Wish we still had at least 8 Preseason Games.
Love to see the fringe players.

I wonder who'll even end up suiting up for this one. Nets Lakers today had most of the starters out

F, tonight is our anniversary and have dinner plans. I'd ask to reschedule, but then it would be my last.

It's only a Preseason.
Happy Anniversary, though!!!

I don't care who plays and for how long. Just excited to see a live NBA Celtics game again.

Unless major rotation guys sit, it will be mildly amusing to see who is starting as that'd most likely be what Ime has in mind for the season. Also who's where in the whole depth chart races like grant, juancho, romeo, nesmith.

I just want to get an idea of what our 2nd and 3rd string talents look like. I don't expect any major revelations on line-ups etc.. but for players battling for the backup 4 man spot especially, it should get interesting.

questions I have:

Is J Parker in great shape??

Same for Grant Williams.

How does Juancho look?

Will Hauser even get a chance?

who amongst our 3 non guaranteed wings looks good? shoots good?

My guess is Horford & Brown in street clothes, and Tatum/Smart play very little.

I would actually prefer that. tough decisions need to e made with the rest of the roster and very little time to get a good feel on players.

Ime said everyone is good to go yesterday, except Juhaunn (I don't know his name sorry), so I think everyone will get a couple minutes just to try different groupings. He said we won't know the starting lineup until the last preseason game, he's going to mix it up the first 3, he said don't take any lineups seriously the first 3 because it won't mean anything except to see who works well together.

And I feel we know what can't will can't do and if langford can not be Mr. glass ? is getting old. That's 12 and then the new add ons will be who I want to replace can't and glass. I'll say I'm rooting for Matthews though I also feel right now we wasted the two way with Hauser so I hope he actually balls out. Also rooting for Parker to remain on the team. So ya let's go

I still don't understand why apparently the consensus is that Nesmith is comfortably ahead of Langford on the depth chart.

Langford is a better defender, better at creating off the dribble, better play maker for others. Rebounding they're about even. I'd say Langford is a little better in terms of finishing at at the rim and through contact.

Defensively Langford was a top 3 defender on our team last year. Nesmith was an average defender - he showed flashes of being really good defensively but there was also quite a few times where he'd be out of place or make silly fouls. First half of the year Nesmith looked like a deer in head lights, not knowing where he was supposed to be, on either side of the ball.

Only thing Nesmith does better is shoot 3's which obviously is very important, but langford has closed the gap significantly with improved shooting towards end of last year's reg season, in playoffs and in summer league. I believe that between last few games of reg season, playoffs and summer league he shot like 38 or 39% from 3, which is comfortably over the NBA league average of 36.7%. Nesmith had some hot shooting in summer league but he was also pretty inconsistent, with some games (and stretches of games) where he went ice cold.

Everyone says Langford is made of glass, but a decent chunk of the games he missed were with COVID, he also missed a good chunk of time with wrist surgery (so did Jaylen Brown, is he made of glass?). Not to mention, Nesmith missed 1/2 the season his sophomore year of college to injury - Langford played in a higher % of his college games than Nesmith.

IMO they're entering camp about even on the depth chart, especially since we have a new coach who is approaching things with a clean slate.
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

I'm pissed because I pay for LP and Magic games are blacked in my area... that was fine until last season because the games were on local channels. Well, my cable provider said, “meh you don't need the local channels anymore, we couldn't work out a new deal with FOXSPORTS.” So, now I have to find a stream every time I want to watch us vs. Mage!! Ughhh!! I think the preseason games are the only ones that show on LP but I'm not really sure because as I said last season was the first time I had to deal with it. I hate having to find streams because they can be hit and miss and I never trust them on my computer. This should be illegal, just ripping folks off! That's 4 games I have to deal with this crap, I wouldn't have a problem if they weren't still forcing me to pay for those games with the package, the amount of $ doesn't matter, I just want what I pay for! Also, national games are blacked too, so I have to pay for channels like NBATV separately, I think TNT is a part of my cable sub or I'd have to pay for that too. Yep, I'm an idiot! :banghead: :banghead:

Well, JB might not be a good comp for what you're saying because he always has injuries too, he plays through them a lot tho, but he misses games. Romeo has really never been healthy, every season he misses multiple games with different injuries. I don't know if he's made of glass, but he missed SL games because of injuries again. Last season was COVID related somewhat, but didn't he miss games early last season because of the injury he suffered in the bubble the season prior? Forget whether he deserves to be a part of the rotation, Romeo has to stay healthy first.

Yeah, NBATV not in my package for Cable. I'm just going to have to spring the extra $20, and upgrade to the next higher package, which comes with like 75 other channels, that I don't care about. Comcast Sucks. I need the Internet for my Business, though.
So, they got me.

I'd put Nesmith and probably Pritchard ahead of Langford mainly due to this team's need for knockdown shooting, but you're right that Romeo is tangibly improving his shot and is not miles behind those two on the depth chart like some suggest. He'll need to continue to be a passable, moderate-volume 3-point shooter to carve out a consistent role.

Interested in lineups.

Thinking og

1. Smart
2. Brown
3. Tatum
4. parker
5. Horford

Then, they can swap out Parker for Langford/PP/Nesmith/Richardson etc.

It' great to have Brown and Tatum so versatile.
