Ainge could have got more in that deal but don't worry - the Lakers will continue to be bad. AD will get hurt again. Etc. Etc.

No, he got them. Imagine giving up a top 10 pick for what the Lakers got today?

He'll get another pick or two with the cap room he freed up, too.

Highly doubtful it's a top 10 pick.

Guys like Giamnis and Donovsn Mitchell could sign in LA before 2027.

This trade probably gets them into the playoffs this year.

We lived through this already. In his last rebuild with us, Ainge bought a bunch of lottery tickets, and had more picks than he could even draft. Two of them landed in the top 3, and we got solid players with several others (Rob, Grant, Terry, IT, and Kyrie). Lakers shouldn't even be in the business of giving away possible top 10 picks for slobs that won't help them win anyway.

Even if it ends up a 2nd, it is capped at 34.

Would you think it is better getting 2 lottery-protected packs, plus a couple of 2nds? Bundling those picks wouldn't get you into the top 10 in a million drafts. Again, there is no way a very possible top 10 pick should be on the table for the caliber of guys they got tonight.

I’m not sure if Cam Thomas/Brown/Simmons are enough to pull that off.

I want the Lakers to lose every trade. But he didn't get them....LA doesn't give a crap about picks. Danny gave them a gift for some reason

Their picks were top 10 six straight seasons just a few years ago, with four of those in the top 4. That is a pretty solid team to best against. While a FA draw, LeBron is 38yo, AD is brittle, and they don't own their picks the next couple of years.

There is no way that giving up a top 7-8 pick should be on the table for what the Lakers got today.

There is no guarantee that will happen though. For all we know, they'll sign two max guys seconds after they dump LeBron and AD. Sure I will LOL right there with you if the Jazz end up with the 7th - 8th pick in a couple of years from the Lakers. I'd love that. But imo, Vanderbilt was probably worth a 1st by himself. The fact that they were able to unload Westbrook on top of it should have cost them another.

At the end of the day I'm just upset that Danny didn't walk away with this owning a stake in the team. I wanted blood

Whoa even left at this point. Christ.

Wait until the off-season when they start shedding talent and expect more of these scrubs to fill the void.

It's a solid bet. Lakers are an old team with no picks, prospects, or trade assets. To land max FAs, they'd have to let everyone go a few years from now and would not be able to field a team around their new stars or go much past the salary cap in terms of payroll by the time 2026-27 rolls around.

They are a poorly-run franchise whose long-term situation is structurally unsound. Very much like the Nets when we traded them KG and PP.
