I think there may be a team out there willing to take a chance on him and not require us to take back an equally bad contract.

We're going to have to pay to get rid of him one way or another as his value/perceived value is a lot lower than he is payed. It'll probably be a combination of us taking back a smaller bad contract and sending out picks and or assets if we can find anyone to dump his contract on. I don't think they'd bother to move him for an equally bad contract as the whole point is skirting the lux tax and a year removed from surgery Kemba could bounce back some and perhaps become a non-negative asset closer to the end of his contract.

One of the qualities I would look for in a new head coach is someone with the clout and inclination to do exactly this if needed.

If they can salvage a pick and make some magic happen with money then whatever.

But this guy isn't tradeabale imo until next year.

In other words, Brian Robb says that other unnamed (made-up?) sources are speculating, then NBC Sports comes up with the title "Report: Celtics to seek Kemba Walker trade." Sports journalism at its worse.

Everybody knows it would make absolute financial sense to trade Kemba, but that doesn't mean the Celtics will actively try to do it.

those sources (G.M.s, front office personnel, agents) could be telling him that they were told Kemba would be made available after the season. You're the one who is claiming they're speculating. You have no idea, it could very well be valid.

Number one priority is getting out of kemba's contract. Of course so is a coach so those two main then 16th pick. Then trimming the fat of the edwards,g.wiil, waters, semi, and yes taco if we ain't going to play him move on. I like jabari parker pick up do more of that.

"they were told Kemba would be made available after the season"" LOL! Even if the GMs "were told" (your words), were they told by whom? "Reliable sources"? Be serious. Without sources within the Celtics, it's ALL SPECULATION.

i doubt it's a surprise to anyone around the league that Kemba is available. anyone can see the dynamic here.

if kemba is really going to be healthy and a full time player next year, maybe it's worth sucking it up and keeping him around, he might actually have a fair bit of value by the trade deadline. sure it could go the other way too, but it may be a risk worth taking unless we can get something of value back.

I really can't handle another year of Kemba's defense.

Who's the one that says to rest kemba 2 games a week? Screw that, then he shouldn't be making full salary.

Look, I'm a Yankees fan. Stanton was given a 325m contract by an NL team, with the expectation that he's Gunna play the field during that time. So now that he's in the AL, I'm not Gunna suddenly pussfoot around him and keep him as a DH and give him off 2 games a week for this preservation. Play the field if needed, because that's what you signed up for. If you get injured, there's insurance. If you're injured, you go on the injured list.

Im not wishing injury on a player, but screw that noise where you play half the games because the coach likes to massage your upper thigh and collect 900k a game.

I think we try and use Kemba as the salary ballast to get Beal , Barnes etc. I don’t see Brad having any issue moving Rob Williams as I don’t trust him to stay healthy.

Kemba, Rob plus other assets for best player we can get. We need to make some win now moves.

Does Kemba/Rob/Romeo or Nesmith/Pritchard plus a pick or two get the job done for Beal? I would also be interested in a scaled back deal like this for Barnes too.

Smart/Beal/Brown/Tatum/Thompson is solid. Resign Fournier, Use MLE for vet PG or Center.

I'm not trading rob unless we get a legit star out of it... And even then I'd try my best not to.. But kemba needs to go somehow. He seems like a nice guy with a great smile.... That is where my compliments of him end.

This would be pretty hard to do. Even just one injury, real or not, would make teams think twice. We need to take an almost equally bad contract for this to happen. Wished he was expiring already. If Brad can do it, then he’s off to a good start.

I like your thinking. Trade Kemba, RWilliams, Romeo, and a pick or three for Beal. Those three are our most injury prone players. Maybe DC wants to unload one of there own players too to make it work. They have alot of players on their roster that I like.

How many seasons does Chris Paul, Westbrook or John Wall have on their deals. Paul would be fantastic to pair with Brown and Tatum or even Beal. We'd match up with anyone.

Just to be a little realistic, if we can't move him off the team, then move him to the bench as the 7th man and just pay the luxury tax/repeater tax as a consequence of our past screw-ups to revitalize the roster. It is what it is. Management is gonna have to unload lots of moolah to turn this around.
