I've been holding onto that slug Nelson in fantasy all year solely for his 4+ assists and steady 1.7 3's per game (and literally nothing else). Should be interesting if he can put up some empty numbers here or continue to be disgusting. Btw guys if you don't know, he shoots a solid 37% from the field, can't wait for Smart to get healthy and take his job. He's actually the one guy in this deal I wish we didn't take back, even if we technically need another point guard.

Bunch of babies in this thread.

If we made the decision we weren't re-signing Rondo to a max deal then whatever.

Brandan Wright and a 1st is certainly better than nothing from letting him walk. Regardless of what some of the crazies in this thread are trying to suggest.

Sucks that we have to trade Rondo, but this is where we are as a franchise, that's how the cycle works.

I am beyond elated to have Rondo coming to Dallas. One of my 3 or 4 favorite players in the entire Association. I am aware of some of his flaws, but I am convinced his strengths outweigh his shooting struggles. And we have a great coach to make it all work.

So my condolences to you guys, but I still think the future will be bright in Boston. The Celtics have stockpiled some pretty good assets, and despite the abuse Ainge is taking atm on RealGM I think he is a good GM and will make good use of those assets.

I still can't believe Rondo is really a Maverick....

I can't wait to see what Rondo does with Chandler. That's going to be a two man lob city right there. Rondo pretty much feasted with Tyler Zeller on the floor, imagine a guy like Tyson. I've wanted to see that combination for about 3 years now. Obviously I wanted Chandler on the Celtics but this will do..good luck to you guys. I hope Rondo is enough to bring you guys a championship. I actually had you as favorites in the West come playoff time and this has pretty much sealed my man crush on your roster. Best starting 5 in hte NBA.

I don't think Celtics will be better or worse without Rondo. What they lose with Rondo's elite skills they can gain with the heart and will to prove something by Smart, Pressey, Olynyk, etc..

+1. Always loved Rondo and will miss him, but I root for the front of the Jersey, not the back. Stevens always has done his best work with no names, and now he'll have his chance in the pros

I won't take the time to try and figure it out for everyone, but I know Tyson Chandler played a few seasons with Chris Paul.

The better question to me is this: Can Rondo become the best PG the Mavericks have ever had. For a long time that guy was Derek Harper. A really good defender and solid offensive player. Then we had Steve Nash prior to his MVP days in Phoenix. Elite offensive player. Then we had very young and very old Jason Kidd. Those are the best guys we've ever had.

I think if Rondo signs for 4 years and sticks around through that contract at least he has a chance to eclipse those guys as far as how they played in Dallas. I'm a big fan of Rajon.

To all the people dogging RR9, I get it, he has deficiencies in his game. He is not a good scorer, he is approaching 29, he is prickly. But also remember this. He is a **** warrior. When STD Wade dislocated RR9's elbow, he came back in the game, and battled. How many other players in this league would have done that ? He played in an overtime game against the Hawks with a torn ACL. He stared down LeBron, matched him play for play and carried that team on his back. If you cannot see what a player with that kind of heart brings to a team, especially a young team, then we just look at things differently.

When KG came here what did he bring with him ? His skills were in decline, but he brought the attitude that is necessary to win a championship. Rondo has that same attitude. Young players have quickness and hops. Experienced players bring wisdom and focus.

Do we want to be the 76ers ?

Rondo is a big game player. We are going to miss him.

Adios Rondo. You are a champion and a man among men.

Brad needs to go, screw Ainge, Zeller is a scrub, Turner needs to leave town?

How old are some of you, like 12?

Some of you are really impatience and negative and mostly wrong. What's funny is that when some of you are wrong you just play if off like it's nothing. Making statements like I'm going to eat crow.

Just admit most of you don't know much about basketball and trust Ainge because he knows more.

Seriously Rondo is going to make that offense so re-***-ded. The options he's going to have are nuts and teams are going to have an impossible time gameplanning to stop them.

Congratulations to you guys. Of all the teams Rondo could have gone to, Dallas is one of the best places for him. Great owner, a real classy team leader in Dirk, and my favorite coach in the NBA (Carlisle).

I can only speak for myself, but it's not a sad day at all. I made my peace with Rondo leaving a long time ago. It was always a matter of when rather than if. In my ideal world he would have returned more - but no matter. The deal is done and now it's time to look forward.

I doubt it, to be honest. They're probably going to just roll over for the rest of the season like they did last year.

Wow, not even sure what to say. After so many years of rumored trades, it feels so surreal to see it actually happen. Have a feeling he's going to prove a lot of people wrong surrounded by that Dallas roster.

Another negative aspect to all of this is I feel even worse about the Avery signing now. Really hope he doesn't take it upon himself to "handle" the ball more with Rondo gone.

Pretty confident he will though, seemed like he went off the reservation a bit once Ma and Pa were traded to Brooklyn--- wouldn't be surprised if he loses all self control now that he's the longest tenured Celtic.

Maybe at some point in the season when Danny trades Green and Bass also. So far, some of these guys still have something to prove and they'll try their hardest and probably get a few more wins based on that.
