What happens if next season, Al falls off a cliff, and Rob goes back to being a guy who can’t stay on the court? Then suddenly we’re a team that gets knocked out in the second round, and the future becomes a question again.

I don’t want these things to happen, but they are absolutely on the table. This team continues to be trash any time Tatum sits, that’s not going to change with our current core, the sample size makes it impossible to ignore. And yeah I know we got to game 6 of the finals, but we lost because we couldn’t afford to rest JT all season/postseason.

This isn’t even about being willing to trade Jaylen for KD, I’m rambling lol. We just need to add a fair amount more talent if the Celtics don’t want to risk taking a step back.

And what if all that happens even after a KD trade? And KD, being in his mid 30s, understandably begins to decline rapidly and/or has more health issues? Of course if the worst case scenario plays out in either direction then the future will look bleak

This is why I want Beal, is a happy medium lol. Obviously I’d do Jaylen for KD, but I’d also be very happy adding Beal without gutting the team.

Dubs deluded fans into thinking title windows still exist.

Can't see much risk in JB leaving in a few years, whereas KD might not be near the player in a few years given his age and frame.

Might as well deal Steph for Tatum, since nothing is guaranteed and Steph >>>>> Tatum in this past series.

KD is kind of soft at times and is physically past his prime. Jaylen is nearing his peak years and could become a guy who much more consistently resembles the superstar level player we have seen occasional flashes of.

KD at PF and a better ball handler at SG instantly makes us a much better team, though. And I fully expect KD to remain one of the league's best players for at least a few seasons.

I know this is sarcasm, but there’s a massive difference between trading a first team all nba guy, versus trading a one time all star/top 25ish guy.

I would do that too. Give me KD and Curry the next two seasons.

Yes sarcasm, but Tatum disappeared in the Finals, especially in Game 6, so wouldn't say there's a massive difference considering JB didn't disappear in Game 6.

Of course there’s a massive difference, by any and every possible measure. But yeah, let’s use a 6 game sample instead.

Uh huh lol.

I just wanna win one Celtics title. Don't really care who gets us there.

I'm operating in the assumption that either or both Jays are gone past their current contracts. Though Tatum might be easier to convince to stay cos of the supermax thing and he's the face of the franchise while JB will always be viewed as the #2 as long as he's in Boston.

Doing that doesn't even gets us close to the title.

As Zoya has already stated. It is No guarantee that JB even re-signs after 2 more years. Imagine having a chance to get KD, but instead we don't cause JB is 25 etc.. but JB leaves to the first desperate team that promises him the "bat-man" role. (not Grant of course)

Maybe JB doesn't want to be "robin" to Tatum's Batman.

With Tatum and KD, I can play the shooting guard spot and we'd win 50..
2 things need to go.. my lack of spell check and Joe..

Steef said it but this poll should be named “ do you enjoy winning championships or not”....

if you wouldn’t trade Jaylen brown for a top 3 player whose still playing at an mvp level and even if he dropped off 30% would still be in a different tier than Jaylen you just can’t be taken seriously. I’ve been hard on Jaylen and I’ve eaten crow in certain regards but this is just a new level of homerism blind love.

Yeah I wouldn't flinch. Not adding to the swap though aside from making salaries match.

Because KD has done nothing but win championships in Brooklyn. Oh wait...he's won one Playoff series. With a full strength team including a former MVP and another first ballot HOFer. Against a .500 team missing their second star. And they still didn't sweep the series.

KD won two rings by joining a literal dynasty who won it all twice without him. Outside of that, one Finals appearance a decade ago. That's it. And all of this was with a younger, less injury prone KD.

You guys will do ANYTHING to diminish players who are clearly better than brown. You do it every time it comes up and while sometimes you have valid points - trying to diminish KD’s career to prop up brown is next level stuff.

He’s a top 10 player all time.....all time. What the **** would Jaylen brown do as a number 1?..........oh wait......he’s not good enough to be a number 1. He’s an all nba guy tho......oh wait. No he’s not. Well he’s a multiple time all star/perennial all star right ?.....oh wait no he’s not.

KD? Guy is a 2x champ no matter how you spin it. Got to a finals as the guy before and won an mvp. The mental gymnastics you have to try to do to diminish him is not only exhausting but laughable.
