actually there has been a noticeable increase in trolling since he left unfortunately, the reason that another mod might be a good idea is that it decreases the likelihood that none of the mods are on the board at any given time. All of us have lives outside of realgm, I am pretty sure we all work, and we aren't always on here, sometimes people get into flame wars or troll or whatever when one of us is not on and it gets out of hand resulting in suspensions and bans instead of just warnings.

On the other hand contrary to popular opinion, being a mod is not fun, you have to be the adult when it would be alot more fun to act like one of the children at times when people are misbehaving and breaking the rules. Darth took alot of flack for things he had nothing to do with, especially locking threads. A certtain percentage of people on this board just have a problem with any sort of authority and you have to deal with those people as well as people who are normally good posters but had a momentary lapse of judgement and violated the rules. There is some discretion but not absolute discretion. If someone flags a post and it violates the TOS 9 out of 10 times its going to get a warning even if I wouldn't have flagged it in the first place.

So having another person to share some of the load with is not a bad thing, whether we NEED one or not is up for debate but as far as I am concerned withen reason the more the merrier, however this opinion may not be shared by the other mods i am purley speaking for myself

My sisters are both vegetarians, so the leather books aren't gonna cut it.

Mods are like children; they should be seen and not heard. Additionally, being a moderator for a specific forum is usually a reward (ok, honestly it's more like a curse) to posters who are particularly helpful and knowledgeable in the subject they will be moderating.

There is nothing that squeezes the life out of a message board more than a heavy-handed, brain-dead mod with an over-inflated sense of authority. As of right now, I think the board is good. My only concern is that RealGM will turn into Das Celticsbloggen v2.0 :nonono:

Oh yeah. While most people dread Pubadroolindogula, you should probably realize that he has, in fact, reformed since this summer's trades. I find him funny, articulate and very knowledgeable. I couldn't stand him through the rough times but I have come around to him now.

This is what happens when you have no mods on a message board.

Was changing the title of the thread really neccessary? I'm trying to start a good conversation on an important topic and someone goes and changes the title of my thread. You could have asked me to change it. I would have gladly done so with a little sound reasoning.

I don't really want to be a mod (see Spin's post) and this board doesn't need another moderator (though Shackles should be a mod of something). Starting with SSK and ILH this board has absolute Jedis for moderators who make this the best Celtics board and frankly allow this to be the best most knowledgeable collection of Celtic fans you will find.

That doesn't mean that posters on this board can't take a little more responsiblity for the board itself. Maybe if everyone kind of took on some ownership of this little piece of internet than being a mod on it would be a honor and not a job. You can chase trolls without the power of a moderator and without getting yourself suspended.

I frankly am holding out for Forum Instigator myself.

ILH, SSK, Spin, BMC, West, Canman, take a bow I for one appreciate the warm blanket that your vigilance provides.

Yes it was it was done for a reason, and if you wanted an explanation PM me dont just change it back, the intent of your thread was still there in the title. Generally if a mod changes something it is not done for our kicks.

Of the five years I've been reading/posting here, I was a mod for two. Those two years were the least enjoyable of them all by a landslide. Being a mod is anything but fun. You have to be ready to try to have rational conversations with 13 year olds or mentally-challenged adults. You have to be ready to deal with people who have trouble with authority, who attack you because they think you are the authority and that you enjoy it. You have to be ready to take flack from almost anybody. You have to be ready to be insulted publically or via PM.

When I resigned I even considered to stop posting altogether

If Mods aren't getting paid in some way, I really don't see much of a point. What do you Mods get in return for all your troubles?

I'd nominate GonzoLays. Seriously, who in the hell knows more than that guy? He's the truth.

GonzoLays would be the people's choice -- always fighting for poster's rights. GonzoLays knows what the RealGM poster's needs are because he is one of them and Gonzo doesn't forget where he comes from.

It's about time we had a voice of the people in the moderator's ear.

Vote GonzoLays.
