Easily. Not only is he still a better player, but he's a better fit offensively.

If Smart was traded I would be glad actually but Brad would have to move quick on it.

Don't trade Smart. Bring him off the bench

It looks like the Suns are going to waive him.

Smart is going to retire a Cs, IMO. however, I am a little more scared that Brad will try to do something dumb.

I wish CP3 would choose us, but I'm not even feeling he'd look our way over all the other options he's likely to have. He could start with Smart over White IF starting is a must for him.

White needs to start, he's our 3rd best player atm

Guys, CP3 is beyond washed. Hence a contender weighing eating $15.8m in dead salary next year just to be able to use a TPMLE for half of that.

He wants to take Pritchard's role for similar money, so be it. But whatever.

I think CP3's value to the Suns can't be compared to us. He was making way too much money for a team with no depth (hence no option to give him rest either).

If you can get CP3 here while keeping Smart/White you're giving the team an experienced guy that is not afraid to bark, fixes our big playmaking issues, knows how to properly orchestrate a team motion offense. That has great value at a much lower salary.

I don't expect Paul to be our starting PG star in the Finals but he definitely could've helped us more to get there instead of Brogdon.

Paul can definitely coast in this team through the RS.

I just want to mention I was one of the first one in this board to mention CP3 as a possible solution. I'll save this message if we get to sign him so I can kiss my ass or you guys can flame me if we get to see the results next year.
Robert Horry is better than MJ, because everybody knows that 7>6.

Given his long history of soul-crushing playoff losses, he does belong with this Celtics team.

he's washed and our offense runs through the Jays. Paul would essentially be playing off-ball. Horrible fit since we already don't have minutes for all our guards.

I'm all for signing CP3 if we have a chance.

Everything people are saying about him being cooked now, is what they were saying about him being cooked 3-4 seasons ago. Granted he is now going on 38, his numbers were solid last year.

And in a worst case scenario, dude's a winner who makes maybe the best assistant coach we could possibly sign.

I know he has no rings - but he has made it to the postseason 12 times in his career and has led multiple inexperienced, not that deep teams past the first round. He is about the same age Jason Kidd was when he won his first ring.

I really feel bad for Suns fans. I know this was rumored, but I can't believe they outright waived the guy. I know lux tax is tough and I think there were implications beyond next season, but a winning team doesn't cut CP3 entering the last year(s) of his contract just to save half his salary (and maybe gain an MLE guy, still). You hope to keep the guy around your organization long term.

You've got the lingering influence of Robert Sarver (who was misogynystic but most importantly a penny pincher and a self important douche by all accounts), you've got Monty Williams being scapegoated in exchange for Vogel, an Obie protege who was most recently hired to be a puppet for Bron, you've got CP3, the guy who turned around your team's culture and helped make you a contender cut just to save on payroll...and this is happening shortly after you traded your best, highly underrated young piece in a deal for an aging KD who didn't immediately put them over the top.

(reading more now, he is eligible to resign with the Suns for the vet min if he clears waivers, and there is an outside chance of a wink wink agreement)

2010 called, it wants its player wish list back. CP3 is about 5 minutes from yelling at clouds and falling asleep after Matlock.

Yeah he won't. But is he an upgrade over Smart? Yes. Even a washed version is an upgrade. I honestly believe this organization loves Marcus so much that they wouldn't bench him for anyone.

Have to trade one of them (likely Brogdon) anyways - it's basically a guarantee due to the new CBA.

For sure he's going to be here longer than Tatum or Brown. At least while Brad is around. There is an excellent chance he retires a Celtic and they pay him like a secondary star once his contract is up. His value to Brad is immense even though they should be looking for a PG to push this team to the next level. I firmly believe you could give the Celtics prime CP3 and the organization would still bench him for Marcus.
