what does that have to do with anything?
Most of those 17 championships were won a long time ago. This is 2022. The league is way different now. Wake up, man. There's a TON the league has done over the years to improve competitive balance. 30 teams in the league today - all 30 teams play the same number of home games. All 30 teams have equal chance at getting good players - they all have to follow the same rules in terms f salary cap, etc. All 30 teams have good facilities, technology for breaking down film, for training their players. It's the closest it's ever been to a level playing field. There's literally zero reason why the celtics should have higher expectations than any other team.
Oh and the Hawks don't have zero championships so there goes your credibility.
Celtics should have higher expectations because their 2 best players were in the ECF's just 2 years ago and have since become MUCH BETTER players.
We have improved the personel on the bench this year over when we had last year.
Yet we are worse.
Why shouldnt we have higher expectations than a team that is 3? games below 500
that wasn't my point. The other guy was implying that point blank, we should have higher expectations than the hawks, simply because we have 17 titles as a franchise and the hawks have zero (which he was wrong about, the hawks actually have won 1 title).
I'm simply saying that in general (forget about rosters or how far a team went 2 years ago), celtics fans for some reason have warped, unrealistic expectations - the guy i was responding to (and many others on here, on twitter and facebook) for some reason think that just because the celtics have won 17 titles, that magically means we should have MUCH higher expectations than every other team in the league.
No!
It doesn't mean sh*t.
There's nobody on the current celtics team who was part of any of those 17 title teams. Most of those titles were won a long time ago, before Tatum was even born.
The suns, nets and Jazz are 3 of the favorites this season. Guess how many NBA titles they have won. Zero. None of them have won a single title.
That's all I'm saying. This "oh man, we've won 17 titles, we're the celtics. I can't believe we haven't won a title since 2008, blah blah" is a bunch of BS..
