Rumor has it he can deadlift 600 lbs.

Idk if that’s true but he’s really played an excellent series as someone who’s not a Jaylen guy. If he doesn’t win ECF MVP, I’m mad for him.

That’s like 2 Embiids and a Maxey.

Watching JB at the Slam Dunk contest, he looked really big.

He's listed at around 220 lbs, but I think he's around 230.

JT should be working out with JB, what a freaking tank he is.
Drop your cheerios trainer JT.
JB’s bosom friend KP will definitely join for the leg torture sessions next pre-season.
Take it easy on the Unicorn JB.

This type of driving / cutting is what we've always needed! Just imagine how good he will be in 2-3 years, when his ballhandling is even better. Just gonna be ramming his way to the rim like Lebron Jr

“The main thing about J.B. is every year he’s gotten so much better,” White said. “He’s just reading the game better. I think maybe before he got sped up and wasn’t really reading it, but now you can’t really speed him up. And he’s just making the right reads time and time again. That’s big time for us.

“He has an innate ability to just get better and to work hard, motivation, he has unreal confidence, but he’s also not afraid to work on things that he knows he has to get better at,” coach Joe Mazzulla said. “So you see him every day at shoot around or practice, he’s out there with six or seven coaches working on every possession, every spacing imaginable so that he sees his reads. He just cares about the right stuff.”

I recall him tweeting he was 240 - ie. Paul Pierce sized.

Jaylen Brown: “I’m 240 lbs chasing around Steph Curry. That’s a different level of shape you have to be in. But when you’re playing the best, you have to take on that challenge.”

Said Steph is a top 10 player ever.

"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

Wow!

240 is what Tony Battie weighed and he's 6-11.

No wonder defenders are just bouncing off JB.

Great post! What has really annoyed me over past 2 years is how this forum turned against him even though he is a guy who works so hard to get better every year. His conditioning and athletic ability is top notch but instead of relying on that he has really added to his game every year. He was all NBA last year and got rewarded with largest contract in NBA history and what did he do? He got better and made arguably the biggest leap in his career to date. Not only does he get better every year….but he steps up his game in playoffs every year too. Sure, he looked bad against Heat in ECF last year…..but compare his stats in the 2 previous series to the next MJ (Ant) this year and see how great he was. How do you root against a guy like that (from a pure basketball point of view)?

The idea of trading a 26 yo like that for a 35 yo franchise killer like Durant (which would have meant including White/Smart and 3 #1 picks) was mind boggling to me. The narrative of Kyrie dragging down Durant has really been turned on its ear this season seeing Kyrie about to get to finals and another embarrassing first round sweep for Durant.

JB has been to ECF 6 times in his 8 year career. He has been there with and without Horford, IT, Kyrie, Gordon, Kemba, Smart, and Tatum too. He is the only common denominator to all ECF appearances during the Brad era - not saying he is the main reason for most of them but he was a big part in all of those runs. The only first round exit for Celtics during his career - he didn’t play because of a surgery. He is a proven winner many times over. Now let’s see he and Tatum get a ring.

From NBA.com email:

The Situation: Jaylen Brown's 40-point outburst on Thursday gave the Celtics their first Game 2 victory of the postseason and a 2-0 lead heading into tonight's Game 3 (8:30 ET, ABC).

The Significance: Brown didn't just tie his Playoff career-high and match the third-most points in C's history in an East Finals game — he marked the culmination of a season that's seen him take his game to new heights.

The Road: After falling in the 2023 East Finals, Brown returned this season and talked about his desire to improve as a playmaker.

Brown In November 2023: "That's the role that I want. That's the role that I want to improve in. Teams are going to continue to try to take away certain things from me... so it's a balance."

Four months later, he was seeing the results — using the entire floor to attack while distributing and scoring more efficiently.

Left Is Right: This season, 57.3% of Brown's drives are to his left — versus 46.5% last season

One Result: JB’s more balanced attack has helped increase his scoring frequency on isolations from 42.1% last season to 59.8% this season

Assists/Turnovers: Brown posted career-highs in assists (3.6 apg) and assist/turnover ratio (1.5) this season
Shooting: Despite taking his fewest shots per game (17.9) since 2020 and his fewest 3s per game (5.9) since 2019-20, Brown averaged 23.0 ppg this season on a career-high 49.9% field goal percentage

Brown In March 2024: "I feel like I improved on a lot of the stuff I needed to work on... Improve my mentality and attack my weaknesses. Some of the stuff that you could say about me last year, you can't say this year."

The Return: Brown, averaging a Playoff career-high in points (24.8) and FG% (54.4%), has seen his individual numbers balloon, but says the root of his motivation comes from last year's Game 7 ECF loss to the Heat.

Brown's Motivation: "The loss. When you come up short on your home floor... We've had embarrassments, we've had mistakes. And I've used it all to improve."

Tatum has plenty of muscles. Now he just need to build muslce memory in them so that he can shoot at least as well as he did before he grew them out.

Indeed, it takes some time.

JB is just a different physical level; could be a Track & Field Olympian, Football Power Back, Rugby Winger.
JB is a racing tank.

I particularly like this Point Forward version of JT. It suits the team perfectly.
JB the vocal leader, JT the floor general.
Jrue the silent leader.
Hard not to expect at least another chip in the coming years.

When he attacks the rim, he is really fun to watch. When he settles for contested 3s (not as often as it used to be), not that much. He has the leadership material, more than anyone in this squad. I'm glad we haven't traded him for KD, who's basically nothing but a gun to hire.
