I hate Drew Carter commentating, like nails on chalk board. What do you think poll.

Seems like the commentating he's doing is kind of "paint by numbers". He's not doing anything wrong, but it's definitely lacking that little something extra that separates the good commentators from the average. That will only come with time, so you gotta give him room to grow.

To his credit though, he's not bad and I mean that as a compliment. There have been plenty of times where I've had to watch a non-Boston stream of a game and wanted to mute the game because their crew sucked for one reason or another. Drew is already above that level, which bodes well.

I actually like the pair of Scal and Carter. What I've noticed is that at first Scal was giving him quite a hard time (kind of like a broadcasting version of hazing), but soon Carter caught on, and he started asking Scal lots of questions, that got Scal more on a nicer note. Now they've already seem to have developed a nice back-and-forth relationship.
Carter does still make a lot of vanilla comments, but I figure that's just his way of warming up until he gets to know the guys better. It's also nice to have a guy who actually knows something about other sports. Neither Scal or Gorman know much outside of basketball.
I think we need to give this guy a chance before calling for the pitchforks and torches.

Gorman was great because of the relationship with Heinsohn. He knew how to wind him up and he knew when to get out of the way. It will be the same here, If Carter can call a game without making it about himself, and Scal can inform and entertain then they will be fine. The pressure is on Scal.

Decent enough so far. Never really know with that role until we're in the dog days of the season though and he's got a 30pt blowout on his hands in the 2nd quarter.
Gorman's strongest suit to me was his ability to be the Boston everyman, in a non-offensive or caricature kind of way, which isn't a shtick you can just formulate or work at. Get this guy an apartment on Dot Ave, that's where he'll find his footing.

I couldn't care less what Tommy would have thought. Truth be told, without Mike Tommy would have been borderline insufferable. Sputtering about the refs the entire game is entertaining? Give the new guy a chance.

I find him surprisingly good. Maybe because of low expectations but still. Yeah he knows nothing about C's history but he seems to know quite a bit about guys around the league. He does his homework.

A good play by play guy is like a good offensive lineman. They should just do their job, keep the flow, and not draw any unwanted attention. I think he does a solid job at that.

If you want to replace someone replace Scal with JvG. That would be ridiculously entertaining.

I can't quite +1 this, because I always cared what Tommy thought, but I agree with the sentiment that his last years on the mic were not particularly good. He'd earned it -- and I'm glad he went stayed with the team until his end -- but it was time.
