KD under Ime’s system and sharing the scoring load with Tatum? He must be texting Brad as I write.

That is insane. In two years Brown enters his prime and Durant is thinking Retirement.

There is a small amount of Celtics fans that don’t like JB and never will. It will never change. I’m not even going to guess the reason because I don’t want to open that can of worms.

What are you basing this off of exactly? Is it that those same fans you are referring to are willing to trade brown for better players?

Based on comments I’ve seen in here. Someone said there are 30 players better, another person said no one would trade a star for him. People constantly bring up his bad handles but ignore that he scored 34 points in game 6 while Tatum choked.

Also just go a couple pages back & someone said he regressed. Wtf?

I don't understand why you (and others) need to continue to insist that anyone open to trading JB (for a top-15 all-timer nonetheless) means that they "just don't like him". No one wants to trade JB for KD to get rid of JB, it's to get KD. Why even join an online forum if you're not open to discussing both sides of things (this is obviously a rhetorical question since, well, we are on the internet)?

Yes, but will he get better enough to make the gap between him and KD less than massive over the next two seasons? I’m not asking in a prick way, just genuinely curious. I just can’t imagine KD going from an MVP caliber player this year (when he played, I acknowledge that he only played 55 games and he has some injury concerns) to Jaylen level (a guy at least in the discussion to make the ASG) over the next two years.

And 30? No, probably 12-15 guys. That’s a trade value ranking though, not player ranking, and they are very different things.

IF healthy, KD is the superior player. Historically most players really decline around 35 though. If KD was a post player, there's a better likelihood of him remaining dominant for another 2-3 years. However he's a slender 6'10 perimeter player. If he blows out his knee or Achilles next year, the franchise is f'd cause there's no picks left.

Lastly, since we're talking about trading Jaylen, trade ranking is very relevant.

If you knew KD would stay mostly healthy for the next 2/3 years, would you do it? Only asking because if we get last year’s KD, I think we’d be unstoppable come playoff time, especially because I think veterans would line up to play here.

I just assumed when you said top 20, you were talking player rankings and not trade value rankings. Yeah yeah, that’s what I get for assuming.

If he'd stay healthy for the next 3 years, yes, make the deal. If KD was a physical freak like LeBron, Wilt or Karl Malone, I'd be more inclined to do the deal. He's more of a slender guy like Dirk, KG and Kobe though.

In regards to veterans lining up to come to Boston, seems they'll be pretty limited financially this year. KG, JT, Al, Smart, White, Rob, a $10 million TPE, Grant, Nesmith and PP is already around $165 million, and doubtful ownership goes deep into the luxury tax. For the current roster, it wouldn't surprise me to see them move Theis and Nesmith to lessen the luxury tax.

For 2023-24, Al's $26.5 million falls off the book, and he'll probably return at a lower salary, but they'll need to resign Grant.

Both sides have legitimate arguments. Is no need for the condescending comments from the usual suspects.

Honestly, this thread is a lot less hostile than I was expecting. Two dudes went at it pretty hard, but otherwise it’s been mostly well behaved.

Yeah, it's just a few guys, who probably have 10,000 trade Jaylen post between them over the past few years.

Some people can't handle being wrong. I'm not buying the "glad to be wrong about Jaylen" claim considering the vitriol they have towards JB fans.

KD is a humble Christian man who only cares about basketball. This is not Harden we are talking about.

What are you basing this off of exactly? Is it that those same fans you are referring to are willing to trade brown for better players?

KD is 34 when season starts. How much longer is 34 then 35 then 36 year KD will still be better than JB? I would say when JB is 26 in 2 years he will be better than 35 year old KD. If KD was 30 then I’ll trade 25 year old JB all day long for KD.

I'll take that bet. The gap between them is so large KD could drop off some and still be a far better player than brown will ever be.
