Not here to nitpick. But wow, what a **** game boys. Boston and New York rivalry sparking up eh? One of the great season opener games ever. **** was historic

Going to be a war zone anytime we’re faced up.

Good luck the rest of the way!

Celtics fans should be ready for the other team scoring over 120 points. Going to be a ton of games like that.

I know tatum is a terrific scorer but we needed him to get to the line tonight and he didn’t do it. Instead he settled for 3 pointer after 3 pointer.. just very disappointing

Brown coming off from Covid played 46 minutes. That guy is a legit elite level shooter. Spot ups. Off the dribble. Off movement. In transition. From deep. And his handle is impressive. Assuming this COVID didn't throw a wrench in things he'll have a big year.

Robert William, who has played 30minutes like literally once in his career before tonight played 45 and had a huge impact. Although he does look a little less explosive. Front rimmed soem dunks.

Tatum didn't have a great shooting preseason, and it carried over tonight. It was just that he missed, it was he missed BADLY. But on the long list of things I worry about Tatum's shooting isnt very high.

Ime obviously has no faith in Kanter, which i'm fine with. But with Al out the c's played very small. I'd really like them to find a legit four sized guy this year.

Encouraging play frmn langford and Grant (tho randle roasted him, but thats tbe).

Sucks to think he's so important but he is. They sorely lacked a skilled big and it showed. They def dont have any his size that can pass and stretch the floor.

Brown's defense took a hit last season as his offense improved and it looks like the trend continues. I think this will be the last time you see defensive indifference towards Jaylen from other teams. He can beat you. You can't defend him with Fournier and Rose. It's no coincidence that he got sloppy and much less effective in the 2nd half once RJ and Randle defended him at times. Ime is a disaster as predicted, playing vets over more talented young guys. This is going to be a long season with lots of games like this. It will be entertaining but we aren't winning a championship with this squad and coach and that's sad. It'd be more palatable if we got a chance to watch our young guys play more though, maybe that'll happen as the cream rises to the top. On to Game 2!

agree. Fit matters so much, not individual talent. Shooter, shooter , shooters.. > Vets who can't shoot.

One of those vets that couldn't shoot was Tatum tho!

The lack of composure was glaring. Hopefully it improves because it has carried over from last season.

what pissed me off about Tatum was that he settled way too much, just total soft azz mode.. he does that too much.

Great to have basketball back but what a frustrating loss. Feels like we always waste those game tying buzzer beaters at the end of regulation. switch-everything defense looked bad at times as did the transition defense for a long stretch. Ime's gonna have to iron that out.

Tatum couldn't make shots but tough to be worried about him.

Schroder was definitely pressing a bit trying to involve himself in the offense and had a rough ot as well.

Jaylen played a great game and tough not to at least get the win for him. Marcus shot well too.

Grant played well and looks improved but still played way too much. But props to Ime for also being willing to play some of the young wings over Josh Richardson. Richardson will have his time and I think the competition will be good for everyone.

I'm also about one game away from being ready to label Romeo a good shooter. Shot looks great more often than not.

Ready to get Horford back. Hopefully we can put the L behind us and string together some wins. This is the first year I've been watching that I think the East might be better than the West top to bottom. Would be nice to get ahead.

Jaylen, Rob, and Romeo look great.

Grant was okay, I was being a little hard on him but there’s always something annoying about his game in the first half like falling down pretending to be poked in the eye causing a turnover.

Nesmith looked bad and doesn’t look ready. Bad defense, missed open threes.

PP barely exists out there like he did in the Nets series. His height is obviously a problem. Liked his effort grabbing 2 offensive rebounds

Tatum arguably played the worst game of his career. Was really blown it happened to be against the Knicks in MSG while missing every open shot attempted.

Schroeder, not a fan at all. Broke jumper, lazy defender, bad passes in the 4th.

Smart was rock solid for 2 and a half quarter and then went full idiot mode chucking threes throwing terrible turnovers. I just hate he’s been doing this for years. Why can’t he just be composed if the other team goes on like a 7-0 run…

Ime, didn’t really like his defense. His offense seems to be fine, we got almost any shot we wanted. It took him 40 minutes to put Rob on Randle which I thought was stupid. He should have attempted that earlier and if you watched the playoffs, Capela bothered Randle big time so not sure what coach was thinking and that non challenge call was soft of him to not attempt.

It’s only 1 game but it’s disappointing to see the result at the end. The Celtics seemingly had control for a good amount but then would play sloppy getting the other team back before imploding. It’s the same old theme. Want this team to start in the right track with all these road games.

riiiight, cause no team has ever improved their defense / made any adjustments after game 1 of the season

this is a classic "1st game of the season overreaction"

c'mon. first game of the season is pretty meaningless. we beat the bucks last year on opening night. how'd that work out for us and how'd that work out for the bucks last year?
