The team currently has the option to sign him to a 2-way (at a minimum). As far as I can tell, no other team can intervene at this point.

Correct the process now is to convert the Exhibit 10 to either a two way contract or rookie minimum deal by the start of the season. This is at Boston's option now so Fall has essentially signed with Boston and Boston would have to waive him for him to go to another team. If he is waived and clears wiavers and wants to go to the G League then he would be assigned to Maine.

There's zero chance he goes unclaimed on waivers. Not after the show he's been putting on.

A team like the Magic or Suns would scoop him up in a second, just as an attraction to sell tickets.

Only two SL games, but there's no earthly way he doesn't deserve a roster spot over Yabusele.

He needs some time to work on those areas but I'd gladly put him on the team over some other guys... like Yabu for example.

Good post. One of the things that really entertains me about this board is what I call the “muscle car mentality”. 0-60 in a flash.

I mean that somewhat affectionately but it can get a bit much sometimes. As someone who thought of Tacko as just an entertaining curiosity and nothing more, I’m very pleasantly surprised by his play thus far. But we REALLY need to pump the brakes a bit. He would get totally exposed on an NBA court right now. It would be ugly. HOWEVER, I do think with time he can become a serviceable 10-12 minute a night guy. I would have NEVER said that a week ago. So I’m impressed. But I’m still living in reality here.

We do need to hold on to him for sure. He does have potential and like was said, his marketing potential is through the roof.

Unfortunately, the quality of Mark Eaton videos on YouTube is quite low. I haven't found any useful for a realistic comparison, given that my idea of a Yao comparison is being universally denigrated as ... well, as an overreach. :)

I really like Taco and want him to succeed but at an NBA level....he isn’t good yet... hopefully with an emphasis on yet. I actually can’t see him ever being an ideal fit on our roster even if he makes it. Give him a contact in Maine or a 2 way but if another team tried to steal him....I’m happy for him. I’d rather keep Yab contract, give him and Waters a 2 way, and say goodbye to Strus.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

Ok thanks, I appreciate the clarification. Good to know.

Thank you! A intelligent answer. I was so upset at the analysts last night. It's your job to know things like that.

Do you think they value him enough? I love the soft touch, his passion, runs the court well. Catches the ball and attacks.

No they wouldn't, at least not for the reasons your stating nobody is going to buy tickets to watch Tacko were a suit on the bench. Not too many GMs are going to decide that he wasn't worth a 2nd rounder a couple of weeks ago but now he is a key to the roster. It doesn't really matter because he has shown he can play a little and that should be more than enough to get a two deal with Boston especially since the Max Strus kid that I have never heard of has been pretty underwhelming. I think Waters and Fall should be the two guys especially with all the silly puns and promos they can do with them in Maine which is where you sign a freak to sell tickets.

This has all the potential to be a defining moment for Ainge. If he stubbornly clings to yabu and this kid walks to another team .. Ouch!

Giving guaranteed contracts to bum guards who can't play. I understand that you can't hit on everything but stop mismanagement of assets..

Austin Ainge is the reason tacko is in Boston. I liked his interview with espn. I am not a huge fan of potential nepotism but it looks like he is bright.

Defining moment based on an undrafted FA? Talk about mega-hyperbolic.

Uh yes. You do realize the Suns and Magic also have G-League team too, which was my point entirely.

Some team will make him the 15th guy and ship him to the G-League if we don’t. He’s not going unclaimed.

But has there ever been a 7’7” undrafted free agent with the tools that Fall has?

A bit hyperbolic? Sure. But Truth isn’t wrong. This kid has mega potential.

If you pass on him for a guy like Yabusele, who shouldn’t be on the roster in the first place, you can be damn sure it could define a GM if Falls puts it together for another team when you had him in your control.

Boston Celtics NBA Summer League coach Scott Morrison offered two ideas for how head coach Brad Stevens might use the 7-foot-6 prospect next season during regular-season games, telling the team’s website Monday night that Fall can be a specialist, a regular role player or somewhere in-between.

“In theory, worst-case scenario, he’s a specialty player you put in for situations and certain matchups,” Morrison said after the Celtics’ Summer League win over the Cleveland Cavaliers. “And then on the upside, I think he can be a pretty solid, serviceable big man who’s going to give you some bonus stuff around the rim in terms of protecting the hoop and every now and then bailing you out of a bad possession, just by being able to catch it high in the middle of the paint.”

Fall went undrafted after his senior season at UCF but signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the Celtics on June 21. He since has impressed current and former Celtics with his size and mobility, has made positive impressions on Morrison and his teammates, and has become a cult hero among fans in attendance at Summer League games. While Fall’s chances of earning a spot on Boston’s NBA roster are hard to assess, mastering the specialties Morrison identified is a reasonable way for him to earn the trust of Stevens, the organization’s staff and other Celtics players.

That right there makes it clear that Ainge will make the right choice for this "defining moment" and Fall will in some way be on the roster next season, which I think most of us already knew. Then again, who knows?

All Fall needs to do is ride this Tacko Fever Momentum Wave until he makes the Celtics roster and eventually becomes the first same-season ROY/DPOY/MVP winner in NBA history.

I actually feel because of the fact that he's got below average lift helps him in that he'll be less prone to injury.

even with below average lift, he reached the highest point ever at the combine. He doesn't have to jump 48inches, cuz he can still reach higher than vince Carter.

Think about that.

Agree. He doesn't have to force his way to get to the rim especially if he develops a jump shot and improve his % at the FT line.

Tacko played almost half the game tonight and he definitely looked gassed toward the end. I was impressed with his speed down the court on the play where he picked up the charge. He also drew 5-6 fouls on really bad passes from the guards.
