Oh well.

If we're not very good..we might end up tanking later in the season for the chance at a high draft pick.

And there's some absolute studs in this. draft. So losing is not a bad thing this season :)

Barely with no McCain, George, and whatever Embiid is now. I’d be fine adding talent through the draft, out’s been so long since they’ve hit even a rotational piece.

Yeah I didn’t understand that. Hauser had a bad game while Simmons was one of few actually scoring. Hauser comes in, blows a defensive assignment leading to a three then commits a offensive foul the next play.

When we should have sped it up. We started fine then bang, we let Edgecomb take over, then it was back and forth the rest of the way.

I will say, losses like this are easier to handle when your expectations are lowered dramatically. Still annoying though.

A tiger never changes its spots. 11-43 from 3. Awful. Plz tank. Maybe get a young inside player.

Agree with this so much. Simons may have had a little nerves early but he shook it off and played a solid game. No major defensive mistakes. Outside of JB, he's easily our best iso scorer. Hauser was useless all night. PP was not good. Hauser has no business starting, and honestly, I would've rather seen Minott or even Hugo than him. Boucher disappeared as well. Not much run for him. This game needed the energy that those 3 bring. Hauser just doesn't add enough in his minutes.
and that's "MR. Irrelevant" to you!!

His size and lack of explosiveness on drives will limit the Celtic offense if it's starting 5 vs. starting 5.

PP is at his best against the 2nd unit of opposing teams.

It’s only one game. I don’t doubt Pritch in the regular season, he just needs to see some drop and it will be fire flames! Same thing for Sam.

I think we need to learn each other better and things will settle into a groove.

Guess we'll just have to let this play out until December.

Joe will make adjustments if it's not working out.

Well, Game 1 was disappointing because of a 1 point loss. Some highlights included the 3 point shooting:

Pritch 1-7
Tillman 0-3
Boucher 0-2
Garza 0-2

and then there was

Derrick White 4-13
Hauser 2-6

Overall, the 3 wasn't there (11-43 = 25%). That's not a winning formula for a 3 point centric team.
Celts got 4 less rebounds and committed 5 more fouls. You need to outshoot the opponent when you are getting outrebounded and fouling more.

Overall:

Pts. + Rebounds + (0.5 x Assists) + Steals + (0.5 x Blocks) - Missed Field Goals - (0.5 x Missed Free Throws) - Turnovers - (0.5 x Fouls)

+19.5 Jaylen Brown 36 minutes
+18.5 Neemias Queta 25 minutes
+18 Derrick White 35 minutes

+13 Anfernee Simons 32 minutes
+12 Payton Pritchard 37 minutes (not a Prime Time Performance for 37 minutes)
+9.5 Chris Boucher 15 minutes (Nice going)

+6 Xavier Tillman 16 minutes
+3 Josh Minott 14 minutes
+2 Sam Hauser 22 minutes (a TOTAL ZIP)
-3 Luke Garza 6 minutes AND I REALLY LIKE LUKE

Joe has not been able to figure out how to play the end game so far. I don’t think he ever will.

But he has to be in it to win it

Fun 1st game, sucks it ended that way.

I'd like to think this is one of those nights when a player is simply unstoppable, and the 76ers had 2 of those tonight.

Tillman actually played better than I imagined he would and he didn't even really need to guard Embiid. But man he got like only 5 inches of vertical leap on that last minute put back attempt...

If that were true then the Cs would've lost Games 2 and 3 to Dallas in the 2024 Finals.

Blaming Joe when all PP had to do was pass the ball to an open teammate for the winning shot.

Like I said, players make coaches look bad.

As if PP didn't have a choice to give the ball to JB or White when there was still 14 seconds remaining in the game.

I wouldn't read too deeply into it.

It's just 1 game.

Crunch time is the last 5 or so mins of a close game. Simons was in there for some of crunch time..and some of it he wasn't in. I wouldn't worry about it.

He didn't start the game so it shouldn't be surprising if he doesn't finish it.

The 2 guys we know will always be in at crunch time if healthy are White and JB..then someone has to play center..which leaves 2 spots for Hauser, Pritchard and Simons.

Joe is trying to win the game so he puts the guys in who he thinks give him the best chance to win. Hauser being out there gives us more size, rebounding and defense. Simons gives us more ball handling and scoring punch. Pritchard is Pritchard - good player who can handle the ball, pass, shoot, his defense is decent, he can rebound. Hauser and Pritchard have been here way longer so it seems like Joe trusts them more..although he did play Simons a lot tonight.

Again, it's just 1 game..on a game by game basis, the closing lineup might change..depending on matchups, depending on who has the hot hand, etc.
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

And we would have lost all the games in the 2024 ECF..and tons of other close games that we won with him as coach.
