Single-big lineups were very effective in limited minutes in this game. +8 in about 8 minutes (more than half c/o Kornet). Double-big lineups were just +5 in almost 40 minutes.

Celtics are 23-4 when Horford has double-digit rebounds in a Mazzulla era game (3-0 in playoffs). No longer happens often, but when Al is active and physical, Cs are harder to beat.

Only two instances of a Celtics player reaching 32/14/7 in a game since Bird retired. Both are by Tatum this season.

Celtics are the only team in top 5 in offense (4) and defense (5).

They took 60.4% of their shots from 3. Now 10-0 when they take more than 3/5 from of their shots beyond the arc.

Celtics are now 84-2 in Mazzulla era when limiting opponents to below 55% effective FG% and shooting at least 55% eFG% themselves.

That Porzingis highlight video was really long. I had to break for a snack.
Wemby should try to play like Zinger. Develop that high post game.

Tatum is so good. I have to admit I am one of those general board losers that ranked Tatum 6th in the league. I should really move him up to 4th. Doncic is declining ( at 25) and Wemby isn’t there yet.

I thought a lot about these stats. When a player X has this and that we win

Of course when we play good we win!!
And of course we lose if we play bad

There are probably a lot of these telling stats we can throw on the wall

Just play Celtics basketball and all will be good

I haven't watched Wemby a ton except highlights this season, but he seemed to really be in poor conditioning this game. Huffing and puffing 3 minutes into a quarter.

Not necessarily. What if only player X plays well and rest of the team stinks? Do they still win? I think Horford’s double digit rebounding is enough of an outlier that it bears highlighting at his age. Doing it as a 7th man for Cs (85% win rate) vs. when he was with Hawks as one of their top guys (61% win rate) is different.

Or how about Celtics winning 92.5% of their games when Holiday scores 15 pts while Bucks only winning less than 70% of their games when Jrue did it for them. (Jrue having a totally different offensive role has a lot to do with this.)

It’s fine. I’ll tell CG to stop posting stats, not that he will listen.

I didn't mean for CG to stop posting stats (not that he will :))
I just said that if a player that is performing above his averages, mainly our 4-7 player - we usually win (not when PP plays in garbage time and pads his stats in a blowout loss)
Al with 10+ rebounds (which is rare), Jrue with 15 or more points (which is more common but still rare - averaging about 12 points a game), Hauser with at least 4 3s made on 40%+ etc.

When we play well as a team, some of these stats will be achievable.

Love what I'm seeing from Hauser lately. Looks like the Craig signing gave him that extra oomph. And you probably can't get a better 10th man than Craig. Kudos to Brad on this one.

Also as much as I love JB, the offense just looks better in general when everything goes through Tatum, but this is like what we've been all saying for years.

I really like Wem, prob my fave non-Celtic in the league if I had to pick someone. But yeah there's been a lot of debate about his shot selection and the way the Spurs are using him. Lots of fans want him to play around the rim like a center, but it seems like the Spurs vision for him is more of an uber-Durant on offense. Which is a better player to be in this era. And he has the skills, but it doesn't always look good at this point. In the long run he probably ends up being a combination of both things, but he's not there yet.

During the Celtics broadcast there was a brief mention that he might be sick or have a cold, I think he was spotted blowing his nose on the sideline or something.

I'm gonna say it, if Porzingod gets ~18 shots a game, he'd average 25-27 a game(if he's healthy I guess)... He big-bro-ed Wemby.

This team is amazing and I think what I said before the season started still stands- they aren't going to be as motivated for the regular season as they were last year, but if they play up to their potential, nobody will come close and it will be a somewhat of a repeat of last postseason. And yes, I include the Thunder in that same category. Thunder ain't stopping Tatum, Brown, Porzingis, White, Jrue, Prich, Horfie and Hauser.
Good assessment:

That makes more sense, he really disappeared for long stretches. Of course, the fear for Spurs fans is that it’s more that their coaching staff has no idea how to use him.

That team is gonna be a problem soon, but luckily not quite this year.

Went Tatum. KP was super efficient, but only if you ignore the 743 possessions he was involved in that resulted in turnovers.

EDIT: Not a shot at the previous post, fallguy. I always do mine before reading the full thread. KP was insane, but it also felt like half the time we tried to go to him we turned the ball over.

Oh you're more than welcome to disagree with me. I assure you I'm an idiot.

And yeah, I should have contexted that. He was super efficient when he wasn't turning the ball over. That said - he was also a real factor on defense.
