all around team with no real weaknesses. Only weaknesses really is 1) lack of a true PG, Holiday is really more of a 2 than a 1 so they lack a true floor general to run the offense, direct traffic which especially hurts come crunch time. The closes thing they have to a true PG is Jeff Teague, LOL 2) Giannis not a very good FT shooter so if it's close late you can try sending him to the line. Most teams, their star player is much better at the line than Giannis is, which is probably part of the reason they haven't gone as far in the playoffs with him as their go to guy

I really don't see us having a chance against the Sixers or Nets though..

Agreed, that's my order of preference too.

Definitely want that 4 seed to get home court, but 5th is ok too.

12-8 over the next 20.

Final record 38-34.

That would be great.

And we finish where?
Do we get to the 4 or 5 seed?

ya 38-34/ 39-33 is about right
and should be enough for the 4 or 5 seed

We need ALL of those things to happen in order to simply go 1 game over .500 the rest of the way? Jeez, I don't know. I figure if literally every one of those things happen we're gonna go 14-6, maybe even 15-5.

I suppose you're tempering your expectations, or pessimistic about the team like most fans seem to be..

If all of that happens, we will go 15-5, and we will have a chance to advance to the ECF.
If none of that happens, we will finish at 0.500 & the 6 or 7 seed.
Most likely, some of that will happen, and we will go 12-13/7-8 & have to fight like hell for the 4 or 5 seed.

We have gone 3-0 since I wrote this.

The only way that changes significantly is if:
1) Tatum starts playing like an ascending Super Star once again consistently; MEGA CHECK!
2) Fournier comes back next week not impaired by the Covid; pending
3) Timelord/Kardashian blend their skills into a competent front line; Kind of
4) JB continues to mostly excel & limits his TOs/plays tough D; small CHECK
5) Our glue piece Cobra focuses on D, careful playmaking & occasional shot making; MEGA CHECK!
6) Kemba stops shooting as much. No - but he is playing a little better

I think we can all agree the best outcome is finishing 4th/5th and playing ATL in first round, than Philly in 2nd. That way again we can make it to ECF.

Schedule wise, there are 9 home games and 8 away (only BRK being better team in all 8 away games). I think 12-5 or better is more than possible.

Tatum had the right approach when they interviewed him after last night's win in Portland. The seeding is less important than playing well going into the playoffs.

Must be nice to play the Nets without Harden and 4 mins of KD after he has 8 pts on 100% shooting lol.

Damn needed Miami to lose today to be 3 games back. They have a pretty easy remaining schedule

I think that we'll end up with the 4th Seed.
And thus, play either the Hawks or Knicks (at 5th seed).

Then the Sixers (1st seed), Nets and (likely) Lakers.

Nets (2 seed) and Bucks (3 seed) will eliminate each other.
Leaving us only one to play.

Same thing with the Western Conference.
We only have to play one team, should we make out of the East.

It's not as easy as it sounds.
But we only have to play 4 teams, in the Playoffs.

And win 16 games.

Nothing is given."

This week they play the Suns, Sixers, Sixers at home and Hawks on the road. They also have a couple of games vs BK so I could definitely see some losses there but we would need to win out or lose 1-3 more games just to get close
