Re: Welcome to Boston/Maine, Miles Norris – (Signed Two-Way, Mar. 2, 2025)
Brad seems to do well plucking guys out of the g league or undrafted guys.
In the draft he’s swung on:
Juhann Begarin
JD Davison
Jordan Walsh
Baylor Scheierman
Anton Watson
But he’s given two-ways to:
Sam Hauser
Neemias Queta
Luke Kornet
Drew Peterson
Justin Champagnie
DJ Steward
Dunno what the means? Seems like our two-way scouting is more fruitful than our draft pick scouting, but that’s fine. Hopefully, Miles Norris is our next great find.

his highlights give me kyle kuzma vibes. that's not bad for a bench guy, especially if unlike kuzma he has at least a passing interest in defense. if he shows out he's a natural backup to tatum which is something we don't really have.
definitely does not look 6-7. weird since his scouting reports out of college usually had him at 6-10, tbh that seems closer. i guess at UCSB he was wearing them brown baggies and platform soles.

Re: Welcome to Boston/Maine, Miles Norris – (Signed Two-Way, Mar. 2, 2025)
Love the measurables. If he can shoot the 3 he'll fit in well with what we've got going on.
Interesting college path: started at Oregon, went to City College of San Francisco as a sophomore and then did 3 years at UC Santa Barbara. Probably ended up flying under the radar because of it. Shot the 3 well in college but obviously against lower tier competition. An older guy (about to be 25) who's already done a brief stint in Europe. So realistically he probably is what he is but hopefully has the maturity to make the most of the opportunities given to him.
It's a two-way so no reason to get excited but on the face of it I like how he'd fit if he did work out, which is often how I try to look at these guys. Highly unlikely it works out, but if that scratch ticket hits, what would it look like? Seems like he'd be a solid offensive wing option with good size if that were to ever happen.

The Celtics like three point shooters. Miles Norris shoots and makes them at a high volume.

-- #Celtics sign Miles Norris to a 2way, waive Anton Watson after selecting him late in the 2R in June. Watson's shooting didn't pan out w/ Maine, while Norris has made the fourth-most threes in the G-League at 6-10 with Memphis.

Maybe he should trade the 25' draft picks and focus on undrafted guys.

G-league profile says 6'7'.

UCSB and BBref (linked above) list him as 6'10".

Height-gate with the new two-way guy in full swing.

The only way to add a quality player is to cut payroll. That means al or jrue have to go

A couple of minor notes:
-Luke was never on a 2-way contract with us. We traded for him so he was on a standard deal..we later brought him back but just on a regular maine g league contract, not a 2-way. Then signed him to standard contract again when we needed to fill out the roster towards the end of the 21-22 season.
-Hauser was essentially draft scouting (and 2 way scouting) since we signed him as an UDFA literally like 5 mins after the 2021 draft concluded. Often times, the guys who get signed that quickly after the draft ends are essentially like 2nd round picks - the player and their agent will sometimes be on the phone trying to steer teams drafting late 2nd round away from picking them so they can go undrafted, become a FA where they'll be basically able to choose their own destination and pick the team they think is the best landing spot for them..
-Champagnie was not signed to a 2-way. We had the 15th roster spot open and we signed him to it with like a week left in the season, so he had a standard contract, not a 2-way
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything

Brad Stevens and the Celtics have to hit on a few late draft picks/two way players to keep things going. Similar to Hauser, Pritchard and Queta. Miles Norris is another swing at it.

Looks like a stretch 4 type of guy with some athleticism who can put the ball on the floor a little bit.
This scouting report from before the 2023 draft says he can't defend, though..maybe we can develop his defense..

I'm intrigued if he's 6'10, and they could use another Big who can shoot and Stevens has done a very good job with the UDFA types...

That report is almost two years ago, so kinda outdated. Then again, Norris hasn't played a single NBA game. I guess we'll see. If Brad likes him and the guy has gotten stronger and worked on his D, then maybe.
For Joe, there's little chance he'll entertain another bench player that can get hunted on the defensive end.

Good shooter, and seems ok under the basket. The concern is probably going to be his lateral movement and ability to stay in front of guys on the perimeter. It's hard to tell from the limited footage, but he looks better going north-south, than east-west

I don't even know his name -- Zachary Richeeshicihei? -- Miles Norris looks like him, but for free.
Don't even know what team that guy plays for. The Hawks, right?
Now we have one too:)

I'm watching a lot of film on Norris. Mainly looking at his sitting posture when he comes out of games.
From what I can tell, his posture is decent. He sits up right and pays attention to what's happening on the court.
He will sit well on coach Joe's bench if he ever gets called up from Maine. I'm super excited.
