As a Memphis fan, thanks for sending us Smart. We badly need a veteran leader on this squad.

As for Boston, if Kristaps is healthy you’d be back as East favorites again next season.

I wish him the best, really interested to see how he does on another team.
Good assessment:

No one this side of KG has delivered any championships in Boston. Can we not like a player who plays the right way?

Bye.

Wish we could have found a way to get Jones in the deal. Jones is the perfect kind of point guard to pair with Tatum and Brown.

Watched every minute of Smart in a C’a uniform. I’ll miss him, but at the same time, he could be frustrating sometimes. Good with the bad I guess. Great culture player.

KG does not deliver **** without Truth.

I was so beyond happy when he won the DPOY award. I feel like in some alternate universe we win it all that year and he retires a celtic many years later... But sadly not in this universe. I will always wish him the best. Thanks for everything.

Sad to see Smart go but you knew after these playoffs something had to change and we can’t keep having the same core and repeating the same mistakes. If Smart was really that leader then we wouldn’t be ass at home in the playoffs the last 2 deep runs. Something wasn’t sitting right and all of us fans know. The way the Celtics started 0-3 against the heat and having Smart comment that the team just didn’t play hard enough in those games stings. It’s not just Smart but the whole team failed to get up in some of these games particularly at home during the playoffs. Smart also is nowhere near the defender he once was, he was legit the best guard defender I’ve seen in a long ass time during the IT days but he gradually was losing a step each season. I guess all those injuries and idk maybe the motivation getting recognition he deserved made him not give maximum effort that he used to have.

With that being said, I’m gonna miss the guy. Really the first lottery pick the Celtics had that made an impact since the Pierce/KG days. He loved being a Celtic and the fans clearly loved him back. He really is one of a kind, you get everything, the hustles nobody else does daily, the frustrating shots he would take and sometimes make, all the off court stuff in helping the community and being that vocal presence for the younger guys on this team. I wanted him along with Al and the Jays to win the title so bad as a group but unfortunately we came really close and lot of self mistakes killed us. It was time for a change but forever thank you Marcus Smart.

It might be for the best but I love Marcus and his will to compete. I worry that this is a very bad move.

However I recognise something did need to change and Marcus, despite how much I love most of what he brings, did frustrate me with some brain fades and he is the weakest link in a Joe shoot the 3s plan. I love me some White so him getting more minutes softens the blow.

I wish Marcus nothing but the best and am very grateful for him and his time at the Celtics.

My favourite players on the team were Smart and PP. Gave 110% every time they step on the court. We better not get rid of PP now.

It’s hard to imagine him no in a different jersey.

AgentGreen wrote:Pains me to say it. But this is the right deal. We have White and we desperately need a PG who can facilitate.

Smart is a great player but his play style doesn't fit our roster anymore. With the Jay's being too turnover prone and Smart not being able to facilitate and being the type of guard who can break the zone.

Guess that last turnover got Brad thinking.

Good luck in Memphis Marcus. You'll be a huge upgrade replacing Brooks. He will be able to play his style of ball with Ja moving the ball. We keep White as the main closer now, win - win situation for both teams.

Guess the Brogdon health got Brad moving the wrong player
We are stuck with Brogdon over Smart - and for a one year rent of Porzingis
We lost the only Celtics spirit guy on the team
I am not happy

Maybe the picks will help ease the feeling
