Nice win.

VC to Tatum and KP.

Tatum with an amazing 3rd quarter and a great overall game. Probably his best game ever. He did it all. 43 points, 16 rebounds, 10 assists and 9 made 3s.

What a difference this game was vs Thursday's game. We didn't settle for 3s. We attacked the paint and ended up with a season high 60 points in the point. We also rebounding well and played defensive.

Brown and Al also played well.

Props to coach Joe for a great coached game.

Jrue and White need some rest.

Celtics are now 16-0 when limiting opponents under 110 points and 13-1 when limiting opponents to below 54.0% eFG%. No matter how many threes they put up.

Defense is key. Bulls still got 21 fastbreak points -- were really good at turning our mistakes into points -- but had trouble scoring in the half court. Looks like Joe went double big most of the night other than the minutes the starting five played together.

(Tatum consistently doing 90% of whatever this was will make him garner more support for MVP.)

Not saying the defense doesn't deserve some credit but it seems like when Boston plays better on offense and in this case Tatum our defense reflects much better results.

They’re connected but poor shooting shouldn’t leak into poor defensive effort. That’s what happened early in the 4th last game. That’s where the game got away from them. They were still getting good looks, missed a ton, and didn’t match up coning back. They were also missing a ton of shots in the first half last game but still defended well. Defense was more sustained this whole game regardless of shooting results.

I can’t believe Drew and Scal didn’t get a dunk score for that Tatum one. Adding that to his stat line would have truly set it apart.

Side not, JB is throw some fireball passes to teammates 3’ away the last few game. Attacking the paint great, but those passes, lol.

You’re probably tired of me, but give me Tatum all day and every day over one end man. The media be hating! He’ll just be my MVP since people act like he’s not that…

Tatum is better than most, I’m here every season hoping this team and some of its fans don’t have to find out the hard way. MVP or not, hell forget about it, there isn’t five teams with a player that’s better the last few seasons! I said what I said! argue with your mama!

True. Poor shooting can't affect your defense or rebounding effort
But poor shooting made CHI run with minimal resistance. And the 2-3 offensive rebounds that ended with open 3s were devastating

I guess some zone, more double bigs and Kornet made a difference
Kornet crashing the boards slowed CHI some as they were slower to get to their offense and we were already settled

Nice adjustment by Joe on the defensive end and great work by the players

Zone and double bigs should make the Celtic defense better.

The rim protection and rebounding will be better.

What I like about Joe is he's not afraid to experiment.

If this is what we see from the Cs on a regular basis, the #1 seed will be ours soon.

I was curious so I looked it up.

The Celtics defended last game off their made shot (1.23 PPP) way worse than after a missed one (1.09 PPP). Bunch of weirdos. So it had very little to do whether they made a shot or not. They just didn't defend the Bulls speed and activity well. Plus LaVine hit a bunch of BS contested threes.

This game was a huge improvement. Only 0.91 PPP off a made shot and 0.82 PPP off a Bulls defensive rebound.

Shooting variance, as always, plays a role in these one-game samples.

In terms of Game Score (per BBRef), this was his 6th best regular season performance behind:
• 60-pt game vs. Spurs
• 51/10/7 vs. Wizards
• 53/10/4 in OT vs. Wolves
• 49/11 vs. Heat
• 51/9/5 vs. Hornets

Then he had a 50/6/7 vs. BKN in 2021 playoffs and that 51/13/5 masterpiece in G7 vs. Philly in 2023.

No one here is wrong. Stats aside, it just feels like human nature. Making shots = feels good. Feels good = more energy. Not exactly a scientific conclusion but..

Tatum went nuclear. On a side note, I want the 1 seed, but this is one of those years where I don't think it will matter much. We beat Cleveland either way, IMO. in 6. Maybe even 5.

Could matter vs. OKC.

Also, within the conference, the #1 seed has a better chance of missing the hottest play-in team.

No serious team is losing to the hottest play in team. If we lose to whoever in that scenario we were never winning it all anyways. I get you tho. I'm all about the path of least resistance. And yes, definitely could matter with OKC.

I don't get the fear of OKC.

That team hasn't even made it to the conference finals yet.

If they make it to the finals, the pressure of being in the finals for the first time is something they have to deal with.

The Cavs are a bigger threat than OKC.

Thanks for checking the stats
Down from 1.09 PPP after a miss to 0.82 PPP after a miss is certainly due to shooting variance but can also be attributed to some defensive adjustments and increased effort

For me it was the eye test. In our age eye test can beat the Stats (or truth) anytime :D

If the Celtic defense is frustrating, take a look at Denver's defense.

Return to Boston Celtics
