Love this as an opener.

Knicks are a good team that will require teamwork and good basketball to beat. They bring good players to bear for the full 48 min and will always go hard. Hopefully our guys are ready. Always a great atmosphere too.

Celtics 117-109

Knicks gave us a ton of problems last year. They are good but always felt like we shouldn’t have had those results, I never trusted last years team….please let’s be great from the start this time

Cs replaced Smart, Rob, and Grant with KP and Jrue.

There's just no reason for the Cs to be erratic starting this season.

Jrue and KP are fundamentally sound and that's one of the things needed to have consistency.

Fwiw we didn't start erratic last season at all lol. They went 21-5 and looked amazing. Let's not rewrite how last season went.

Looks like his text book move - somehow goad guys into the most wild contests of all time then power through the lane from way out with a two handed dunk. Good recipe for highlight jams!

Cs were just 4-3 to start the season and lost twice to the Cavs, both in OT.

The other loss was to the Bulls where Vooch had 23 rebounds and Drummond had 12 rebounds in 15 minutes.

It was clear the Cs were having a hard time with teams with quality bigs.

Looking forward to Wednesday Night!

Brad Stevens has done a really nice job adding front court depth to this Celtics team by getting Nathan Knight and Neemias Queta on two way deals. Celtics now have options and still one roster spot available for later on.

Let' Go Celtics!!

The Knicks are a good team with a big front court that crashes the boards hard. This is a good test early on for this team. Celtics are better on paper but the Knicks aren’t going to make it easy

Last year the C's began the season looking like one of the all-time best offensive teams in the history of the sport - until they later cooled down (and kind of lost their identity). Personally I hope the C's look more like an extremely well-rounded team this year, focusing on being in the top 5 on both offense and defense all season. In other words, rather than seeing the C's put up 140 or so on the knicks, and giving up around 130 points, I'd rather see them win like 110 to 99, and set up an identity of being elite on both ends of the court.

Cs also have a big frontcourt now with the addition of KP.

Yeah, last season the Cs were elite when they were making 3s.

But when the Cs got cold from 3, there was no one like KP who can get points inside the paint and make midrange shots.

The Celtics got KP? When?

Definitely! I also kind of got the feeling that Joe wanted to make a point of showing that it was now his team, and rather than just following in Udoka's shadow of focusing so much on defense, he wanted to try some different things. It just felt like he deliberatly took a good deal of the focus off of the defensive side of the ball last year. Near the end of the season there did seem to be more of a renewed focus on the defensive side, though, so hopefully this year he'll put more emphasis on it again.

We were the 3rd ranked defense in the league last season.

Yup, eventually they did start focusing on the D (and showed just how good they could be when they wanted to be), but it still seemed like they weren't really sure about their identity (which showed in the PO's against Miami). I'm just hoping that they will focus on both sides of the ball the whole season, starting with this first game. If they can keep NY under 100 points, that will be an awesome start.

Weren't the Cs #1 in defense back in 2022?

The problem of the Cs the last few years is offense.

Revenge games from Porzingis, Kornet, and Knight incoming Knicks wouldn't know what hit them. Combined 80 points, 40 rebounds, and 15 blocks.

The problem of the Cs the last few years is offense.

Tied for #1 in 2021-22 but Rob played 61 games and Horford played 69. Partly due to stinking in the playoffs the season before, had the most rest of any Celtics team in recent memory.

We were #2 ranked offense in 2022-23 and something like #2 all time. A nice problem to have.
