Really looking forward to this season.
Enjoy the spectacle more when each game brings its own unpredictable outcomes and over the season storylines of player development etc take precedence. More time to focus on whether Payton can solidify a high level starting role, Baylor takes a leap, who emerges in the front court as a meaningful future rotation guy and getting behind Derrick vying for overdue All Star acknowledgment! Then just quietly...keeping an eye on this years draft class.
This is opposed to the regular season cycle of a 60 win team where they are expected to win every, single game, and each loss receives some forensic analysis of failures and accompanying sky is falling over reactions. This might be the pause and breath of fresh air this team and fanbase actually need.
This season feels like those mid 2000s, and mid 2010s Celtics squads and I'm here for it!

Thibs would be a great assistant again if he ever wants to come back to the bench as an associate coach.
Especially if Sam ever gets his long deserved HC chance on another NBA team, I'd love to bring Thibs back
Thibs and Mazzulla would be a classic combo

It certainly feels like Jaylen is going to play. I think its a good matchup for him since the 76ers have some attackable small guards and no real wing stoppers.
Looking forward to this season, sure not being a contender for the first time in four years stinks but the intrigue of seeing some young guys (HUGO!) get a shot, seeing Brown try to be a #1, seeing Pritchard and/or White make an all-star run and seeing if the Celtics can play a different style (faster, force more TO's) is all intriguing in its own way.

Thibs in the Van Gundy role at the very least would be nice. Have a feeling the Celtics are going to need all the help they can get on the defensive end.

Should be a big test for this revamped roster..... Who's going to be our Embiid stopper now?! Dudes going to go for 30, 20, 6 on us. Lets see what Queta is really made of, this isn't the Euro World Cup anymore lol. Go C's!

The Queta/Embiid matchup is the most interesting part of the game. It will tell us all a lot about the coming season. Please don't put Garza on Embiid, don't think my eyes could take it.

It was FIBA EuroBasket, when Queta went against Nikola Jokic, who's better than Embiid and wayy healthier. Jokic put up 23, 10 and 3. Queta's Portugal team put up a good fight but lost by 11.
Embiid might have a big game but he's not the player he used to be. Injuries have really taken his toll..some games it's like he can barely walk..
He also wen against Sengun in FIBA, who put up 20, 7 and 5.
The games are 40 mins over there though, rather than 48 in the NBA.
Our best option defending Embiid might be Tillman, though. Good, smart defender..quick feet along with good strength. Seems to be pretty much back to his old, pre-injury self.
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything

The biggest single thing in the Embiid-Queta matchup is obvious. Queta can not pick up early fouls. Embiid is still an all time Flopper and Queta has a tendency to get called on silly fouls. If Gaza does end up on Embiid, I would expect lots of help. If Philly makes their open 3s we could have problems on defense.
2 things need to go.. my lack of spell check and Joe..

I think that Queta has to match Embiid's minutes. And he absolutely needs to not give up easy Fouls.

Joe Mazzulla says Jaylen Brown went through practice again today. Still day-to-day, but he’s trending towards playing on opening night tomorrow.

So, Jaylen Brown is Questionable. That could hurt us.
Still, the matchup is going to be Embiid vs Queta.

Good morning all!
I know I'm in the minority here, but this team should 100% soft tank this season. They have ZERO shot at the finals, whether or not Tatum comes back. This is a weak roster that only has a shot at the playoffs because the East is so bad.
Best thing they can do this season is tank. Try to get one of Dybantsa/Boozer/Peterson. Do I expect that? No. Do I hope they are a lottery team and don't waste our time this year? Yes.
Anyway the NBA on NBC was phenomenal last night. Love that.
Go C's. I know I sound bah humbug about this year, but tbh, I am bah humbug.
To another season boys! Let's do this thing.
