My country - Denmark - just announced a, allmost, complete lockdown for the next 14 days.

For those who still does, please stop viewing this as some normal flu.

I'm not canceling any of my travel plans and neither should anyone else. Also if anyone is pointing to the St Patricks Day parade as an indication of the severity of this then that is insane. Marty Walsh has probably wanted to get rid of that yearly headache for a couple of years. This is a good excuse to do so. Look, just wash your hands and stop buying an abundance of toilet paper and water. Everyone that doesn't have a shot immune system will be fine.

That being said if someone is willing to pay me 100k to contract the virus I'm all in.

Yeah it's just a flu that is more contagious and 100-200x as likely to kill you. And if you're healthy you may be asymptomatic and spread it around to dozens of people with compromised immune systems, who then die. No big deal.

Apply this estimate to the mortality rate of your choice. 70 million people with a 0.5% mortality rate is 350,000 deaths in the US alone, and those might be on the lower end of estimates.

In what timeframe is this estimate by that doctor? China has 80k cases now over a 3 month period.

No brainer in my opinion to delay the season because they want to try pushing the season into the summer away from the NFL anyways. Great opportunity for a trial run. Take care of those stadium workers though.

I wouldn't trust anything out of china. Italy has gone from zero to 12k in 19 days, though. Denmark had 30 cases two days ago, now 514. I think the range is too wide to say at this point, and we don't have enough data yet but I'm not a statistician or scientist. I do know that a virus will not spread linearly and that I'd rather governments be seen as freaking out at this stage than we look back in a month and say, wow, we really could have done a better job in preparing.

Not to get emo but the thought of my mom, who has copd, being self quarantined all alone, absolutely breaks my heart. If she was to contract it, I’m straight up going to where she is and taking my chances that I can fight it. I am not going to let someone I love more than anything fight alone. I find these visit restrictions crazy.

Century III, Quatrain 19 reads: “In Lucca it will come to rain blood and milk,

“Shortly before a change of praetor:

“Great plague and war, famine and drought will be made visible,

“Far away where their prince and rector will die

Notradamus and Luca is in italy although I'm not a believer of his quantrains. This one fits. I stress to everyone to not panic also don't go to hospitals unless major. Whether it be nature or man made its seemingly only targeting 60 + so if you in that category I wish you well stay safe.

I would have guessed James Dolan would be the first guy who wanted to play without fans since he gets into so many fights with them and has them escorted out of the arena when they openly mock him.

But it makes sense to gradually do it this way I guess, at least financially. To just cancel the games right now would be an insane monetary loss for the NBA, but they can play for a week or several with no fans, then when the first player gets it, they will be forced to cancel the season. This could have massive ramifications for the salary cap, right?

This is the most important message of all. I've critized authorities for not taking this seriously enough and not being prepared, but each one of us has to do his part.

For days and weeks normal citizens in Italy didn't care and went on with their lives as if nothing was happening. The same thing happened here in Spain and now we're paying the price. Everyone needs to help. We shouldn't panic, but we also can't ignore what's happening around us.

Sounds like Gobert might have it. I hope he caught it after our game with them. If not, then our guys might catch it. Damn

Also, on the sports side of things, I really think they should postpone games until the situation is under control. In Europe they also started with the idea of playing behind closed doors but that's just delaying the inevitable and taking unnacessary risks. Some countries have already suspended all sporting activities and the rest of Europe will follow very shortly.

He should be renamed Rudy Goober. WTF.

I'm guessing if even just one player catches COVID-19 (not necessarily Rudy), NBA has no choice but to suspend the season.

EDIT: I know it's not that simple, but they should consider suspending the season anyway even before anyone involved in team/league operations catches it.

Wow that was pretty fast if he actually has it. Hope he can afford the co-pay for the test. lmao what a moron though if he actually got it from touching a bunch of microphones that sweaty, gross sports journalists keep in their pants for the majority of the day.

This is the weird part about this. Corona virus gives you fever and dry cough and suppresses your breathing a ton. Some of these dudes can just catch a normal cold and crap gets blown out of proportion. If you were to have a legit flu i bet youd be picked up with 10 dudes in hazmat suit
