lol. Good luck with that, Wiz.

To be fair, the Wiz were one of those teams in the "we have to try something" position. Capped out, no truly exciting youth, no juicy trade chips, and several quite large steps away from contention. Yet way too good to completely blow it up, with their best players still plenty young and locked up long term.

It's a weird situation. In danger of the most aggressive form of treadmill. It's actually reasonable for them to be very risk tolerant.

Are they really that good though? Every year people keep waiting for them to take the "next step" and they never do. To me, they are the American version of the Toronto Raptors. If I were them, I would give it one more season. If they don't do anything next year, they need to blow it up.

Wall, Beal, Porter, Morris, Howard..I mean IF it clicks and that's a really big IF..that's quite possibly the 2nd best starting line up in the East behind us. They have a much better bench now with Austin Rivers and Jeff Green..both guys are better than anything they have had in years..with Oubre and Mahinmi..decent team man. Surprised at how solid their moves have been.

They have been trying to click for years and it hasn't worked. Not sure why they would just suddenly start clicking now.

Boston
Indiana
Philadelphia
Toronto
Milwaukee

All clearly better than the Wizards, in my opinion.

Also, Wall and Beal do NOT like each other, so I'm sure that contributes to their constant losing.

I wouldn't say clearly better..same tier at least. Their bench and Wall's injuries have been the biggest reasons for their lack of success IMO. They have made improvements to the bench, Rivers will give Wall a lot more rest than he has been able to get in recent years and like him or not, Howard is a much better player than Gortat who looked completely cooked all year. If the pieces fit together or not is something we won't find out until the games are played. But they did the best they could IMO.

When you say "same tier," you don't mean the same tier as the Celtics, correct?

"Many within the Lakers organization strongly feel that info was leaked and it was either Lonzo Ball himself or someone within his camp, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

“There is a belief around the Lakers that it was within his [Lonzo Ball] world that it got leaked out there to keep him from being traded. He doesn’t want to be traded from Los Angeles. It wasn’t the Lakers who wanted information on that knee injury. There were a lot of teams that were checking on possible deals with the Lakers, and they had a lot of questions about that knee.”"

It's crazy. Just a year ago, people were looking at the Timberwolves as the next up-and-coming team out West. Now they look ready to fall apart.

A couple of years ago everyone was debating which young core was the best out of the Sixers, Bucks and Wolves, but now no one even considers the Wolves. Feel so bad for Wolves fans; it's partly Thibs fault for draining the youth out of that team and also because Wiggins hasn't lived up to his expectations

Why is everyone criticising this ? The kid can ball i mean obviously they have been a horrible team but he is a solid offensive player they can build around. If ayton pans out they have a solid young core.

I didn't know he can get tbis kind of money. Is it through the designated player rule ?

Just about everyone was saying Minnesota, too.

And yeah; Wiggins stinks. He is the definition of an empty numbers guy.

I haven't seen anyone criticizing it, but then again, I haven't looked too much into it. My guess would be because he is a really poor defender, but the Suns HAVE to lock this kid up. Like, if they lose him now, they might as well fold the franchise.

The West is a blood bath. Put them East and everything looks a hell of a lot better.

They would absolutely look better and would probably be the second-best team in the East behind us, but there is still no doubt that Wiggins is not living up to expectations and that Towns' defense is a problem.

That Wiggins contract is quietly a really bad one.

It's also important to keep in mind that a couple of years ago, people expected MInnesota to develop into a legitimate contender in the West, even before they added Butler. They were next up.
