I'd make a move for Taj and Jose just so Toronto doesn't jump on Gibson

But we're most likely just picking up the options for Johnson and Jerebko because we need the front court depth

If Ainge is still in Utah then technically it is still today, and by today I mean yesterday.

Ugh. You can't be a strong defensive team and a weak rebounding team at the same time. As a result, I see more losses for Boston next season unless this problem is rectified.

Sullinger was far and away Boston's best rebounder last season, grabbing 27.1 percent of available defensive rebounds, a number that ranked him among the best in the league on the defensive glass. He has steadily improved as an outlet passer. What's concerning for Boston is that the next-best defensive rebounding numbers on the team for a regular came from Jonas Jerebko (19.9 percent) and Amir Johnson (19.4). The team doesn't have an obvious rebounding presence. In Atlanta, Horford grabbed only 18 percent of available defensive rebounds.

The other area to keep an eye on with the former Hawk is his rebounding. It’s regressed over the past couple seasons in Atlanta to a subpar number for a center. Since Boston is already one of the five worst defensive rebounding teams in the league, that’s an area that will remain a weak point with Horford in the fold. Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge will still need to find reinforcements this offseason, especially if restricted free agent Jared Sullinger is not back next season.

Yeah, worried we take a step backward next year. Horford is a good player, but the idea that signing him is going to build momentum for the franchise, when it couldn't get us Durant, doesn't fly if we start slow. Even if we pay to keep Sullinger, we seem to be counting on Jaylen's first step to replace Turner's creativity with the ball. He won't be able to do it- Turner was a huge band-aid for this team's flaws. Reminds me of the year after we made the playoffs with Payton and Walker. Took a big step backward.

I'd be fine with that if it weren't a swap year with Brooklyn. More opportunities for Smart to handle the ball, maybe more minutes for Young, more responsibility for Olynyk. We win 38-40, grow from within, have a chance for a higher draft pick.

I still think we'll be fine. I'm happy with our young guys getting minutes, even if have a few wins less. If we actually have the same amount of wins or more with the young guys playing, this would be an ideal situation for us.
Good assessment:

They need to get mins eventually otherwise what's the point in drafting them.

If Sullinger leaves Ainge really needs to bring Zizic over this year. Zizic is an excellent rebounder and I believe he is NBA ready.

I 100% agree trade Young for a 2nd rnder or just cut him if you have too. Zizic should be with the main club.

Well, that's not accurate. The Hawks were the 2nd best defensive team in the league last season. We were 4th. Both were in the bottom 5 of defensive rebounding.

I do think it's an issue in a situation where the top team in the conference has Tristan Thompson, though.

orlando has a full front court with the biyombo signing and Ibaka trade. Id happily give Celtics 2018 pick and a second round prospect. Celtics have cap space.Any thoughts about a potential trade to Orlando?

EDIT This is where made up trade ideas go. sully

Where's our free agency thread, I can't find it, I was wondering how much Boban would cost us? And how old is he?

EDIT: Ok, he's 28, 3 year deal on the cheap wouldn't be bad, he's still cheaper than Amir, probably and we could bring in Zizic.

He just signed a 3 year deal on the cheap with Detroit, 3/21 I believe. Are you the Pistons GM? lol
