Brad's former Butler guy Shelvin Mack was waived by Atlanta today.

Is there any news on Gortat? With Baynes banged up, I think we could really use him.

Meh. Not the same gortat. I know he will get short minutes but this season he looks like he shoulda been the waterboy. He can still set a mean screen I guess but I wished him off the court when he was healthy for the clips.

Gortat’s not a terrible fallback option, but I’d much prefer Robin Lopez

Rumor is Gortat wants to go to the Warriors but they want to wait a bit before committing to anyone. I don't think Lopez has even been bought out yet, as he played last night. We may be left with "the big who Golden State doesn't sign".

Sounds about right. Also, when considering who'd take a two year deal and be willing to go to New Orleans, that probably limits your options, too. Guys that feel like they would have better options probably want no part of that. Kanter can do better. RoLo or Gortat, maybe not. If not a big, Shelvin Mack might be an option. He'd probably be happy just to draw a check, but I'd much rather have another big in reserve, or a deadeye shooter, which I don't see out there available.

Every contender in the NBA is in a better position than we are for buy outs. Philly has no back up C behind Embiid..no back up SG or SF..Golden State has no backups period..well just Iggy. Houston has EG and free spaces everywhere else..
All these teams have multiple positions to fill..our 9-8 man playoff rotation is pretty much set. Anybody coming here has to know they won't play much at all.

The one real draw for New Orleans would be lots of playing time. If the player and agent value playing time and future contracts over winning, it may be a reasonable destination.

True, but all those other team's spots are back up roles, too. Coming to Boston (and most likely New Orleans next season) that player could very well be starting or get big bench minutes for the Pels. Playoff exposure with us, even in a limited role, and then a chance to start next year might be a decent pitch for someone.

Gortat needs a back-up plan, because RoLo wants to go to GS and GS is waiting for him to be bought out. Im hoping we fit the bill.

However, we can offer the MLE and I'm not sure how many of the other contenders can.

That's false. Sixers have Boban the great. They also have Mike Scott who is a stretch big. They dont have mins at C. They also just got Ennis and Simmons. Houston has slowly been adding pieces all year. When Capela comes back they will have Faried, EG, Gerald Green and Nene. They couple maybe use an emergency wing type ad their heavy on Gs and CS but they just traded Ennis for basically nothing so not sure if they feel that way.
Celtics cant offer anyone anything but $. Gortat could get maybe 8-10 mins a game while Baynes is out. And we could use him in playoffs vs Embiid and Gasol some

A lot of names were mentioned. Half of them pure trash. Boston doesn't have trash on the bench. 3 of our bench guys started for us in an ECF run last year.
So like I said..all those teams have more minutes to offer than we do. We are probably going to sign some unwanted vet, Michael Finley style. Too bad Vince doesn't want to ring chase..would love to have him here.
Gortat has mentioned before that he would love to play for Boston. Kind of hoping he's our guy.

Ainge is a loser if his does this. He offered the picks that are Smart, Rozier, Brown, and Tatum (as well as several other picks) in exchange for Anthony Davis when this rebuild started. To hand those players over now with more picks as if it was the same price to be paid is a total bitch move. To do it with nothing but one year left on his contract is pathetic. If Ainge includes Brown and Tatum in a deal for Davis he deserves to get turned out like he most likely will.
Could you imagine Pat Riley making that trade?
It's better than offering 4 first round picks for Frank the Ki, idk does he have a nickname.
Win rings or Win lotteries.
No it isn't that all it is knowing the difference. Ainge was offering the picks that eventually became Rozier, Hunter, Yabusele, and Zizic for Justise Winslow the picks where impeding his cap clearing for the next season and most teams knew this and wanted him to get burned for his pick gluttony. Which is why Riley didn't take the deal either the issue wasn't trying to trade for Kaminsky or Jordan & Co. turning down the deal it was turning down the deal and then drafting Kaminsky who they easily could have gotten a few picks later.
