I’m doing: Smart, Brogdon, Pritchard, Kornet
for Porzingis, Avdija, Delon Wright. Only adds 1 million in payroll this year - pre-Grant you’re at 158 million.
White/Wright/Davison
Jaylen/TBD
Tatum/Avdija/Hauser
Rob/Gallo
KP/Al/Muscala
You can keep Grant, sign and trade him, or let him walk and use the full MLE..
Why in hell would the Wizards do that?
A. They're trying to clear cap. Smaller contracts are easier to trade.
B. Smart and Brogdon have high re-sale value.
C. They have a surplus of wings and Avdija is both inconsistent and due for an extension. He also balances the priced-in risk with KP.
D. Wright is expendable for them and he fills a need for us.
Re: B., say they get Beasley/Bamba's expirings and 17 for Brogdon and THJ/10 for Smart.
Suddenly you've got 10, 17, and 17 million in salary commitments instead of 45. Depending on what they do with Chris Paul they could end up under the cap with a team headed right for the top 5 in the draft.
They're a clogged, clotted mess over there from previous management. Look at the Beal deal and ask "why in hell" they did that.
