We should win the series, but Embiid is a special player. He'll probably be the MVP. Any time you have a player that good, you have a puncher's chance. I think the Spurs beat the Rockets 5-0 in the regular season in '95 before Hakeem had the defining Playoff series of his career to eliminate them.

I agree with this. Posters here acting like the Sixers are peanuts. If we don’t keep our **** together, we might not even get past the 1st rd.

Solid effort, Philly really wanted it and Tucker was fools gold tonight in the end! Trust the process, we beat these fools in 4 or 5.

Just posted this in the Seeding Thread:

Frustrating loss because of Biid out of his mind, absurdly atypical shooting down the stretch by PJ. and 3 super critical FTs missed when we had the mo - by JT & Malcolm of all people.
Derrick was brilliant, Malcolm was excellent & should have played Q4 instead of Smart. **** u, Bubblegum pussy!
Tatum was relatively quiet.

Bucks 57-22
Celtics 54-25
Sixers 52-27

Magic Number to lock in the 2 seed remains 1 with 3 games left for both teams.
Magic Number is also 1 to be officially eliminated from the 1 seed. It is gone gone.

We got the Raps, Raps & Hawks - both of whom are competing for HC in the PI. We better win at least 1 to lock in the 2 seed in case the Sixers win out.
The Sixers got the Heat, Hawks & Nets - all of whom also fortunately have reasons to win.
The Bucks got the Bulls, Grizz & Raps - but it really does not matter now.

Yeah this can't instill confidence into them. Embiid had to score 50, Tucker had to hit back-to-back threes, Boston missed free throws and they were down to starters and Philly only won by two

I actually am a little more worried about Miami in the first than Philly in the 2nd. Don’t trust Joe against Spoelstra and a team that plays down is their wet dream. Philly is a bad matchup and either Doc will sink the ship or Embiid will run out of gas. Puncher’s chance but same could be said for most teams this season

This is the difference between our statement games & Phily’s statement games.
We waltz into Milwaukee & dust them by also 50.
Phily have to get a 50 piece from Embiid & scrape by against us without Brown.

Well, the good thing is that the Sixers ain't that much of a monster some people (including me) were thinking.

The bad thing out if it is that I think Grant Williams time as a Celtics is not going to last too long. Yeah he has intangibles and when he wants, he plays well, but when he's bad, he's atrocious and that big **** mouth of his costs us way too much sometimes. Sad thing considering he used to be so beloved by the fans, guess now he is so unbearable that most us don't like him that much.

Hilarious way for Philly to beat Celts while gaining no confidence.

Don't take much from the loss but it would be nice to see an end of game play for someone other than JT. JT has a great record but everyone knows we're going to him. If we change it up a little then when we do go to JT he might not have 3-4 people on him.

Would have liked to see the inbound pass to Horford for a three attempt. The Horford family are owed a chance to steal the soul from Philly.

I think Joe purposely didn't put Al on Embiid at all. Show them nothing until we meet later.

The heat actually terrifies me. A really bad matchup for us. We can’t stop Bam, who turns into prime shaq against us. they have a closer in butler, who turns into prime MJ against us. Herro is good. Have bunch of good shooters. Strus turns into prime ray allen against us. and are very active with their hands, which is bad against the Jays erratic ball handling. If we get to 7 games against them, who knows what will happen against a much rested sixers.

...and they only just scraped by at home with us short handed and not putting our best defender on him much.

Embiid was great though.

If you want to see something different to finish games, and not having 3 guys on JT all the time, then smart should need to hit the bench in favor of Brog. Brog, at least would try to attack inside, can hit the mid range and the 3. There are tons of plays where Smart was open, and Tatum won’t pass it to him, and opted to find horf instead. Our offense will never achieve its full potential with marcus in it. It’s not like brog or white are slouch on D. Joe is a coward period.

It took a 52-point effort from Embiid and three PJ Tucker threes to beat us, and we still had a chance in the closing seconds. That said, facing Philly in the 2nd round is still a scary thought. Embiid just cemented his MVP win with this game.

I welcome Philly with open arms in the 2nd round.

Easy series.

I second this.

I'm all for Brogdon, but don't fully agree on Marcus. While Smart is not a great shooter, he's a great primary or secondary passer in these situations. I do think however that Smart should not be automatic to finish games.

Timelord would have helped alot-- not necessarily on Embiid but on defense generally.
